My husband and I recently returned from what was probably our best cruise yet. This was our 7th overall and our 5th on Princess and we just can not say enough good things about this most recent adventure. We left a day early so that we would have a little extra time in Copenhagen. Princess had us stay at the Scandic Hotel which featured very advant garde design. The room was clean and the breakfast buffet was all you could want and more. Copenhagen is a beautiful clean city. We spent our limited time there at Tivoli Gardens and ate a fantastic dinner at the Groeften at Tivoli. We also had a city tour at the end of our cruise so this worked out quite nicely.
Embarkation on the Regal Princess was a breeze. Princess does logistics extraordinarily well ... kudos to them. We were on the ship with 15 minutes (I kid you not!) from the time we entered the terminal.
The ship is new, big, bold and beautiful. The rooms seemed a bit smaller that usual but not certain of that but it proved to be fine as we were rarely in our room. Pretty much the reviews of the ship that we read prior were true. the Horizon buffet is a bit claustophic and chaotic, but the food was fine. The lack of a staircase mid ship was weird too but overall it was lovely.
Not certain of the category but it was a deluxe balcony which basically means we had a couch or about 5 extra feet. The cabin was clean, the room steward most efficient and the bed was super comfortable. What more could you ask for.
We went off on our own in Aarhus. we went to the Aaros Art Museum and saw Boy and the rainbow panels. It was definitely something different for us and we loved it. The rainbow panels are very cool. The museum is laid out very nicely, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We stopped and had licorice gelato on the way back to the ship which was different. Aarhus was a lovely town and very easy to traverse by foot.
We simply walked around this lovely medieval town. It is a very aggressive walk but worth it. Alexsander Nefsky church is beautiful and a must see despite the crowds. Most of the walking though is on cobble stone so be warned and prepared.
In fairness to poor Helsinki, it was POURING rain that day and we were exhausted from the previous 2 days in St. Petersburg. That being said, we simply did a hop on hop off bus tour and some shopping. I wish the weather had been nicer as there were some definitely interesting things in this city.
