First time in SilverSea very disappointed, definitely not was I expecting, Embarkation in San Juan went smoothly from there all went downhill, we book Cruise true American Express and got $ 1,500 dlls cruise credit on board the first order was to make reservations for dinner to our surprise ALL the Restaurant where book for the week we ended up having dinner at the same restaurant 3 times( The Grill ) and 2 times at la (Terraza), cabin was clean in perfect shape but above us was a restaurant " The Grill " so we had heavy noise until 11pm every night, next day we pick our tours and proceeded to reserve them to our surprise they where all book and all of them on waitlist, only one open up out of the five we selected. The port selection for this Itinerary was very poor except for St Barths & Tortola, I just don't understand how can a cruise line with this level make a stop in an Island like Rosseau, Dominica. Service on the ship was excellent but nobody went out of its way to assist or help beyond giving you the NO or you are on Waitlist.. Try to spend the on board credit on the Spa but with the same results it was book for the week and if an opening was available we will be notify, we where also unsuccessful, In General the ship felt very dull no activities at all, will not travel in SilverSea again. Overall our cruise was delightful. The only downsides being: first, some of the ports on this cruise (Road town,Tortola and Rouseau, Dominca) were odd choices. They are both sadly still suffering from hurricane damage. My second issue was the awful wi-fi, even with the premium service we received for being in a Silver Suite. At times it simply did not work, and we were only doing emails and checking the weather and written (not streaming) news.. The explanation that it's tough to do wi-fi at sea is at odds with our very positive experience with wi-fi on Silver Muse about 18 months ago. Moving on to all the many positives: The Ship was in perfect, pristine condition. It was interesting to play "find the stretch spot". It was done so well that only with the help of a crew member could we figure out precisely where the work was done. And the additional room at the pool and Grill made for a better experience. I particularly like the new, Muse like, color scheme; others may disagree. Dining options are plentiful. We made reservations on MySilversea and all were honored. It was easy, however, to make some changes as the cruise went on. And, Atlantide and Indochine require no reservations. Even with a nearly full cruise (544 passengers) there were no problems making adjustments. The increased space in La Terraza was a mixed blessing. It was easy to get in there for dinner, but the relative intimate nature of the space is gone. And, I notice they no longer mention Slow Cooking in the description; sadly, the duck pappardelle was just OK. We tried Silver Note and enjoyed it. The duo (singer and pianist) were quote good, took requests andwere not at all too loud. The crew make the Silversea experience and this trip was no exception. They were uniformly charming and a delight to interact with. Read Less

Silver Spirit at Christmas time is a beautifully decorated ship, as well as one of the most pleasant to cruise. The extension added new cabins as well as enlarging the main dining room. No reservations are needed there, and it was never filled. The menu has multiple choices, but does not vary from day to day during a ten day cruise. There is enough to choose from in the main dining room, and also several other venues that are available at no added charge but require a reservation. None of the areas were ever filled to capacity during my lunches and dinners there. Only two areas have surcharges - the Japanese and French specialty rooms charge $40 and $60 for dinners. There is really no reason to pay extra when there are so many other dining areas included. The new pizza area on Deck 10 is terrific, and Hot Rocks at The Grill on Deck 9 continues to be a favorite. LaTerrazza on Deck 7 is an Italian restaurant at dinner time, and has a six or seven page menu all in Italian with English subtitles. Wine is poured freely at each and every venue - no need to ask unless you prefer a certain type. A red and a white are offered, and you are free to request something else - no problem! Everything is done with a flair - all services are top notch. Entertainment is not their main feature, but the singers do a good job with various types of music each evening. One daily trivia is well attended, and the no-charge Bingo games get a good turn out of players. All of the staff from room butlers to waiters do their best to accommodate your every wish. The cabins are much larger than on other ships of this size, with a walk-in closet that has a six drawer dresser w/safe as well as large hanging area. The bathrooms feature a large glass-enclosed shower and full tub plus lots of storage area. Your room fridge is filled with your choice of beverage at no added charge. Who could ask for more? We chose Silversea's Montreal to New York based on the itinerary and reputation of the cruise line. The Silver Spirit is definetly upscale with design and excellant, friendly service throughout the ship. The dining options were plentiful and good , not great , which was a bit disappointing . For a 10 day cruise , even though the dining options were varied, the menus stayed the same . It would have been nice to have a more varied menu. The one thing that was nice was the availability of the all around menu at every venue , which did give some additional variety. The Silversea Cafe on deck 8 was a daily staple , with snacks and lattes from 6:30am ... The itinerary lived up to the expectations, excursions we're well planned , and for the most part small. One negative would be the alloted time in some of the ports. The excursions were that good ,but we felt rushed because of time contraints on getting back to the ship. The tour guides were very good other than one on food tour Quebec City , disorganized and tour not as advertised. The major disappointment for those who like to workout was the small exercise area with limited machines and very small area for classes. This could certainly be an enhancement for SilverSea to consider. One suprise was the quality of the entertainment . A very talented troupe of singers and dances (Voices of Silverseas) were absolutely entertainng with the variety of song and dance that we didn't miss a show . Read Less

