We just got home after a wonderful 15-day crossing on the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette. It was our first cruise with Celebrity -- we are normally Holland America cruisers. We selected this cruise because of the time and the ports. Except for Barcelona (and Rome from which we embarked), all the ports were new to us.

We took three shore excursions with Celebrity. All were exactly as promised. All were professionally managed and we got exactly what we expected. Of course, any shore excursion gives you only the tiniest taste of any destination. That is the downside to any cruise.

For us, the highlight is being on board the ship. The Celebrity Silhouette is absolutely gorgeous. The crew is a delight -- gracious, hardworking, and friendly. The shows and entertainment were outstanding. The Beyond the Podium lectures were fascinating and a real addition to the experience. The food in the main dining room was good (service was excellent); the food in the specialty restaurants was excellent. Celebrity really promotes upgrades to the dining experience.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the most attractive and dynamic cities in the world. You can't go wrong here!

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

We walked in the historic area and then used the Hop On Hop Off bus. What a great city. This was the biggest and best surprise of the cruise. We definitely want to go back and sample Palma's hospitality.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Rome is one of the world's great cities.
