Radiance of the Seas Cruise Review by maganini
- Sail Date: August 2012
- Destination: Alaska
- Cabin Type: Large Ocean View Stateroom
Our cabin was roomy with lots of storage and the bed was very comfortable. The cabins seem to be very well insulated as we didn't hear any noise from other cabins.
The ports we went to were excellent and we all got on and off the ship efficiently, even when we had one port which used tenders.
Sea days were lots of fun and there were so many events to attend, there was no excuse for boredom. In fact we were so busy, we didn't have time to do any reading.
Fortunately we were blessed with excellent weather, so the inside passage sail to the Hubbard Glacier was most enjoyable and we spent some time on deck admiring the beauty of nature. We also saw humped back whales and orcas from the decks as wel sailed along towards some ports and to Vancouver, which was a real treat since we didn't take any whale sighting excursions.
The staff on board were extremely courteous and helpful and we always were met with kindness and a smile.
We loved all the food served in the main buffet, small cafes and main diningroom. The dining room staff were most efficient and interacted very pleasantly with the diners and meals were served nice and hot. There were so many treats available at different venues, we just were overwhelmed with wonderful choices. Drinks at the bar were also a nice treat and we were entertained by professional singers and musicians.
The gym was first rate and we always found a cardio machine to use and exercised while staring out to sea.
The solarium area of the ship was very welcoming after a cool excursion in one of the Alaskan ports and the pool there was nice and warm since it was enclosed.
We went to all the main theatre events and enjoyed them thoroughly. The productions were first rate, costumes beautiful and dancers and singers very enthusiastic and talented. We also enjoyed Bowser's show and the juggler/comedian, Ivan Pecel, who was one of the funniest and most talented entertainers.
All in all we had a most fantastic time, our second with Royal Caribbean. We put a deposit down for a future cruise and can't wait.

Mendenhall GlacierWe took a brief city tour which ended at the Mendenhall Glacier. That was a spectacular sight and again, Alaskan scenery is just amazing and almost too beautiful for words. Our best cruise ever in terms of natural, rugged beauty.View All 649 Mendenhall Glacier Reviews
Saxman Native VillageInteresting drive through a part of Ketchikan to get to the Saxman Native Village where we saw wonderful totem poles, an artist's studio where he was working on a huge one and we were treated to a Native Dance. Then we had time to explore some of the shops later on in the afternoon.View All 75 Saxman Native Village Reviews
City TourWe had a brief tour on a drive up to White Pass Summit. The scenery in Alaska is second to none and we found, having travelled on various cruises, Alaska to be the most wonderful, scenic with fresh air and incomparable photo ops.View All 38 City Tour Reviews