Silversea is marketed as a pampering and luxury cruise line. However, my experience was not as luxurious as anticipated. A friend warned me that the service/food level had dipped in the last couple of years and we booked nonetheless. The cuisine was mediocre in most restaurants. Atlantide and La Dame were fine as far as the level of cuisine offered, and we loved our meals there, however we found the offerings in the rest of the ship to be less than...not what we expected. Our cabin attendant was very sweet and accommodating. The luggage delivery was late, and not his fault, but we boarded the ship at 2 and didn’t receive our luggage until after 6...beyond annoying. Also, we are used to the service level of Azamara where any food or drink wish was taken care of immediately. We didn’t get a bottle of Ketel One for our room for 2 days. And the level of in room cuisine was also mediocre and almost always cold. The only ports worthwhile were Montreal, Quebec City, Bar Harbor and Boston. The others were boring and lackluster. Silversea should consider paying the higher cost of a longer port stay in the other ports allowing for more time for exploration. Saguenay, Sydney and Baie Comeau didn’t have much to offer, unless you paid for an excursion. I will say the service in the restaurants was excellent. The staff is well trained and very accommodating, friendly. It’s just what they’re serving that we found challenging. We wouldn’t book another cruise on Silversea. Read Less

Wanted to cruise the changing of the leaves in Canada and New England. The ship is wonderful the crew is also overboard at helping. Our butler Oscar and out maid Evelyn were just superb. The weather was not the best, but such is life. The only downside to the entire trip was the tenders. The tenders on two occasions caused tours to be cut short, both times the scheduled departure from the ship was delayed almost an hour. The most annoying being Newport, we were scheduled to tour the Vanderbuilt mansion, but had to cut it short to get back for the final tender. Other than the tenders, every other aspect of the ship, crews and food was excellent. I will be sure to check any ports in the future that require tenders, especially if they are as expensive as the Vandebuilt one. If there is a tender I definitely will not pay to get off the ship. We took this cruise because of the time. The ship was great! The cabin was wonderful! The Butler was special! Most of the meals were wonderful. Our dinners were really made wonderful because of Karolina, the head wine steward. She was a delight! Breakfast was not up to par. The service at breakfast was VERY slow! Painfully SLOW! The shore excursions were lacking! It appeared that the ship wasn't aware of how poor some of the excursions were. The walking tour at Trois Riveres was so bad that most people left the tour before it was 1/2 done. The tour at Syndey, walking tour, was also way below par! Again, many of us left the tour & went on our own. The gift shop was the worst I have ever seen on a ship. (This is our 8th cruise). The gems were (some) lovely but the prices were extremely inflated. This is the first time we haven't purchased something from a ship gift shop. It lacked things were that would be needed on a trip, I.E. a hat, a sweatshirt, a poncho for the rain, a scarf, etc. Would we go again? Never on this itinerary! Never to stop in Syndey, Canada. Why do you stop there? There is absolutely NOTHING worth seeing or doing in Sydney! When we disembarked in Montreal it was a free for all! VERY UNORGANIZED. It was cold, rainy and windy. Some of us were left to fend for ourselves in the elements. We finally found someone to help with our luggage & paid him for his help. It was much appreciated. We took the tour of Montreal, again, not up to the Silverseas standards. When we arrived at the Montreal airport it was once again a free for all. Very disappointing. On another note, the hotel in New York, The Parker is also below the expected standard for Silverseas! Read Less

