After reading past reviews of the Millie over the last 3 months, we did not have high expectations. However, we were surprised in almost every category by service that exceeded expectations. We booked Aqua Class, which allowed us to bypass the Main Dining Room - that was a huge plus.
Embarkation was smooth although the Hong Kong Kai Tak cruise port was very inconveniently located. Alleged shuttle bus to local malls/MTR stop were infrequent and did not follow schedule (one couple waited 1 1/2 hours for the bus to return to ship). Taxis were not always available. Cruise port stores were all shuttered.
Itinerary was interesting with sea days between each port which paced us quite nicely. Cruise excursion in DaNang/Chan Mai port arrived back to ship some 50 minutes after all aboard, but the ship did wait. Chan May has zero port infrastructure for tourists. Hoi An Cooking class was the best excursion of the trip.
Cabin 1112 was small for the price but expected in the older ship. Low part on veranda deck collected a deep puddle every time it rained that Singh, our excellent cabin attendant scooped up by hand. Soot issues were mentioned by other reviewers and of course was wind dependant. It also affected the outside area of the Oceanview Café bar area.
Storage space was minimal but worked with dirty laundry going into under bed suitcases every night - kind of a pain. Bath and shower was small and could have used more hooks and storage.
Couch and chair both uncomfortable for any amount of time.
Kai Tak cruise port barren and out of the way. Long walk to ship from shuttle drop off area and serpentine security and gangway areas.
Poor shore excursion -Old City tour - terrible guide
Train from Keelung to Taipei, subway around town all went well.
