My husband and I booked a last-minute cruise to Bermuda on Celebrity's Summit in May, 2015. Although we had sailed on the Summit before, it was totally refurbished by this sailing. We flew into Burlington, VT to see relatives, took a one-day rental car to Newark and stayed at the Country Inn & Suites near the airport on the night before the cruise. We always come in the night before after missing a cruise due to bad weather and flight delays and cancellations a few years ago.
The hotel was handy and provided a Sleep/Cruise package which included round-trip transportation to the cruise terminal at Cape Liberty. Our room at the Country Inn near the airport was fine (ask for a refurbished room), although the lobby needed some extensive repairs. The area was safe and there was a Ruby Tuesday's next door for dinner. The staff members at the main desk were very friendly and helpful.
We were transported to the terminal in the late morning. Embarkation, which started at 11 AM, was painless and quick. We were on board in no time drinking our champagne. We found a public lounge for waiting, dined at the buffet, and were allowed in our rooms at 1 pm. We had a cabin on the 8th deck on the back of the ship and enjoyed the concierge perks each day. Edwin and Jonathan were very attentive cabin attendants. There was a flower in our room for our anniversary and appetizers each evening.
Very nice cabin on the back of the ship. There was plenty of storage. The over-sized balcony had room for a table and four chairs, two regular chairs, and two chaise lounge deck chairs. The aft location is handy for all meals as all dining rooms are at that end of the ship.
Interesting and picturesque port. Nice to have a tram to get around. No excursions at this port.
Nice port and cruise terminal. No excursions taken.