Embarkation from NYC was fabulous. We arrived in the city a few days early and enjoyed our time there. The ship is clean, well maintained, and attractive. Our cabin was the same. Roshan and Aaron were fantastic at their duties, always friendly and happy to comply with our requests. We enjoyed most of the dining rooms although we did not go to LaDame because of the upcharge. I can't praise the cruise director, Jimmy, enough. His sense of humor and accessible demeanor made the trip very enjoyable. (I still can't get over the trivial pursuit answer of "The Bodyguard.') As for entertainment, I'd have to say I enjoyed the guitarist most of all. His music selections were ideal and his talent shone with each performance. The other entertainers were quite fun, talented, and friendly. I think my one negative comment would be the need to choreograph the shows more professionally. Now, to the ports. I feel that the Trois Rivieres port could have been omitted and more time spent in Quebec City. The rest of the ports each offered sights and information that were beneficial and enjoyable. As for the shore excursions, the tour guides were fabulous. Each had wonderful senses of humor and their enthusiasm for their home towns was quite apparent and much appreciated. We did not travel with children. Actually, we saw no children on the ship. Of course, it occurred after the start of school. I would return to Quebec City; in fact, we did just that after we disembarked. As for the other ports, none stand out as places to return. That being said, keep in mind that we had already been to Newport and Boston more than once. All in all, we had a fantastic trip. Read Less

The staff was outstanding in assisting him with the shore excursions. Our butler was very attentive and we enjoyed the daily breakfast in our stateroom complete with tablecloth and the finery of a hotel. The food is absolutely superb. The restaurants and menu selections are extensive and a culinary delight. We didn't pass up breakfast, lunch or dinner. We ate too many desserts! The entire crew is courteous and efficient and made our voyage delightful. Our suite was decorated with happy birthday balloons and we each received a fabulous, individual cake. The smooth sailing took us to ten destinations filled with beautiful venues and historic sites. All expertly described by the tour guides. Three on shore lunches were indeed a delight! Read Less

We decided to cruise with 7 other friends in our community and always had this itinerary on our ‘bucket list’. The newly renovated ship and its size and amenities seemed to fulfill our requirements.Pre-cruise contacts with Esther Paine from Silverseas were excellent, and we embarked with high expectations for personalized service. Pre-planning of excursions and dining reservations went smoothly with web site. The arrival of the trip diary and luggage tags confirmed this.We had our own pre-arrival and hotel plans, but once we arrived at embarkation port, Silversea took over and we had smooth quick, transition. The cabin was perfect for us, impeccably clean with great service from our butler and porter.Everyone on board ship was smiling, curteous and so willing to serve us! We had anticipated use of the cabin bar, but found that there was constant offering of any liquors mixed drinks, wine, and specialized coffees in so many venues, that we failed to even open one of our bottles of liquor. Being able to freely move about the ship with our abundant choices in restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or in-between, (or have breakfast room service) allowed us to savor so many different cuisines, that we cancelled our reservation in La Dame.We were never disappointed in Indocine, Atalantide, or LaTerraza. Wine stewards and servers always tried to please us with choices. We were never able to fully take advantage of late-night entertainment, since the 10PM starting time was prohibitive. We enjoyed the ‘cultural’ lectures by Corey Sandler and would suggest more of the same. The guides on our shore excursions were excellent, especially in Saguenay, Sydney,(walking tour) and in extended PEI tour. We were so disappointed that the Fabuleuse performance was cancelled due to poor reservation sign-up, but S/S did not advertise it properly! Triois Rivieres was disappointment, and was not a good investment. Didn’t find anything of interest in Bar Harbor either. Cultural excursions in Boston might include art museums.. we planned our own and used cab service. Our experience persuaded us to sign on for another cruise next year. Read Less

