The destinations were what attracted us. Some were new to us. We love to take off from Puerto Rico. We had cruised with RC before and we have always found them to be great service at a great price. They lived up to that standard on this cruise. The food was excellent, the ship's crew were great and our balcony room was outstanding. Everything about this cruise was top notch. We travelled from Puerto Rico to St. Maartens where we snorkeled with turtles and toured both the Dutch and French sides. We next went to St Kitts where we saw the rainforest, a 16th century fort and some amazing scenery. From there we went to Antigua were we circled the island in a catamaran did a lot of snorkeling and enjoyed a day on or near the water. We were not able to make St Lucia due to port problems so we went to Martinique. There we toured the port area. The last stop was Barbados where we toured the island, seeing a 16th century English church and lots of beautiful scenery of nature as well as some spectacular homes of the rich and famous. Read Less

This was our 17th cruise, fourth on R.C. There seemed to be a decline in just about everything. There was no ice pitcher put in the room each evening, the beverages offered for buffet were limited to water or lemonade unless you wanted coffee or hot tea, no bedtime mints, repeats of most foods nightly in the buffet, good bands placed in crowded areas where it was difficult to enjoy the music. No place to sit and listen. Noisy crowds drowning out the bands, etc. Noise was prevalent everywhere. The comedians were excellent, the place was overall kept pretty clean. There was really nothing much that rose above the "average" level and nothing to get excited about this time. There were shore excursions we wanted to take which have been offered in the past but were not offered this time. We prefer to use the ship's shore excursions but couldn't this time because of the lack of offerings for our interests. Read Less

I chose the cruise because of the ports. These ports I have never been to and wanted to experience the ABC islands. The ship was a little smaller than I thought. It was hard to get a lounge chair when at sea because people was leaving their things and taking up all of the chairs even in the solarium it was not enough seating. The service was good but the food could have been better. I have been on some of their other ships and the food and presentations of the food was better. At breakfast and lunch they were always running out of silverware. Staff and crew very friendly. One thing I did notice was they really kept the ship clean except for the bathroom by the pool area sometimes not as clean and some bathrooms were broke for the number of women and children needing to use them.As I said early the ports were great. My biggest problem was after leaving the ship we waited for a least 30 minutes before our bags got to the airport and than had to wait another 15 minutes because our bags were the first ones on the truck that brought them to the airport and they were the last ones off. We enjoyed our cruise very much. Our cabin steward was the best we have ever had on a cruise. This was our eighth cruise. She brought us extra pillows and a topper for our mattress. Our bed was on the hard side for the mattress. She gave us extra soap and tissues. Our safe didn't work and she had someone up to fix it within minutes. The ship had been refurbished we were told. But our room was not. What we noticed new were the slides and most outer areas seemed refreshed. New carpeting and paint. Rooms need some attention. The buffet in the Windjammer was so so. It could be better. The dining room food was mostly good. Some of the fish dishes were not so good. Not much beef offered. Maybe trying to get you to go to the Chop house for dinner. Waiters were excellent. Entertainment shows were mostly good. Tours at our stops in Bonaire, Curaçao, and Aruba were good. Did tours of the islands. Flying is the biggest hassle and the San Juan airport was crazy busy coming home. Glad we had extra time to catch our flight coming home. On the ship some of the scheduled shows were hard to catch. Missed most of the ice show since it was only on two days. Tried the last show and we got out from dinner late. Saw about 10 minutes of the show. We like to play bingo but it was so unorganized and very expensive to play. Would not play on future cruises. Do not like how they nickel and dime you for everything. Always trying to get you to buy a drink even after you say no thanks. But overal we did have a good time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and that's a big plus in our book. Read Less

If you are like us spend the little extra for an outside cabin with a balcony. Older folks don't do rock wall climbing and some othe the other younger folks do so it is important to have a lovely place to retire to to just relax and watch the world go by, it makes it a real vacation. I can't think of a better way to just relax and be treated like royalty, Regardless of where you are on the ship there is always someone readily available to provide you with help or information. As a senior male having rest rooms near by is always a concern. I found restrooms were everywhere and we always clean, this made my needs less awkward and easily deat with. I guess the attention to detail and your personal comfort are all that I need to make the choice to use Royal Caribbean. Enough said! Read Less

