We chose this Princess Cruise to Alaska because of the recommendation of friends and online reviews of best Alaska cruises. Alaska is a destination that we were looking forward to visiting for several years. We visited in May and found it to be a beautiful time to visit. Princess was a cruise line we wanted to try due to our friends recommendations and online reviews. We were not disappointed! We were immediately welcomed at the airport where we had opted for the Princess transfer to the ship. The process of getting from our arriving plane to the ship was made very easy by the Princess staff in the airport, giving us guidance and clear direction to our transfer, along with taking our bags early on so we didn't have to lug them around in the airport for long after retrieving them from the airline. From the ease of boarding to the well organized and quick disembarking we were catered to and made to feel welcome and comfortable.

Our cabin was Clean and ready for us hours in advance of the stated time in the information we were given about the boarding process and our cabin steward was available to answer questions in our well prepared cabin upon our arrival. We had chosen "anytime dinning" prior to the cruise and the first night when we arrived for dinner we were taken to a beautiful table setting by a large window overlooking the wonder on the ocean and Alaskan wilderness. Our wait staff was exceptional, and the food and wine list offered were good and satisfying. We loved the wait staff and table so much that we ask for reservations at the same table and at the same time with the same wait staff for the rest of the cruise, with the exception of one night at the Crown Grill. The Grown Grill did not disappoint, exceptional food and service. The food at other locations was good and the wait minimal, with the exception of the cafe that was the only option on the day of embarkation, the line was massive and seating hard to find. In the future I will make time to eat prior to boarding to avoid this line and basic cafeteria menu.

Considering that one cruise with thousands of people was disembarking and another group embarking on this same day, restocking of the ship and preparations of each cabin for new guests was taking place it wasn't really a huge surprise that this particular meal was not our best, although the friendly staff did make the wait and standard cafe fare seem less disappointing.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

Loved this deluxe balcony cabin. Clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the deck chairs and table were adequate. Everything you need in a cruise cabin for 7 nights. The shower and bathroom is small, but not unexpectedly so. One HUGE benefit of having a deluxe cabin on Caribe deck on Ruby in Alaska is the fact that there is a couple of feet of covered deck in these cabins. Most of the other balcony cabins on other decks do not have this. When we cruised in May in Alaska there was often mist or some rain and having this covering allowed us to be outside viewing the ice bergs, landscape etc. to photograph it and keep ourselves and our camera equipment warm and dry.