Expensive cruise (cost me 10k with flight) staff never bothered (only waiters giving out drinks all the time) Partially disabled and ordered wheelchair to board the ship. When I arrived was told none available they had ran out but only a couple of yards to walk or wait 1/2 hour. I walked, Almost 100 yards. Struggled. Passengers asked if I needed help. Staff didn't bother. Lots of restaurants but charged 60 dollars extra in some. Food varied but always luke warm. Breakfast in cabin always came wrong. I complained the first time, to no avail. Even staff when standing next to doors seldom held open for you. Ignorant. The service wasn't as advertised. Packing case/unpacking. Paper on floor after cleaner had come in to clean. Was fed up with it all. The first night was asked if I wanted to sit with someone. I prefer this but was never asked again. Passengers asked me if I wanted to join them though. Found attention from passengers embarassing- but very thoughful . I'm not one to seek attention. I didn't think after compllaining to steward I wanted to complain anymore and cause to be be singled out by the staff. I decided to leave after 3 days. I wrote to Silver seas to ask for plartial refund. 500 dollar onboard credit never spent (couldn't have all been profit) but refused. The cabin was on standby and only booked a couple of weeks before. Cancellation I expect. Silver Spirit did offer 1k on future cruise. This was the last of finances and now on state pension and a bit of disability. Which I did convery to them. So impossible for me a future cruise. This was the cruise of a lifetime for me and the last one. Anyway if free wouldn't go again. Just a bog standard reply from them I expect./ They really don't care (well, they do when you book) ninutes to answer the phone. Week when you complain. Sign of the times. Read Less

We were nervous about first cruise on Silversea cruise because, although many positive reviews, there were many negative comments. One was the food. We loved the menu in Atlantide which changed frequently; Indochine excellent; La Terrazza was good but not as excellent as main restaurants. Another was wine. Their selection of included wines was excellent and if you prefered one they would go get it. Service: unlike some comments we were served quickly and competently. The wait staff and wine stewards bent over backwards to make us happy. Maybe the Transatlantic cruise has a higher ratio of crew to passengers, but we were overwhelmed with the quality of Silversea on this cruise. Entertainment has been also been rated poorly. The Silversea Singers were 6 young and very talented singers who included opera singers and jazz singers and all could dance. They put on a charming and highly entertaining show evry night. They need to supply tea making facilities in cabin. Butler service is about 30 mins for a cuppa. Had problems with water not being hot enough for cup of tea with room service and in restaurants. Complained and they did try, but some were a bit smart about it. Food not always hot. Room service breakfast was often just warm or cold. Toast was cold and like concrete. Pizzas dreadful. Pub lunch was bad food was cold and tasteless tried bits left most of it then went to the buffet. Need more menu choices in the Restaurants. Only seemed to be Seafood or Meat for mains and raw meats or seafoods for starters. Soups 2 seafood and tomatoe. I can't eat ,Ost seafood but my husband enjoyed. No duck or chicken. I didn't like the Italian restaurant. The lunch buffet was best for choices. scored 8 out of 10. My main problem is with their system in handling payments. paid $1914 on travel card 10/9 and then on 12/9 they put it thru again for $1914 which is pending but showing a date of 10/9. I now have no money to spend in England it is all frozen! They say this is normal and I have to wait for my bank to clear it 5 days. Their attitude, contact you bank, I did who cancelled and told by email they would send new ones in 7 days to Aust address. No help when you are travelling. This should never have happened why would a Company take full payment then 2 days after this put through a hold for the same amount but with different reference nos and think that this was the way to do business. Was told this is their system they just didn't have any empathy at all. Very very angry and disappointed. The Australian office finally got involved and she contacted my bank and got the 2nd charged cancelled but too late as cards cancelled. They are looking into this event so am waiting to hear what went wrong. Excursions were very good a bit pricey but they all are. We had an issue with 1st private car 4 hour tour they short changed us about 30 mins but I mentioned this and they gave us extra time on the 8 hour tour on the third day to make up. The concert was wonderful. The shuttles where provided were good. The other tours were good with no more than say 35 people eg they didn't fill the buses so numbers were smaller. I wouldn't change any of the tours that we did. Ports were good choice. 3 days in St Petersburg was needed. Loved the size and no of people on board and this was the best aspect of what they offered. Ship was very elegant and pleasing, no loud rap music etc. Entertainment was pretty good. A lot of wait staff and Butlers so can't understand why food and hot water can't be hot for room service & restaurants. Attention to detail could be improved in this regard. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I wanted to cruise the Baltic Sea and my husband doesn't like big ships. I hadn't been on silversea before but I liked the itinerary and the cruising dates. My sister and her husband joined us. They thought the pricing was rather high and they didn't want to dress for dinner. However I convinced them it would be worth the cost and effort. After booking I was second guessing my decision because I found the SilverSea travel agent really shockingly terrible. He didn't return my phone calls or emails. I only spoke to him when I was lucky enough to reach him directly by phone. I was absolutely appalled. He never returned my sister's emails or phone calls either. Also I read some bad reviews on the chat line. Happily the cruise was fabulous in almost every way. The service was superb! Our suite was large, clean, functional and beautiful. We loved every restaurant and lounge. The decks were fantastic and the entertainment was outstanding. We had a great time in every port. The only area that didn't measure up were the SilverSea excursions. They could definitely have been much better. For example, not one of them had headsets and the groups were too large not to have them. That wasn't the only problem but I'm going into details on that. Luckily, we booked Alla Tours in St Petersburg which was excellent. Read Less

