I wanted a cruise close to home not requiring an airplane flight. Ports did not matter. Grandeur is a human scaled ship at 74,000 tons, not too big, not too small. It also has a proper boat deck promenade where one can commune with the sight, smell, and sound of the ocean. This feature is eliminated from many recent builds.

I have cruised RC several times before and we had been on the Grandeur before about six years ago and were pleased. Things have changed though. The boat is older but very clean. The service is outstanding.
They now charge for room service which I was not happy about it.
