I am reading the review written by Disappointed in April 2019 and it could have been written by us ! Such a tired old boat , it's like an old peoples home . We have been on 2 previous wonderful Viking cruises which were wonderful so decided to book this one . So disappointed we may not do another. The ship including cabins are from the dark ages and really let Viking down . To emphasise this we are docked next to a brand new Viking ship and feel like moving over. Staff as usual are wonderful and a credit to you , just the ship which ruins the trip. The food and staff in the dining room is great but the room is boring and tired Looking at other companies for our next cruise, the stafg will not be as good but it may be more comfortable. In summary the Viking Legend is the Travelodge of the Viking fleet . Read Less

We chose this cruise for the tour down the Danube. Our first river cruiswe and we were thrilled. We met wonderful people and the staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The cruise itself was so fun and picturesque. We really enjoyed the tours and learned so much about the history and culture of the cities and tours. We started 2 days ahead in Prague and then went to Passau, Germany to start our cruise. So many places to see! The ship was clean and the cabin, although small was very organized and you had room to unpack and put your suitcase under the bed. The ports were fun and the excursions we chose were enjoyed! Panoramic tours of the cities: a wine tasting in Austria, bread making at a farm in Linz, A market tour with our chef in Vienna, A Mozart/Strauss concert in Vienna. We would have loved to stay in Brataslava to enjoy the Slovakian food but sadly we were there just a half day. Such beautiful cities and towns. We loved them all - Budapest is very interesting and beautiful. We arrived at night and saw the beautiful parliament building all lit up looking gold with a full moon shining also. Very impressive. I think people with mobility issues would find this trip a challenge. Lots of walking and cobblestone streets in these centuries old cities. The food was delicious with many choices and fare from the areas we toured, The piano player at night was great. Someone complained in a previous comment - we enjoyed him. Read Less

We have wanted to try a river cruise for some time and we also wanted to experience a Strauss concert. This cruise satisfied both needs. The off boat tours were all amazing, very well organised and the local guides were exceptional. The lady who was Program Director was very good she was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The quality of the food and service was extremely good. There was plenty of choice and more than enough quantity. The evening entertainment on board was better than expected and we enjoyed a dance most evenings. Meeting other nationalities was both interesting and entertaining. The attention to detail and information given both before and during the cruise was very good. The daily itineraries given each day was most helpful and made sure we were in the right place at the right time. We are definitely considering another river cruise and it would definitely be a Viking one. Read Less

Our first river cruise was delightful. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff made it enjoyable. The food was enjoyable with the menu reflecting the countries that we were passing through as well as offering other choices plus a standard menu. The evening meals were normally at 7.00p.m. with one sitting and plenty of time to chat over the provided glass of wine. Dress was smart casual with the emphasis on casual. I only noticed one person wearing a jacket. Entertainment was limited. The pianist was good and each evening there was a local "speciality act" including opera or folk. The included trips were interesting with plenty of walking. Several of the cities had many cobbled streets and we were glad of our sure footed shoes. Some of the trips also had a significant number of steps so it is worth enquiring about this before hand if you have difficulty walking as the older buildings tended not to have disabled access. Most cities had a charge for using the rest rooms "Pay to Pee" which varied from 50 Euro cents to a Euro so make sure you have some coins as not all had a person to give change. Even McDonalds had a 50 cent entry machine. The ship occasionally docked outside town and then shuttle buses were freely provided. Most towns were busy and the ship often docked alongside other hotel boats so the view from the cabin could disappear. Read Less