This is my 6th cruise with Royal Caribbean, my 3rd cruise out of San Juan. I really enjoy the islands, there is so much history, the tours are so interesting. I have already booked another cruise in Oct. out of Rome. The attention to service of all the staff is important to me, from the cabin steward, to the dining room waiters. The food is delicious, no matter where you choose to eat on the ship. I always enjoy the entertainment. It is always so nice to unpack only once and let RC take care of you for the rest of your cruise. RC makes it easy to book your choices before you cruise, ie, tours, drink packages, dinner reservations I take advantage of the early booking prices when ever I can. Also some tours are discounted if you book them early. I highly recommend RC Cruises to all my friends. Read Less

We chose this cruise because our neighbor took the same one earlier in the year and really like it. The ship is very beautiful. Did not get a chance to explore San Juan because of time restraints. Embarkation was great. Stateroom, we had room with balcony, seemed a little worn, but not bad. The shower was very tight. One thing that was very annoying is that when you turned on the TV an R rated movie clip was always playing. That would be bad if you had children traveling with you. Only show CNN, some HLN, for news (disappointing). It seemed as though the wait staff in the Windjammer was slow to serve you when you sat down, asking about water/coffee etc. It was only open certain hours of the day. The last day they didn't come around at all. We ended up getting our own coffee/water. The islands were beautiful. Read Less

Royal Caribbean has been the best we have cruised on. Considering and comparing the services and programs offered by other liners, we rated Royal Caribbean as the best. The cruise director has set the tone and momentum for our vacation and the staff's friendliness has captivated us. We do interact quite well with the staff and they do not hesitate to stop and spend time with us. The variety of events offered keeps us busy and well occupied during our 7 days cruise. The dining room staff extended themselves to provive special requested foods and this was well appreciated by our group of 20. The buffet had a wide variety and great options for breakfast and dinner. The staff was very helpful and serving. The cleanliness of the ship was what made an impression on us years ago and has maintained that standard today. The cost of this cruise was indeed value for money. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have already experienced the western and eastern Caribbean. This one was available at the time that we could go. We have cruised on the Liberty, the Allure and this one, the Adventure. All are different and each has it's own advantages. This is the smaller one. It still was the largest at each port! The layout of the ship was easy for our pre-teen and teen grandchildren to feel comfortable finding their way around. One thing that I appreciated was the Deck Patrol that monitored the "saved" deck chairs by the pool. The adult area by the pool was quiet and a change from the family area. Since we were with family members, we used both areas. The dining staff was attentive. We asked for lemon for water the first night and every night after that, there was a little plate of lemons on the table. They remembered all our names by the second night. We were very happy with this cruise. Royal Caribbean did it again! Read Less

They are nickel and diming you to death for everything. We are Diamond Plus and received no offers for ship tours. Probably because they are selling tours now. Windjammer food and staff were not up to RCI standards and appears they have reduced staff in most departments. Not a lot of changing varieties from day to day and the lettuce was always brown in the Windjammer but nice in the dining room. Lunch in the dining room was also a nice experience. Inside Cabin was very acceptable but you will want to split the beds for space to move around. Diamond and Diamond Club staff were great. Both clubs were cramped and over crowded. The Entertainment was pretty good. Would be nice to have a better description of the shows each nite. Casino needs better smoke filters in more nonsmoking times. The Check in process and off loading went very well. Read Less

Ports of call in the Caribbean. Size of ship was good and had just been refurbished. Had a Grand Suite for the first time which was wonderful and our cabin steward was great. We had so much storage space and the bathroom had double sinks and an awesome tub. The food was great in the main dinning room and our servers were fantastic. The food in the Windjammer was okay and the service was lacking, especially getting ice tea. Took forever to get the tea as the servers argued with me that they did not have ice tea. I had to talk to one of the officers in the Windjammer about it. The entertainment and activities were not good. They were all late at night and most started at 10:15 PM, which is to late if you have a shore excursion the next day. The concierge lounge was great, we met many very nice people and it was very relaxing. The suite was worth the extra money. Overall we love the cruise minus the entertainment. Read Less

