We have previously sailed with quite a few different cruise lines so thought we'd give Celebrity a try. Also wanted to visit the Baltic area.
After a shaky booking process - decided to re-book when prices dramatically fell from our quote - we got a reasonable price with free drinks which seemed good. However, unless you are a big drinker you can get a bit fed up with unlimited wine and cocktails for two whole weeks! We needed to dry out when we got home.
The ship was lovely - particularly the friendly staff. All very clean too - including the public toilets. P&O should take note :-(
Usual amenities, but limited storage space for 2 weeks.
Balcony good size
Liked the kettle!
No shower gel
We have already been to Bruges, so we simply enjoyed the seaside town of Blankenburg. Had a couple of drinks and an ice cream, and walked on the beach.
Got slightly conned into getting on the HOHO bus near the ship. They charged us to our ship account and it was very expensive. Suggest just walking along to the Little Mermaid statue nearby and then getting tickets for the HOHO boat which goes into town. Otherwise it would be a longish walk.
We enjoyed the Tivoli Gardens although didn't really have enough time to see everything in there.
Got HOHO boat tickets just near the ship. First day we went to the Skansen open-air museum which we loved. Second day wandered around the old town which was enjoyable.
Took the HOHO bus which was rather long and tedious! Don't bother! Then we wandered into the old town and saw all the sights. Beautiful place and easily walkable from the docks.
Took an extensive 2-day tour with Alla Tours. Saw just about everything and really enjoyed it - even if we were exhausted by the end of day 2! Much cheaper than ship tours and included food and drinks. £420 in total for two of us.
Independently took a boat trip to Rostock and back. Unfortunately it was raining, but it is a nice place. In the afternoon went to Warnemunde beach (easily reached on foot from ship). We didn't realise that this is such a popular place for sun-bathing and swimming. There are also lots of cafes and shops, so a great stop-off. Worked out that the cost of a ship's excursion to Berlin was higher than a weekend away there from Heathrow - so might do that some time. Didn't want to spend 8 hours on a coach.
Easy embarkation - got there nice and early and were on board by 11.20 am.
