The good:
We lucked out with the calmest seas in Feb cyclone season.
RC shore visits in Noumea, Mystery and Port Vila. Expensive but well run.
The insanely blue water of Mystery island.
The beauty of New Caledonia and Vanuatu itself.
Staring at the ocean ( an ocean view is a MUST!! )
Realising just how BIG the ocean really is.
Well appointed and liveable room.
Gym ...
I had a great time on this cruise, I was a solo traveller and everyone was really nice and friendly. I'd recommend the solo traveller meet up held on the first few nights.
A few things I noticed tho.
The Evian water package that cost me AUD$40 (pre cruise discount) turned out to be cheap supermarket water that would cost AUD$10, see pic. There weren't water fountains to fill up water ...
This was my seventh cruise with Royal Caribbean (Second on Quantum) and I have cruised with three other lines so I could claim to be a seasoned cruiser to a degree.
First the good:
Great friendly cabin and waiter staff (with one exception). Junell and Eugene in the main dining room were excellent while supervisor Rolston was very competent. Edgar looked after our room very ...
Chose this cruise to enjoy with first time cruising friends.
Balcony room (4D) cabin port side aft.
Extras Paid for
1, Wifi package 7 days. Was good enough and dropped out now and then. Should be free.
2, Drinks package. Recommended as drinks could have got costly. Sometimes staff seem to be on a go slow instruction and avoid eye contact and take a long time to serve.
3, Noumea - ...
We travelled with 2 others on the cruise, it's always better to have some friends to come along with you.
We booked the GTY internal, but were given a virtual window, our friends booked a window and got given a balcony...lucky them.
Been on Quantum a few times in last year, so knew what to expect and been to same islands many times, but love the islands.
Our room was quiet and had a few ...
We have done several family cruises with RCL, and started back in 1996 on Monarch Of the Seas - back when food was sublime, and you were not nickel and dimed for everything.
Over the decades, we have cruised with RCL a few times when travelling with family. Our fav has been Oasis.
Quantum - Our family all had Junior Suites. The size is good, however - beds are rock hard, and there is very ...
The ship lacks activities, extremely under staffed, you will find a hard time getting a drink almost everywhere in the ship. I cruise with RC all the time and this is by far the worst of their ships. From the poor service, to lack of activities, it’s just a horrible choice. Put in mind i booked a suite, I can’t imagine the lesser cabins are going through.
The pool is extremely tiny and ...
We decided to travel to Brisbane to celebrate our anniversary on a cruise to the South Pacific, instead of our usual departure port of Sydney, as Ovation was headed to NZ.
This was our third Quantum class ship, and what a disappointment it was. The ship was overrun with unruly teenagers and their disinterested parents who did very little to control their offspring. Likely too busy ...
out of the 3 cruises I have done in my life, this was the best one, and in my mind, it got to do with who your with and the amount you want to do on a ship
I travelled with my dad's partners family and it was amazing, and had a balcony cabin all to myself
The Ship - Great
The Food and Beverage - Great and plentiful (although, something I am finding with RC is that the soda machines like ...
Ovation of the seas - was old , tired , uncomfortable and had very very disappointing food on our christmas cruise ---and no one from royal carribbean gives a damn- couldn't care less--don't want to know that their furnishings were threadbare in many of the lounges/bars and public areas --that food in cafe 270 smelt rancid, the bed was almost un-sleep-able, the entertainment was absolutely awful, ...