We chose this cruise for several reasons. Firstly, we needed a vacation, due to a colder and longer than normal Vancouver (Canada) winter. Second, we wanted to try a cruise line we had never booked before and had heard good things about RCI from a seasoned cruising friend of ours. Third, this was a longer than normal cruise, due to the ship having been privately chartered by a large insurance company for a staff cruise, but only for a few days so RCI filled in the remaining days with our 10 day cruise - great ! We also did a lot of online research into the Adventure of the Seas and found that she had recently undergone a multi million dollar re-fit, so we felt that this cruise and this ship would suit our needs well. As former Travel agents ourselves, from many years ago, we are always expecting good things, and this trip was fantastic. The ship was magnificent, the crew and staff onboard were well informed, courteous, and always able to make us feel right at home. The buffets onboard were able to keep food hot at all times and the quality and range of foods at all meals was exceptional. The Adventure is a majestic vessel with a stunning atrium, and you can watch the glass capsule type elevators going all the way up 14 floors high, from the bottom floors - you won't believe you are on a ship ! The board walk inside the ship is amazing - lined with shops, pubs, and a great "street" inside the ship where entertainers perform nightly to delight you. During the first 3 days we were onboard we found that the leaders of the shore excursions were difficult to find after you had walked onto the pier, and this was a little disconcerting but there seemed to be a general change onboard after the third day and there seemed to be a lot more attention being paid to detail after this. We were frequently approached at the main dining room during our meals, by the head waiter to make sure all was good with our meals. Perhaps there had been some complaining, who knows, but I would say overall that this cruise was an excellent choice overall and we would have no hesitation in doing it again or recommending it to others. We also write on Trip Adviser and enjoy travelling a lot and reviewing for others. Researching, before going on a vacation is the key to smoothing out the bumps as much as possible before going. With most vacations you get what you pay for and we were very well satisfied with our cruise. Don't hesitate - Book It ! Gordon and Barbara Foster, Vancouver, Canada. Read Less

So nice to have the chance to see/do what you want on your schedule. Also, if you've never been there, we enjoyed the Tuk Tuk tour on Curacao. Updated ship is superb and spotless though I felt the hand washing tray at the entrance to the Windjammer made me feel like a cow lined up for milking. Staff ALWAYS attentive. Annabelle in the main dining room arranged for my favorite savory rolls every night...even though they were no longer on the menu. Also provided private napkin folding demo following dinner. I travelled with 14 other friends, there were a total of 15. I had my own cabin, which I prefer. The ship was beautiful, very clean, entertainment was great. The Cruise Director was hilarious and pulled me right into the fun during the 70s party. A few minor glitches in the dining room which were quickly rectified and ran smoothly from then on. Entertainment, as I said, was fun. Shows were spectacular, I particularly like the ice show. The Quest Game was just hilarious. Ports and excursions were adequate, so many to choose from. I would suggest that Royal consider having a singles meet and greet at some point during their cruises. The do have solo meet and greets but I found that this was mostly couples who were going to play bingo, no a real singles meet and greet. We cruise for the entire package (ship and itinerary). This fit the bill. The MDR hours changed for traditional seating and due to the slow service, it interferred with our usual early show schedule (that also moved from 7:30 or 8p to 7p) so often we ate in the Windjammer, but we had to rush because the Windjammer didn't open until 6:30p...a suggestion would be to open at 6p. We're early to rise (5a) and early to fall (9 or 9:30p) so the change in these hours really upset our normal routine. Thank goodness the food in the Windjammer has really improved with a wide variety of selection. Loved the new hand washing station - excellent addition !! Now if we can get you to change the hours in the Windjammer (open for breakfast @ 6:30a and dinner @ 6p. The entertainment fell short - loved the comedian, that's about it. That may be why the show attendance was so low - not enough unique entertainment. The ice show was fabulous! One thing I've never understood...why is all the adult shows/activities so late at night. You're catering to singles and those with children, yet if cruising with children, the parents have to stay in so that leaves those with no children with no activities between 8p and 10p. Mix it up a bit. If it's adult only entertainment - post that no children are allowed under the age of 18. This was a port intensive cruise, yet you didn't modify the show schedules accordingly...everything enjoyable for adults (only) was after 9:30 or 10p. Overall service, excellent. Read Less

