Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Westbound crossing in 2014 was great and we wanted to experience the remastering and a Princess Grill Suite this year, 2016, round-trip for 16 days. We flew into LGA the night before our voyage, stayed at a hotel, and took an Uber from LGA to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in RedHook. Embarkation was quick, didn't take more than 10 minutes. Once onboard we found our suite. Oh, my! It was not as ...

QM2 MAIDEN VOYAGE FOR OLD-SCHOOL CRUISER

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS cruising every January, was Cunard for me? Having heard about the advantages of transatlantic sailing travel compared to cruising for so many years, thought I’d give an ocean-liner a try. So, the brief 4th of July sailing offered on the Queen Mary 2 appeared to be a great opportunity to experience one of the legendary Cunard ships. She was built to sport the often-stormy ...

First Time on Cunard

Background: This is our 22nd cruise and first on Cunard. The ship had just come out of a 3 week dry dock where most everything that we could use was replaced/updated. Could not expect a ship to look any better. I think that my wife and I were well taken care of by everyone. The service, the food, and the entertainment were excellent (except the comedian-he had limitations) The ...

This cruise was better know as the 4th of July celebration with stops at Halifax Nova Scotia and Boston mass. The ship was exceptional in every aspect. Clean as could be and crew knowledgegdable about the ship. Dining was exceptional as well as the shows and n liner.ambience of this modern liner. Pools were great and never crowded. The casino was a little small but the pubs were super. All I can ...

QM2, Quebec to NYC: Another Great Cunard Voyage

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

This was my last voyage before the dry dock coming after the WC, so I hope to write a comparison next year - as we have booked the same class and the exact same trip - Quebec to NYC. I hope this review helps give a few tidbits and happy thoughts - though there was a hiccup or two. Boarding: NYC & Southampton have it down to a science; Quebec City was complete chaos. Enough said. And as ...

In general we avoid cruising but we joined our family for a golden wedding anniversary celebratory voyage. Embarkation We arrived at our assigned time, 2:30 PM, and we were checked-in in less than a half hour. We chose to carry our luggage on board. Other family members checked their luggage; one had their bag missing for the entire first day. Dining The food was generally good and ...

First Time With Cunard Did NOT Disappoint!

This was our first time on any Cunard ship, and it did not disappoint. My review is likely aimed more at those who have never sailed Cunard, for you experienced ones out there probably know everything I am going to write! My husband (65) and I (62) are avid cruisers and active travelers. We drove from Maryland to the port, dropping $46 in tolls going and $22 returning! Parking is available at the ...

This was our second cruise on the QM2, the first being a TA in 2009. I must say that the liner looks pretty much the same way as it did in 2009 which was a relief to us as we love this liner! We flew into NYC a few days prior to re-visit one of our favourite cities then took a town car over to Red Hook. Check-in: we arrived at around 12:30pm and didn't encounter any big delays however the ...

First Cruise - Awesome experience on QM2

First cruise ever and I was awestruck. Embarkation was very speedy - taxi to stateroom in 20 minutes; luggage arrived in the next 20. Room was very clean and spacious enough - lots of closet space and hangers. Only electrical outlet is on desk in main cabin as is the hair dryer, which imagine would be a bit cumbersome if multiple folks sharing a cabin. Food was very good. Kings Court buffet is ...

A pleasant return on the QM2 for a short voyage

This was my 5th time on the QM2, and this time my wife and I decided to take our toddler and in-laws, who have never sailed before. We purposely chose a short voyage out of a local port for convenience, and were very happy with the decision. First off, embarkation and disembarkation were very easy, and made me very happy to not have to deal with airports/airlines for this trip. Once on the ship, ...
