We took the Mediterranean Medley cruise on the Emerald Princess. Overall, I felt that (in comparison with our previous two cruises) it was mildly disappointing. The ship was smaller than the Royal Princess, which was our first Princess cruise. In favor of the Emerald Princess, it at least finished the cruise, which did not happen in our Royal Princess experience. But in every way possible, the Emerald was a mere spectre of its more elegant big sister ship.
The people working on board were the best, though! The stateroom stewards and various other servers with whom we chatted daily were really great. Friendly, skilled, and willing to be of service at the drop of a hat.
The entertainment was little more than a cut above a very talented high school production, and all of it that we saw was dedicated to promoting Princess (Here's to Princess was one of the titles). Since we paid to be there, surely they realize that we KNOW it's a cruise ship, which wants our business. But by providing little more than self-promotion, they took all the entertainment out of the shows, and it became just an elaborate ad. Very disappointing!
The cabin was fairly nice, and the steward unfailingly excellent. The shower was too small to bend over and pick up the soap without getting water all over, but it was manageable.
We bought tickets to the hop on, hop off tour buses, and had a great sight-seeing experience! We also spent an entire afternoon and evening walking the entire length of the Ramblas, all the way out to the floating mall at the end of it! Would very much wish to go and spend more time in Barcelona!
