also at the Cruise/Ferry terminal they have a excellent upstairs market for souvenirs and private tour operators where you can buy Noumea tours on the spot for much less than what the ship charges, most take AUD and get off the ship early in the morning as soon as it docks to take advantage of full day tours), get off at Isle of Pines ( it's a tender boat ride ), it's nice and has a good market and local food and drink available onshore and they accept Australian Dollars, tender off at Lifou to a nice beach and market but forget Mare,don't tender off, there is nothing there, you get off there at a wharf and have to pay $20 per head for a bus that takes you to the other side of the island to a beach with nothing, we did not bother with Mare and stayed on the ship...30 pm and they also had guest artists including a magician, the Carnival Legend singing and dance troupe put on excellent shows and the last show before the end of the cruise without spoiling it too much is "The Rock of Ages", an explosive performance of energy and pyrotechnics that will blow your socks off, it is the best show we have seen and we have cruised 6 times on 3 different cruise lines.