We have sailed on both Viking River and Viking Ocean ships, which we have enjoyed a great deal. When we saw the itinerary for this trip we decided to go. We are very glad that we did, because we had the most wonderful time. The ports of call were all amazing. We saw and learned a great deal at each stop. All the tour guides were excellent and we especially found the tour guide for the Schonbrunn Palace to be exceptional. There were many highlights of the trip, but two I would like to mention was the Mozart and Strauss concert we attended in Vienna and sailing through the Wachau Valley. We found the service on the ship to be excellent. We were met at Munich Airport by Viking representatives and were brought to the ship promptly, where our cabin was ready for us, and lunch was being served. The wait staff in the dining room was very attentive, the bar staff was top notch and our cabin was kept spotless. Even though we had a substitute program director he did a great job. The hotel director went out of his way to make sure the guests had a good time. We met many nice people and enjoyed dining with them. We found the food to be good. A nice touch was there was coffee and tea service available all day long. In the evening there was a pianist in the lounge and there was an occasional evening activity. The reason why I did not give this trip a 5 star rating was that we have sailed Viking in the past and found the Viking Legend did not have some of the amenities the other ships have. We missed the Aquavit Terrace and the food choices that were available there. We also found that the ship was in need of some updating in that we saw carpets that were worn and needed replacement. We also missed the heated bathroom floors. Before sailing, many fellow passengers received notice that the water level on the Danube was low, but we never received this e-mail. On day 6 of the cruise we were informed that the water level was too low to sail into Budapest and we would have to dock about 45 minutes away and would be bused into Budapest. We were disappointed we would not be sailing into Budapest at night, as we heard this was an amazing experience. Due to many passengers having early morning flights back to the USA, and the ship was docked a distance from the airport, Viking put a number of passengers on the last night into a hotel in Budapest. We were one of the people put into the hotel and I have to commend Viking for how they handled the situation. Even though we had to pack a day earlier than planned and say goodbye sooner to friends we had met, Viking placed us into a very nice hotel, provided a buffet dinner and had a bagged breakfast ready for us in the morning. In the morning the program director was at the hotel making sure we got on the buses safely to get to the airport. In summary we enjoyed our vacation and great deal and hope to sail on Viking again. I've always wanted to take a Viking River Cruise and was finally able to check it off my bucket list this September. I'd heard many great things about them and wasn't disappointed. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, the cabin extremely comfortable. There was always a snack available (a selection of coffees and teas from the beverage station, fresh fruit, fresh cookies) and there was always something going on. The nightly entertainment was pleasant, the selection on the television varied (not that we watched much). I loved the policy of unassigned seating, which gave you a chance to meet other cruisers. We did meet a great couple and had most of our meals together, with a revolving cast of characters each meal. Although we didn't sign on for any of the "special" (additional cost) land tours, all of the tours except one (in Passau) were wonderful and told you a great deal about the port. I would highly recommend this or any Viking River Cruise. The Danube was at historic lows and there was the fear that we might not be able to cruise to each of the ports (Passau, Linz, Krems, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest), they cut short our stop in Bratislava to ensure we could cruise to Budapest because of low water levels. The staff was fantastic and personable and would do anything to enhance your cruise experience. It was a bit expensive but I would definitely go again for a special occasion. Read Less

My mom likes to take her 3 "girls" (all in our 50's) on a trip each summer. This time she picked a doozy. We did the 7 night Danube Waltz with the 4 night pre-cruise extension (Munich and Salzburg). The hotels were well located, and the tours were good. It was nice to have some time to get over jet lag before boarding. Embarkation (for us) went smoothly - we pretty much just walked on, got our keys, and that was it. The ship was docked quite a way outside of Passau, and an afternoon shower meant those arriving late had to literally wade through a deep, muddy puddle to get to the ship. The ship moved in to an in town dock later that evening. That was very odd. I was surprised at how casual the ship was. My sister asked if there was a dress code for evenings, and was told no, and then "as long as you're wearing something!" Many, including me, wore shorts to the dining room many nights (it did get warm by the kitchen). Dining staff was wonderful - so cheerful all the time! Food was decent (a bit hit or miss sometimes), but besides some regional specialties there were always chicken, steak, and fish. Wine poured freely! Sodas as well. Wifi was also included, although it wasn't speedy. My DH and I kept up well via Facebook messenger and email. My sister was a bit frustrated trying to use Facetime (don't), and iMessage (often took a while), and downloading videos of her grandkids (not recommended, but I suppose it was worth it to her). The ship was compact, nicely kept, the cabins a bit on the small size (even compared to ocean cruises). We had our beds separated, which didn't help, I'm sure. I found the beds a bit hard and narrow, but after all that walking daily, I still managed to sleep well enough. We had a "french balcony" on the main level. French balcony apparently means big window (almost, but not quite, floor to ceiling) and a rail to lean on. The cabin was just a couple feet above the waterline, which made for very nice cruising, the few times we cruised during the day. There are cabins below which have small widows just above the waterline. I don't think those would appeal to me at all. The cabins one floor up wouldn't be as close to the water, plus would have the sundeck (and associated chair moving) above, which also wouldn't appeal to me, so I think we chose well. We went through 10 locks, so of course we were on the top deck for the first one (and the last, which was very deep). One side of the ship was always right up against the edge of the lock. If you were on that side, you felt you could just step over the rail.If you were in the cabin, it would get very dark as the ship sank with the water level. Of course if you took the Budapest to Passau cruise, you'd be rising with the water. Most of the tour guides for the included tours were good (one in Munich was dreadful, but our guide for Neuschwanstein more than made up for him). All guides spoke English well, and the headsets were great. We ended up taking the "easy" tours much of the time, since one sister had just injured her knee. It's nice to know they have that option, although you may miss a few things that require more steps/cobblestones/standing. We took a few extra tours (Spanish Riding school in Vienna, a home hosted visit). I found them a good break from cathedrals, churches, and castles (we still saw plenty of those!) I really love that they hand you water whenever you leave the ship, and have it available in the room (no charge). They also have umbrellas available if needed. The buses were comfortable, and never overcrowded. There were some "enrichment" activities, including making strudel, some talks, tours of the tiny galley and even tinier bridge. There were some singers one night, but the less said about them, the better. Ouch. Overall, an excellent experience. As for value for money, um, it wasn't cheap - I'm glad Mom paid! Read Less

