We have cruised on big ocean liners and experienced some pretty stormy weather. This was our first river cruise and it was a wonderful experience. Smooth sailing, fine dining, excellent tours included in the price and exceptionally helpful and friendly crew. The highlight of the tour for us was the concert in Vienna which was extra but so worth it. The smaller number of passengers made for a really friendly atmosphere and we were entertained at the beginning of the cruise by Hungarian folklore music & dancing and at the end by a Bavarian oompa band. The resident pianist was also a very good singer. Some of the talented crew also entertained us mid week. I have to mention our cruise director. He was so friendly, helpful and organised and was moving on to a different ship for tours out of Amsterdam which he said were beautiful too. We would definitely recommend Emerald Waterway cruises and hope we can take part in another one in the not too distant future. Hopefully we can meet up again with the lovely American couple who became dear friends in the space of 1 week.
