We chose the Fascinating Far East cruise on Discovery 2 for the impressive itinerary. Although the pirt of Malacca was cancelled, we loved visiting Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Food on board was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. This should have been a fantastic experience but unfortunately our grand suite (which cost over £7000 for 2 weeks) was anything but grand! The ...
Found two worlds on this cruise amazing staff Great rooms and wonderful decor Food was excellent although i kind of expected more based on the marketing Cabin room attendants were great and attentive Most waiters were punctual and polite Overall entry level staff was good
Above is the Heaven part
Management and reception desk was HELL on earth unless you like to be lied to ...
The ship altered the itinerary by an hour or 2 at each port (shorter), and that sent the shore excursion department into convulsions . There were line ups of 15 to 25 people constantly as the Shore excursion desk.
We enjoyed the lovely ship and our veranda B2 cabin was the nicest we have ever had at sea, (after 15 cruises.)
The food in the Terrace cafe was outstanding. We had a good ...
To be fair the choice of this cruise was mine, to celebrate a significant birthday and then explore a part of the world I have always wanted to see. The itinerary was very attractive, as was the price when we booked. I was also drawn to the size of Westerdam, being a small ship. First things first, the lead up to the cruise was a daily argument with Holland America over needing visa's for some of ...
Visa Services: told to get a Chinese visa by Holland at a cost of $1000; ship offered them for free while underway. Guest Services barely apologized and offered no compensation. Excursions: over half the guides didn't speak English well enough to answer questions or give commentary, visited sites were repetitive and boring. It was clear Holland had done no quality control on their excursions or ...
We are on a cruise in Asia from Singapore to Hong Kong and have to describe the experience as distinctly average. The staff are great and the food is plentiful.
The boat is ok if a little old fashioned and frayed at the edges.
However what we found quite remarkable is how things you would expect to be part of an expensive all exclusive package are extras. Wow do they know how to charge: ...
Wanted to visit this part of Asia.
Started off in Singapore with 2 nights in a hotel, loved it but very expensive.
Arrived on Solstice and first impressions was she is getting old and quite run down. Cabin furniture old and worn and balcony really shabby - chairs not at all inviting. Beds were comfortable and linen clean.
Most of the ports we stopped at were industrial, with a couple in ...
Joined the ship in Singapore, embarkation a bit clunky not as smooth as others we’ve experienced but overall ok. Luggage delivered promptly and all in tact.
We had a balcony stateroom on deck 8, pleasantly surprised by the size and particularly the shower was much better than many, plenty of room. Lots of storage in our room, AC worked well, spacious balcony with comfortable chairs, very large ...
This was a back-to-back sailing for us. Our previous cruise was 12 days on Celebrity which ended in Singapore where this cruise was embarking. Royal Caribbean had been our favorite cruise line until we took the celebrity cruise. Throughout the years, the changes in Royal Caribbean have been more negative than positive to us. The long lines, the scarcity of available tables at the breakfast buffet, ...
We took this 4 night cruise prior to another cruise just to go to Phuket.
The staff was wonderful and the ship was in good repair.
The food was average but nothing spectacular. On our last few RC cruises we have been disappointed with food not being hot/cold.
There is not an indoor bar with a view outside. Being in Asia 90 degrees & 80% humidity that is an issue.
My biggest ...