Wanted to see the Fjords. Had nothing to do with Silver Seas. Our friends had a so-so experience on an exploration type cruise so wanted to give the more conventional cruise a chance with SS. The wait staff, especially the so called head maitre d were terrible. Bepin, Norbert, and Samuel were great. In fact, we went to IndoChin the last 5 nights because the service was so bad elsewhere. E.g. I wanted two scoops of vanilla with chocolate sauce which was not on the menu. Waiter did not offer to get it for me. So, I left table, went up to the ice cream lady and got it myself, returned to the restaurant to stunned faces. On outside grill, had to go get a glass of wine downstairs because noone came by to check on us. At almost every meal, someone made me feel like I was imposing. Bepin and Norbert didn't play those games. Tours were ok. Train ride (not Flam) was a fiasco. We had fun, but who wants to feel like an imposition. Get rid of the tall short haired blond supposed maitre d...it's clear his staff was afraid of him. Never smiled and he's two faced--smile then shut it off as soon as guest left his presence. Jerk. Food was ok, but not outrageously good. Bepin did respond to my request to steak (gave me filet mignon, not sirloin) and lobster on the last night and another change up to the Indochin menu no questions asked. Wonderful. And the other thing was the language barrier for us Americans. I should say the pronunciation barrier for us America. The waitress did not understand the term blend, slush, and frozen for a margarita drink. It was repeated to her several times. No clue what we were talking about. We ran into this almost every day. And the 11th floor bar in the front of the boat had no breakfast or anything until 6PM. Coffee was only avaialble in the back of the boat. Very bad. We went the first night at 6PM or later for drinks and never again because the second night we didn't know it wasn't open at 5:00 PM for happy hour (duh!). Silly us. It takes two-three days to get the lay of the land. Again, the ship itself was ok for some things and uneven for others. I enjoyed my walks outside around the pool, but that had nothing to do with staff although Harvey, a waiter outside, was super nice and checked up on my step total. Most wheelchairs I've ever seen on a cruise. If I had trouble negotiating and/or locating my way around the ship, I can't imagine their plight. Embarkation and disembarkation were the best of our experience as cruisers. Super organized and done quickly, including even getting our pictures taken and all of that. Leaving on bus was very well done and we felt comfortable with that. Coming on board, they allowed our taxi to pull right up to the waiting group of staff members. Nice. You can't take the beauty of what we saw on the ship. SS had nothing to do with that. We did enjoy that part of it, but our experience with the staff was so uneven and weird (remember all four of us in our party felt the same thing, so it's not just the author) that we won't be back. If it wasn't for Bepin, Samuel, and Norbert, we might have settled for room service dinner. Read Less

