We choose DCL based on the Disney reputation (we had been to Disney World 3 times) and the enticing commercials for the Disney Dream my 12 year old daughter say on TV. We had never been on a cruise and y husband and daughter were excited to go. I wasn't very excited about spending 4 nights on a ship in a floating hotel with four thousand people. Well, we all loved it and I was pleasantly surprised.

Embarkation: No issues. Very quick. We boarded at 2pm and wished we had gone earlier! Greeting was extra special when coming aboard.

Cabin: We stayed in cabin 5188 at the back of the ship (we booked very late). It was an "undersized" balcony but we found it it very comfortable and actually loved sitting on the balcony watching the ocean behind us. It had a bench seat with storage under it. Also we could hear the nightclub under us late into the night. We had an excellent view of Mickey's Broom on the back of the ship and no one below us. Above us the balcony's sat further back so we couldn't see them. It felt very private sitting out there. The balcony room was a condition of my going on the cruise and I was so glad we got that room. The only downfall of the location was that when we pulled into port in the am, we could hear the engines reversing when they were positioning into port. Not bad, but it did wake us up a couple times. The room itself was very comfortable. DCL uses good mattresses. Plenty of storage space. You did have to leave the room key in the slot to have the AC and lights on. We got used to that. I would book earlier in the future so we could be a floor or two up. Definitely would get the balcony room again.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Getting on and off the ship was pretty quick. Had breakfast at our assigned seating that morning. Very good.

Nassau

It was a cool and windy day. Didn't go in the water because I would have been too cold. Expensive for what it is.

Castaway Cay

We did rent bikes and explored the island. Loved the bike path, wish it was even longer. The island is great though!