We chose this particular cruise because we wanted to see a part of Europe we had never seen before and to also celebrate our 25 year anniversary. Viking was a dream vacation we had saved for and we were not disappointed at all! We also were lucky enough to meet and make friends with a Federal Judge on board with us who was allowed by the captain to renew our vows in the ships library, and which the crew also helped by creating a beautiful area for us, plus our guest services attendant surprised me by making a bouquet of roses for me, plus surprising us with a cake, towel swans and hearts with balloons and champagne waiting for us in our room, plus the events coordinator (who sings quite well), dedicated a song for us too! Viking cruises will be the only cruise line I will use again in the future! Read Less

Service was excellent. Really enjoyed most of the excursions. Excellent in country guides. Highlights of the trip: mid day organ concert in Passau, sailing through the Wachau Valley, Sailing into Budapest at night, visit to Gottesweig Abbey, Mozart Concert in Vienna, visit to Medieval Town of Czesy Krumwald( Czech Republic. ) Food was a bit of a letdown. breakfast were fine but dinners lacked taste. We decided to have two dinners off the ship. Found a fun Greek restaurant in the square in KremsAustria and an excellent Hungarian restaurant along the Danube by the Chain Bridge in Budapest. Really appreciated the daily briefing provided by David our Cruise Director. Evening entertainment was a bit hokey. Enjoyed how to make apple strudel demonstration with ships chef. Read Less

The Abbey with the Apricot Snapps was amazingly beautiful and only Viking tourists were present. The daily trips were wonderful from the timing to the bus drivers to what we saw. We did some extras and the Wine Garden in Vienna was our best trip. We didnthe Prestay in Munich and Saltzburg. Our hotels were great as was the Neuwienstein Castle and the Sound If Music day. We met the most lovely people aboard and will be friends with several for life. Thanks Viking for such Hospitality. We will return and hopefully try one of your Ocean Cruises. A++ Read Less

My best friend and I chose this trip for a special 60th birthday cruise and a retirement present for myself. As first time cruisers of this type we thought an all inclusive escorted cruise was the way to go and it certainly was. The ship was clean and the crew were all welcoming and pleasant. Our cabin was relaxing and the floor to ceiling window was so nice to see all the scenery we were passing going down the river. The dining was amazing, our plan was to have eggs benedict every morning and creme brulee every night, the food was so fresh and some of the best I've ever had. Not one thing was near sub-par. The chef highlighted and explained the regional specialties and even gave us a tour of the kitchen. The mid ship coffee-cookie station was a favorite spot, every night Raquel would put out "good-night" oatmeal cookies and macaroons plus chocolate chip cookies were available all day with all varieties of teas and coffees. The library was a quiet place at the back of the ship to sit and relax to take in the scenery. The shore excursions were well planned, I would of liked to have had more time to shop for souvenirs. The tour buses were very comfortable, what a great way to sight-see on the way to the excursions. I would definitely go again and am thinking about an ocean cruise with Viking based on the river cruise experience. Going into Budapest at night with the well lit buildings and bridges was a sight I'll never forget. Read Less

This was our first ever river cruise and I was pleasantly surprised. Our cabin was very nice and the service was outstanding. Loved the intimacy of the boat and the fact that we got to meet to many wonderful people and made some lasting friendships. We explored Munich prior to getting on the boat and Viking did such a wonderful job of making that so enjoyable. There was nothing that we had to worry about. Embarkation and disembarkation was also so smooth. Every detail was arranged and so well organized, even at the airport of arrival and departure. The dining experience was great each and every night. Loved all of the port excursions and the fact that they are included in the one price. We took many additional ones to take advantage of all we could see and do and everything was organized and effortless on our part. This is a cruise that I would definitely do again. As a matter of fact, we did have another one booked. Read Less