The Silver Spirit had been renovated and most changes were great. There was several restaurants and I found all of them to be quite good. The food was consistently tasty and the service was wonderful. The concept of a butler with every cabin is just plain magnificent. I had the best butler I've ever had and it was really like having a personal valet. I went on several shore excursions and they were all well organized and on time with no waiting in a lounge for long times waiting for the bus. The spa was wonderful and better managed than those run by Canyon Ranch. I have cruised with Regent Seven Seas, Viking Ocean, American Cruise Line and Star Clipper. We (just the two of us) love the size of this ship and that all the cabins are a comfortable size, though we did have a larger cabin on this particular cruise. The service was impeccable as usual and food was very good (and that is saying a lot since I am a very picky eater). We always arrive a few days before our cruise since we know things can go astray (cancelled flights, delayed flights, etc) plus we enjoy resting up and exploring our departure city. We both love the all-inclusiveness of SilverSeas. There was plenty of good entertainment thru out our Cruise. Our room had so much storage space and the closet was very large for a ship. (Drawers and cabinets galore) The balcony was a nice size with a small table for eating, an adjustable lounge chair and a standard cushioned chair. The only negative was the limited movies as I do enjoy watching movies late at night. I'm glad to see this ship going into dry dock for refurbishments--It will be a great Enhancement. Read Less

Cabins are larger than most... dining experience at lunch is excellent... dinner choices are less appealing. Excellent entertainment. Overall service is outstanding. The ports on this itinerary were very disappointing...but sea days were excellent. Fitness center is very small and poorly laid out... equipment faces the wall...and the TV's and audio were not working. Not really a family cruise...mostly senior adults.. romantic atmosphere. Venetian Society has a couple advantages, discounts, cocktail reception... but given the fact liquor is included for the cruise ...cocktail reception isn't really a perk. Other than the cabin staff and waiter in the section of The main restaurant I ate in every day the word that best describes most I encountered was disinterested. The experience on silver shadow prompted this short journey as it was absolutely fantastic. I had no hesitation booking 2 further cruises with them next year, however if not for the fact that I am committed to flights for both journeys I would think again. The six young people (dancers , singers ) should also be congratulated for their fantastic performance. The food and wine were perfect. Excursions were well organized, but passengers sould get more detailed information on the timing and difficulties (foreseen time before first stop with the bus, more precise expected difficulties, and not only "moderate amount of walking"). Should be remembered that people may not speak English. We understand that English is the world wide language, but at least on TV, there might be Spanish,French, Italian channel and not only six (!) English and one German speaking channel. Read Less

We cruised on Silversea's Spirit from Barcelona to Rome, August 8, 2017 for 9 days. We chose Silversea's because of their sterling reputation for service and they did not let us down, and I commend the Silverseas staff who are professional, warm and engaging. They get to know their guest's quickly -however there were other areas that disappointed us greatly. The ship itself was in good to average shape but starting to show some wear and tear and in need of a re freshening. Our veranda cabin was a nice size and comfortable BUT the restroom had a horrible smell that pretty much ruined our cruise from day one. The staff (both housekeeping and engineering) worked diligently to try and find the cause and correct it, but unfortunately they were never able to. I immediately brought this odor issue to the attention of our butler, his supervisor, engineering, the head of housekeeping and guest relations. I honestly believe it was an embarrassment to them and it should be. We were never offered another cabin or any kind of compensation, which I thought was surprising and disappointing. The service at the dining venues was excellent, the food was good, but I felt like the hours of operation of the restaurants were too rigid. I was also disappointed that for the evening meal there was no type of buffet option like on Seabourn or Oceania. In all fairness they offer room service 24 hours, but that is not what I was looking for. I was not very impressed with the excursions. Most of them tended to be longer than necessary and not much in the way of enrichment. Of the 5 excursions we did, only 2 were truly enjoyable and fun. Next time I cruise it will probably be with Seabourn. Read Less

