I had been on a previous Alaskan cruise with another cruise line and swore I would never cruise again. After finding a good deal online I decided to give cruising another try. I really enjoyed just about everything about my experience on the Jewel.
I highly recommend the specialty dining, Teppanyaki was one of the highlights of our trip. We only ended up eating in the main dining room one night since we had so many other options but the food was good and the service was very attentive. There seemed to be dining options 24/7, you just had to decide what you felt like eating. We ate at the buffet a few times, if there isn't seating in the first section there was always a spot in the next couple or on the aft deck.
We enjoyed the trivia and games which were offered most nights. Jocka and Maria are amazing and put on phenomenal shows. The other shows were fun and very entertaining. We tried one of the painting classes and it was disappointing but everything else was good.
Decent sized cabin for a cruise ship. There is quite a bit of storage space. The bathrooms are small but functional. It's nice having a coffee maker in the room. The tenth floor was great for easy access to the spa, dining and shows. We did have some rough seas one day and you could feel the movement a little more in our room than we noticed on the 6th and 7th floors but it wasn't awful at anytime.