This was my first cruise with husband and parents. I have never really fancied a cruise before but am definitely a convert now. The ship was luxurious with glass lifts and staircases, the dining room was beautiful and dinner felt special each night and the overall feel and service on the ship was better than a lot of 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The cabins weren't very modern or plush but so little time was spent in there. The entertainment was fantastic without being too cheesy or lairy. Everyone was having a really good time from salsa dancing, to listening to live music in the pub to theatre shows, discos etc. The only problem was not being able to do everything that was available which means we'll have to go on another one. The staff were so friendly, helpful and courteous and it's been a long time since I experiences such good service. I can't fault this ship and it was one of the best holidays I've ever had. Read Less

This was my family and I first Royal Caribbean cruise recommended to me by my co-workers. My children age range from late teen to young adult, they all out-grew my beloved favorite Disney Cruise vacations :( We had such a great time on our cruise over the Thanksgiving holiday. There were so many activities, entertainment for all ages to enjoy. The crew members were all so professional, consistently greeting us with a smile, and going out of their way to make sure we were all enjoying our vacation. Although the Adventures of the Seas is an older ship, Royal Caribbean did a wonderful job updating the ship while in dry dock prior to our cruise. My DH and I booked our next Royal Caribbean cruise for next year 2017! It will just be the 2 of us. This will be our first cruise together without our children! it took a lot of convincing me, as I am an extreme family oriented person. We booked the Anthem of the seas, we are staying in the Grand Loft Suite 10724. Anyone with experience, tips for us for our future cruise will be appreciated. My DH and I are also thinking about renewing our wedding vowels for our 25th wedding anniversary 2018 on Royal Caribbean with family. We wanted to duplicate our honeymoon cruise some 21 years ago. We flew down to san Juan 2 days in advance to take in the sites in Old San Juan and to sample the local restaurants. (Pannes restaurant in the Coronado District was so good we ate there twice) The Adventure of the Seas (Voyager Class) has been recently refurbished and has many of the amenities you'll find on newer RCCL ships. It is due for another upgrade in Nov. 2016 which will add even more restaurants, entertainment and outdoor activity venues. The ship is clean, well maintained and the crew was very pleasant and helpful. There is more than plenty to do aboard ship to keep you busy. There is also many places to go to for quiet time. Entertainment was very good and a nice variety. The food was good but nothing special. Our cruise visited 5 ports along the Lesser Antilles. One of the things that makes this cruise unique is that at every stop we were the only ship in port. Something you would rarely see in places like Nassau or Cozumel. The ports, with the exception of Antigua, were clean and friendly. The shop keepers, tour guides and taxi drivers on Antigua are aggressive and don't take no easily. Just be prepared! I would definitely recommend this cruise. Read Less

This was our 4th RCL cruise. We booked and enjoyed JS 1244 on the 10th deck. The embarkation went extremely smooth. We had a pre & post stay at the Doubletree Hilton in San Juan. From the time we reached the pier to the pool area was less than 20 minutes. One thing I really liked was the ability to say NO to pictures throughout the cruise. And no offers for a drink before we even got on board. Kudos to RCL. We had Anytime dining in the Mozart Room. Kudo to staff. Food was superb every night. I got lobster on night and am still dreaming about it. We ate other time in Winjammer. Others thought food was not so good from past postings. I enjoyed it, food was tasty. And like we planned we could always eat elsewhere if we wanted to. A few times we ate in Conseguire Room. One comment on ALL dining - need more comfortable and a bit larger chairs. Saw lots of oversized cruisers unable to sit in dining chairs. This cruise we decided to be laid back, only saw one show. Pretty good. Again chairs need to be redesigned. Also hated stadium seating. I liked the old way of sitting around small tables in clusters. Service was outstanding, as always. Wish that the Adult Pool area was just that NO young teens, there were a few that upset me. Ports were great. We did not book excursions through ship, used trip advisor. Also we went to Marriotts in St. Thomas and Curacao for their one day beach passes. I really enjoyed our double balcony from our cabin. It had a table and chairs and a lounge chair. I suffered heat stroke a couple of port days so I had to rest in the room with ice. I also had to visit the Medical Center, kudos to staff there, they all knew what they were doing and were very professional. Shopping on ship was great, bought a very nice necklace with an emerald and diamond charm. Staff was very helpful at all time. I visited Johnny Rockets once. Very nice. The pizza in the Pizza Shop not so great, very dried out. While we were in San Juan we went to the El Younge Rainforest before our cruise. Very nice. Read Less

