We have previously sailed with quite a few different cruise lines so thought we'd give Celebrity a try. Also wanted to visit the Baltic area. After a shaky booking process - decided to re-book when prices dramatically fell from our quote - we got a reasonable price with free drinks which seemed good. However, unless you are a big drinker you can get a bit fed up with unlimited wine and cocktails for two whole weeks! We needed to dry out when we got home. The ship was lovely - particularly the friendly staff. All very clean too - including the public toilets. P&O should take note :-( We liked the food - including the buffet which was not the usual bun-fight. Good range of choices every day. Room service OK but limited choice here. Our balcony cabin was spacious, but we felt there weren't really enough drawers for clothing. However, not the end of the world. The entertainments were varied and the team well lead by Sue. Loved the Hot Glass Shows on the top open deck. Theatre shows were well-done, but we found some of them a bit odd in concept. Didn't like the dated comedian act, although other Brits seemed to find him funny. It was nice to have a variety of ages and nationalities on board - not just a load of moaning British pensioners! There were quite a few children around, but most were very well behaved. The "smart chic" evenings are a great idea. People put their best clothes on, but there was no need to take fancy dresses and bow ties. This must be the way to go if cruise lines want to attract new (and younger) guests. So we had a really relaxing holiday, and would definitely consider Celebrity again if something suited us. Shuttle buses were expensive to get to town centres. Didn't book ship tours but thoroughly recommend Alla Tours for St Petersburg.
