Friends highly recommend this exact cruise on Viking.
Our disappointment started from the 1st day leaving the hotel, we were bussed from Amsterdam to the ship. We were supposed to board the ship in Amsterdam.
We had many, excursions we were bussed to instead of disembarking from the ship, 2 were over 3 hours.
We spent as much time on busses & in hotels as we did on the ship.
The ...
Thank you, Amkat, for taking the time to share your recent Viking experience with the cruising community. We recognize that you are one of the many affected by the itinerary changes...
WE chose Viking for a cruise of the Danube/ Amsterdam to Budapest along with our 90 year old parents. The trip started with NO VIKING REP at the airport gate- we had to search and decided to go to the buses/ taxis where the rep finally appeared. This happened several times during our trip where they simply 'dumped us off' without any tour guide assistance. Our parents would have been ...
Your review of your recent Viking journey is appreciated, mark piekarski, although it is with regret that we learn of the service difficulties you’ve described. We’re saddened by your...
We wanted to try a river cruise, having enjoyed a Viking Ocean Cruise last year. We have previously done ocean cruising with Seabourn and Silversea and we are looking for the right cruise line for us.
What a disappointing trip this was. River levels were low, and on the first day we were bused to Slovenia to join a boat- the Embla- , rather than sailing out of Budapest. After a week we had ...

We chose this particular cruise itinerary in order to see a part of Europe not previously visited. Viking Cruises impressed us in every aspect of our voyage: attentive and personalized service; delicious meals, beautifully presented, and impeccably served; fascinating tours with local guides; concerts, horse shows, wine tastings, every planned adventure meticulously coordinated - and an ...
Length and Composition was reason we booked this specific cruise. We discovered that fellow passengers make the difference between "excellent" and truly "outstanding." Of course, Viking does not have much control over this variable. So, as practical matter, our first portion, i.e., Amsterdam to Budapest, proved to be overall best experience. This first portion was therefore more satisfying ...
We've been looking at the brochures that came to the house for years and my husband finally said, "let's do it". We made our own air arrangements because we wanted to go business class and the business class airfare through Viking was too high. We arrived in Amsterdam a couple of days early and explored on our own.
We thoroughly enjoyed the itinerary and our accommodations. Having the ...
I love history. I felt this gave us a good overview for our first time in Europe.
We started with three days in Amsterdam. I would recommend going from Amsterdam to Budapest rather than the opposite direction. This trip started a little slow with the windmills and industrial areas in the Netherlands and then builds and builds until the grand finale in the night cruise through Budapest. ...
My husband and I had never been to Europe. We talked with friends, who had friends that had traveled with Viking before and highly recommended the company for our tour.
We really enjoyed the personal attention that the crew gave us during our trip on the Viking Lif and our transition to the other ship, the Viking Aegir. We had to switch ships half way through the cruise because the water ...
This cruise was terrific. It was my second Viking, although my first was China which is a joint Chinese govt and Viking endeavor. We really lucked out on the weather. We were upgraded to a verandah suite which was really fantastic. All service was very friendly although a bit challenging at times. The Aquavit Terrace could really be improved for use at dinner. After a full day we did not ...
We chose this cruise to see new countries & sights. Unfortunately the weather was rainy & very chilly on most of the excursions which could have been shortened by half & still covered the same sights & information. Some do the excursions were so physically demanding & we saw so many of the same types of sights that the information all ran together. We tho't the pitches could have been condensed ...
