This was my families first cruise. There was nine of us total. My wife and I, our four kids (22,19,18,14), son-in-law and wife's parents. The ship seemed out dated from the start. The carpet and decor seemed like it was out of a 1980's Las Vegas Casino. The cabins offered 19", very poor quality tv's. Most of the time we could not even see what was on the screen. They advertise food 24/7 but in reality, everything closes throughout the day and night except the pizza station. The rest open at specific times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was just ok. Typical buffet style etc. The casino was pretty nice if you like slots. If you are a card player than don't even bother. They push all kinds of very expensive options on you throughout the cruise. Pictures are $14-$28, depending on the type of picture taken. Bingo will run you $40 if you want enough cards to have a chance. Everywhere you go they constantly push you to tip. Even if you pre-paid the gratuities. They constantly "remind" you to tip. If you have kids that want to go to the arcade, plan on $1.50-$2.00 a game. The pool was probably the most disappointing part of the ship. Very small and crowded. The first day we boarded, it was green! They must have cleaned it because day 2-5 it was fine, just very small and crowded with little kids. The "shows" were extremely sad to see. Very slow moving "trivia" games that would make anyone fall asleep. They did do a Family Feud style game that was fun. To sum it all up, we spent most of the time trying to eat at the correct times, playing bingo and doing our best not to feel completely guilty for not tipping every worker that passed us. I thought a cruise would consist of swimming, tanning, eating at will and not constantly worrying about all the extra charges. We will take another cruise for sure...just not this one.
TV didn't work well at all...most of the time you couldn't make out anything on the screen at all
New Orleans is awsome!
