Carnival Freedom July 12th 2007 This will be long.....and mostly about the ports. We are in our early 50's cruising without children.
Pre cruise Rome
We planned 3 days pre-cruise in Rome. Left Houston the 8th and arrived in Rome the 9th...
Baggage experience upon arrival/ good resolution.
3 out of 4 bags did NOT make it, One checked bag and our two carry on bags. (We had to gate check our ...
I returned from this cruise about a week ago and am giving an abbreviated (believe it or not ;)review. This was my first time cruising with Carnival (previously sailed with RCL & Norwegian) so I was prepared for a little less quality of food/service. However, I was still surprised by how much worse the food and service were. .
EMBARKATION: Embarkation was fairly smooth. They did use our online ...
My wife and I are in our early fifties. We have been on about 20 cruises(10 Celebrity; 5 RCCL,; 3 Carnival; 1 Holland America; 1 Princess; and 1 Cunard). We picked this cruise because of the itinerary and thought our two kids (15+13) would enjoy the slide and entertainment.
Pre-Cruise In Rome we spent two days at the Westin Excelsior. We loved the hotel!
Embarkation We had a mini-van drive us ...
Background: This was our third cruise - second with Carnival. And our second tour of Europe (first on a bus tour). We traveled with 2 s and 2 teens (14 and 15). We chose a cruise largely because our kids wanted a cruise and my wife wanted to go to Greece so a cruise through Greece sounded like a great combination.
Travel to port of embarkation: We arrived 1 day early and stayed 1 extra day. We ...
Aspects of it were great, there were some problems although overall, the ship (Freedom) was good. We arrived at Civitavecchia on the day of sailing, and used a bus pre-arranged by the agency to get to the ship, no problems there. 1)Signage and ease of travelling around the ship: Not good, the "dissolving liquid crystal" displays that served as signs were unreadable until you got up to them. There ...
Here's my review of the Carnival Freedom experience from the March 14, 2007, cruising to Greece, Italy, and Turkey:
I. Background Information.
The two of us are a couple in our 30's traveling along with my sister and mom, which makes 4 of us, total. This cruise sailing marks our 5th cruise and 2nd with Carnival cruise lines. This is also our first Europe cruise, with any cruise line.
II. ...
We just returned from our 12 day Mediterranean Cruise aboard the Carnival Liberty.
First of all, the ship was lovely. I guess I would call it "bold elegance." Still somewhat "glitzy", but not wild and gaudy like other Carnival ships. This was our 6th Carnival cruise. Let me say that we have not sailed Carnival in many years as we had a bad experience once, and switched to other cruise lines. ...
We chose this cruise for the ports but also because we heard this was Carnival;s "Flagship". We were poorly mistaken.....
I will start off by saying the ports were excellent, couldn't have asked for anything better. The ship in general was nice somewhat gaudy but didn't bother me; some parts were tastefully done.
Now on to what went wrong, first off Carnival did not send us any cruise ...
Carnival Liberty Oct. 12th.- November 9th. Western Mediterranean and Trans-Atlantic.
Ship is very well appointed but, difficult to navigate at first. Everything is reachable along the Promenade Deck. Shops onboard were a disappointment, not enough to compete with port shopping in variety.
Dining was good, table for 4 and service was good. Food arrived slowly and often cooler than one would ...
