Driving to Port Liberty in Bayonne from Rockland County NY took about 90 minutes on Sunday morning with light traffic. Parking fee was $133 for 7 days at the lot next to the ship. Quick shuttle to the terminal, a short lineup to get our Seapass and our Cabin 3048 was ready for us. It had a large round Oceanview window on starboard side, under the promenade, 26” flat screen TV, good showerhead, but a cloth curtain which gets changed regularly. We had 3 minor issues with the room but all were quickly rectified. Cabin has a good layout with mirrors, lights, bed in the middle and single sofa chair by the window, ample storage.
After a light lunch at the Oceanview Café and a quick muster drill we got a memorable sailaway detour to view Statue of Liberty. Weather was hot but pleasant throughout while tropical storms pounded Puerto Rico.
As our first Elite sailing we enjoyed many new benefits such as 180 minutes of free wi-fi in our cabin, some complimentary laundry and dry cleaning, wine tasting event, Elegant Tea, daily cocktail hour 5-7 pm in the Revelations lounge, complimentary specialty coffees and fresh squeezed juices at the Normandy at breakfast.
Great location on the ship, easy to find. It had a large round Oceanview window on starboard side, under the promenade (yet quiet), 26” flat screen TV (interactive), good showerhead, but a cloth curtain which gets changed regularly. We had 3 minor issues with the room but all were quickly rectified by technical crew and cabin steward. Cabin has a good layout with mirrors, lights, bed in the middle and single sofa chair by the window, ample storage. Safe, fridge, good closet space with hangers. We usually get a balcony but this oceanview cabin was more than satisfactory.
Good bus/ferry transportation system, sandy beaches, extremely clean (no graffiti anywhere), lush vegetation.
Just park the car and board the ship. You can visit a beautiful monument just outside the pier for 9-11.
