We embarked on our 7 night Alaska Northern Glacier Cruise and Denali land excursion in Vancouver. We stayed at the Pan Pacific which made embarkation very smooth. The Pan Pacific is a great hotel in a fantastic location! ( Visit Cardero's restaurant on the waterfront if you get a chance. Jules in the Gastown area was also very good. We were in Vancouver for a couple of days and wish we would have stayed longer. FlyOver Canada is near the Pan Pacific and I would suggest doing that too if you have time.) After boarding the ship we headed for the Martini Bar to meet up with other family members. The martini bar is great fun. Highly recommend purchasing the premium package if you want to take advantage of everything the Martini Bar and Bistro On 5 have to offer. Absolutely worth the extra cost! These were our two favorite spots on board the ship for meeting up with others and relaxing. We only had to wait an hour or so before our rooms were ready (we boarded early) so it was nice to sit in the bar and visit with some of our fellow passengers. Very friendly crowd.
Our room (8011) was just fine. Everything worked, it was quiet and the deck, which we used often, was very clean. Our room attendant named Made, was a delight. He was ALWAYS cheerful and worked very hard. We really appreciated his fine service! The staff aboard the Millennium was amazing. It was also a joy to see Riosyl's smiling face on deck 5 everyday. She works in housekeeping and is wonderful! They all work very hard at keeping things clean and disinfected!!
We ate in three of the specialty restaurants. Quisine was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. Pace yourself though, it is easy to order to much and leave feeling stuffed. We ate at Quisine twice. Marianna was our server and she was wonderful fun and kind. She is a real asset to the Millie staff. The sushi restaurant and the Italian restaurant were also very good. Great service in all three restaurants. The MDR was good. We had select dining and it was very busy between 6:00 and 7:30. No complaints with the service and food. The sommelier was also very helpful. The staff worked really hard to accommodate the rush of people. If you are a foodie and persnickety, the MDR would probably be considered just OK. But, I thought they did a good job for the amount of people they had to feed.
The room was fine. We were very happy we had a balcony. We had beautiful weather so we used it morning and night. Pack wisely though, people who bring more than one carry-on and one checked bag per person (with 2 people to a room) might be unhappy with the size of the room.