We sailed on the Eastern itinerary with stops in St. Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. We arrived the day before and stayed at the Courtyard Isla Verde. It's a nice property that allowed us to have some beach time before we boarded. As checkout was 11:00 we took a taxi then to the terminal. At the terminal, we checked our bags quickly and then had to wait until after 12:00 for the doors to open to check in. It was chaotic at this time, and if I had to do it again I would arrive a few hours later once things settled down. Once in check in was quick and we were on board within 15 minutes of entering the building. For the stops: - St Maarten - took a private tour with a day pass at the Sonesta Maho beach. Fantastic! - St. Kitts - booked Thenford Grey's Grand tour. Well worth it. - Antigua - Had the ships snorkel and kayak booked, but this was canceled due to weather. Walked around port, but not much to see. This did make a good down day after the prior two - St Lucia - Took the ships zip lining by the Pitons. Very nice boat ride back and forth. The zip lining was ok. - Barbados - Hired Carson Moore for a tour of the island. Highly recommended. The service in the main dining and the cabin was great with the staff going out of their way to ensure we had what we needed. The food in the main dining was mostly good and the Windjammer was what you would expect for this style of buffet. The ship as a whole is showing some wear and will definitely benefit from it's October scheduled dry dock. All in all, we had a good time and are looking forward to seeing the Adventure next year after the refresh. Read Less

We choose this cruise because we wanted to have a family get together. There were 3 generations, 10 people in all, with ages from 9 to 74, in a total of 6 cabins. We, the reviewers, being the older ones (grandparents) Each group did their own thing, excursions, beach, pool, etc. Family dinner at night, no cooking, no cleaning up. Loved the warm weather, so we choose to use Puerto Rico as our departing and returning port even though travel from Vancouver Canada was a bit of a pain. We love coming back to Old San Juan, so we arrived a day early and explored the town before as well as staying one extra day following the cruise. Previous we went on Navigator of the Seas out of Galveston, which was also very good but involved 2 sea days to get to and 2 sea days to return from the Caribbean. Service was excellent. Embarkation was a breeze, luggage arrived at the cabins fairly quickly. Because of our loyalty status and cabin category, we used the concierge lounges a lot which was a joy. All concierges and assistants were excellent and very helpful. We received a welcome email before we left home offering any assistance that he (Ryno) could provide. For example we liked to have a dining table for 10 at the late sitting and this was arranged through the concierge before we even were in Puerto Rico. Our waiter (Nitesh) and his assistant DeJan were so helpful. His interaction with the younger ones was very appreciated. We did not use the ship's excursions, casino, activities. All, including the children (in their 40s) and the grandchildren (in their teens) had a wonderful time and had found their own activities and made friends. Unlike at the Navigator, there was always food in the Windjammer café Disembarkation was smooth and well organized. Read Less

Location and chance to see new islands in this part of the Carribean. Our flight and embarkation on the same day was the best ever. No wait time in terminal a all. Had direct flight from Houston, Texas, 4 hours only. . Our cabin was the snag for the day. Several problems and finally had to get housekeeping guru ti come to clear up the mess. Wine and champagne did the trick. Our dining partners each evening were interesting and enjoyable. We were 5 different couple as from different places in North America. Each evening conversations were most interesting. Dining services was the best we could expect. Only 1or 2 missteps on foods. The ice shows were exceptional on both shows. These performers were excellent as we sat in different locations for shows. Ports and shore excursions were good. 2 shore excursions were on our own. Barbados and Martinique did our own touring. Had birding excursion with guide from Holland now making her home on the island. Gave us good history and cultural facts as she drove us around. We would come again for more birding here. No c .hildren as we are seniors. Movies were good not out of the ordinary. Several evening shows were most entertaining. Enjoyed morning room service when going ashore. Nice perk. A good cruise for the reasons we wanted. Just coming and going to and fron San Juan, Puerto were the best ever. Read Less