Our first cruise, Silversea was recommended by friends. Liked our cabin #751. Good location, roomier than I expected. Good size balcony. Excellent butler. All staff werevery friendly, helpful. Restaurant staff very attentive and accommodating. Excellent breakfast buffet and restaurant menu. Dinner menus monotonous. Should have several daily specials. Room service daily menus should be available all day in all restaurants. After 2:00pm had to order room service if you wanted lunch. Most excursions got back to the ship after 2:00. The entire ship is too air conditioned. I was cold all the time. Broughtclothes for hot Mediterranean weather not cold. Had one sweater with me and wore it all the time. Had to go out on deck or balcony just to get warm. Would like to have a few shows late afternoon or evening, too tired after a full day to stay up until 10:00 for a show, Was looking forward to the casino but there was never anyone there. Don't want to play Blackjack with just the dealer and no one else in the room. There should be more than one washing machine and dryer on each deck. We had to run from one deck to another to do laundry. Fernando, the Cruise Director, was an interesting guy, very friendly, always remembered your name. Thought the train shore excursion on Mallorca was kind of boring. The Old Villages excursion on Ibiza was a waste of money. Total joke. A couple of cafes a bar and a church. Glad we didn't book anything on Sardinia and Elba. Did enjoy the Menorca excursion that excluded cheese tasting. Pisa and Florence excursions very well done. All excursions we took were very organized, guides made sure everyone was accounted for and could find their way back to meeting place at end. The public spaces on ship seemed a little tired and stodgy, need redoing. My husband and I enjoyed most the cruising into and out or ports.Liked sitting on the balcony and watching. For our first cruise I was dissipointed, my husband enjoyed it more than I did. Maybe I'm just not a cruise person. Felt like I was living in a bubble, a safe space. End. Read Less

We chose the cruise for its itinerary. Unfortunately, the "Bordeaux" stop was at an abandoned container dock 100 km from Bordeaux, so not having purchased a costly all-day shore excursion, we didn't see Bordeaux, so that was disappointing. The rest of the itinerary was as stated, and we enjoyed the ports immensely. Eleven days without a sea day made for a very busy cruise. Service was generally very good to excellent, except the day of embarkation, we didn't see the butler until I finally called him 9 hours after boarding. So much for Silversea's advertisement of a butler for each suite who will help you unpack. Food and wine quality and restaurants were very good to excellent. We got to go to market with the chef at two ports, that evening the local products the chef purchased were served on the pool deck. It was a great way to experience local flavors. The first few days of the cruise we had record heat, then the weather became chilly as we sailed farther north, a welcome change. Free wifi was only available one hour each day, and purchasing wifi was quite expensive, so we only had a short amount of time to check our email for contact with friends and family online. But that's ok, it left more time to enjoy the cruise.which we did, very much. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary but, this specific week, because of the weekend watching the Grand Prix in Monoco. We began in Barcelona, a city we were anxious to see. We enjoyed seeing all the Gaui buildings but La Sagrada Familia was truly a work of art. It is a reason, in itself, to come to Barcelona. Cannes, even with all the crowds for the film festival, is a beautiful city. Monte Carlo (and the Grand Prix) speaks for itself. As does the charming little town of Portofino. It was so pleasant to just stroll around the town. The side excursion to Florence left us breathless and wanting to return. As did our stay in Rome and the sites we saw. Could not have asked for a more perfect itinerary. The ship was very luxurious. Our cabin was quite large and very well appointed. The choices for meals were many. And the menu in each of the restaurants was outstanding, meal after meal. There was enough entertainment to fill the evenings and it was all quite professional and enjoyable. The service by everyone was impeccable. Our personal butler could not do enough for us. Everyone always greeted us with a smile and hello - all the day long. It was obvious that everyone had the same mission - to make our stay aboard the very best. And it was. While you can't take credit for the weather - that too was perfect - the entire trip. All pre and post travel arrangements were very well done and took the stress out of our travels. Thanks SilverSea Read Less

Since it was my first time in a cruiser, I find it difficult to make a comparison. Our butler Dorothy and our room service Hilda were perfect. They did their best to make us comfortable and to meet our wishes. Other crew members were also friendly and easy to talk to. Two of the 8 restaurants onboard did not meet our expectations and we went only once in each. The other ones were excellent. In one of them we had live music with a very good singer. She performed a tasteful repertoire. Unfortunately, I attended only one of the night shows and it was not what I expected. The singer had a good voice but used a lot of playback, which I found disappointing. When he played with the Silversea Trio, then it was good. All in all, I hope to take one or more cruises with Silversea in the near future! Read Less