We decided on the Viking Danube Waltz River Cruise for our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration because of it's all inclusiveness/little planning on our part appeal. We have never been outside of the United States except for a tropical Disney Cruise. We were dreading the long flights since we don't even like 3 hours flights within the states, but we survived. We toured from Passau to Budapest with most stops in Austria. We signed up for all of the included tours and thoroughly enjoyed them all . . . knowledgeable and easy to understand guides and having the headsets was great. I could hang back to take pictures and still hear what was going on ahead of me and catch up. The food on the ship was excellent and our servers very attentive. There was a buffet at breakfast and lunch as well as the choice to order off of a menu. I enjoyed an omelet prepared to my liking every morning and a delicious blueberry muffin - both on the buffet. Ordering from the menu at lunch and dinner is a gourmet meal experience. Several courses, small portions and inviting presentations. Most everything was delicious. Unless you want specialty beers, wine or mixed drinks, no need to upgrade your beverage package . . . you get endless wine and beer. We don't drink so it would be nice to be able to pay a little less to not have that benefit. The couple we sat with for most dinners each drank at least 3 glasses of wine with their meal . . . they were getting more bang for the buck ;) We had a French Balcony room which was perfect. It was too chilly to be sitting out on a Veranda in October. Between the drawers and closet, we had plenty of room to store all of our things with room under the bed to store our empty suitcases. It was as if an elf was cleaning it as we seldom actually saw our maid. The Viking Legend and others like it have been retired so this may no longer be an issue, but the shower curtain was difficult to keep from allowing water to escape . . . that's really my only complaint about the room. I think the showers have glass doors in the Longships they are sailing now. It seemed most people on our cruise were from the states and around our age or older. We were 59 and 61 at the time. I think I saw one girl about 11 traveling with her mother . . . they were the young folk on the ship, but seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. As I'm writing this review of our cruise last year, we've just booked another . . . the Rhine Getaway in July. So, that should tell you that we had a great time and are ready for another European adventure less than a year later. I highly recommend taking a Viking Cruise. And get in on a 2 for 1 package . . .I notice people paying much more than we paid . . . so unnecessary. Read Less

Professional, friendly, caring, vigilante to our every need. highlights, for us, included the side trip to Terezin, Cresky Krumlov, and viewing the countryside from the boat. Loved going through the locks too. Accompanying our chef to the market in Vienna was an unexpected pleasure. Great guy and a great inside view of the market and his resources.. Every tour guide was so well informed. Easy to understand and their knowledge of history was so impressive. We learned so much,it's hard to relate in such a short space. The rooms and meals were great too, but really secondary to the entire cruise experience. We recommend this to our friends as truly a unique travel experience. Read Less

Guided tours in the morning are very informative, plus there is ample time during the day to explore on your own. Our flight was delayed enroute. In spite of that, Viking still met us and provided transportation to the ship. We stayed over after the cruise ended soViking arranged for transportation to the train station, and booked our return flight from another airport. If there was anything we needed , we just had to ask The kitchen prepared for my wife's special diatary needs, and every meal was top notch. The cabins were very comfortable. We booked this trip about 15 months ahead and we really enjoyed the planning part. Viking reps were fantastic, knowledgeable and patient. And OMG!!! We were not disappointed! From door to door Viking took very good care of us and fortunately our trip went perfectly!!!! Not one complaint!! The staff was very warm, sincere, and worked very hard to make sure we had the best trip ever. And with my food allergies, the staff was extremely caring giving me exactly what I needed. All the excursions were great (soo many were included) with the local guides. They were soo knowledgable and very personable too. I couldn't say more about how happy I was with our trip. We are looking forward to our next trip (when time & $$ allows)and will gladly book with Viking. Read Less

We'd done two previous Viking River Cruises (Amsterdam to Basel and Prague to Paris) and our last tour guide said we absolutely would love the cruise on the Danube, so we took her recommendation. She was right! Budapest is an absolutely fascinating and beautiful city. As always, the food on board was excellent every meal. River cruising has spoiled us for any other kind of trip. The land tours included in the price of the tour covered the highlights of the city/town we visited. We also took advantage of some of the optional tours which further enhanced our trip. The limited number of passengers makes for an enjoyable time as opposed to the crush of 3,000 people trying to get on/off cruise ships and pour into a town all at once. The staff has always been so solicitous of our well-being -- genuinely concerned that we have a memorable vacation experience. Read Less

Except for one thing, the cruise (Castles and Legends Tour) was perfect. Excellent food and service, everything top notch. The boat was very nice and the crew were superb top to bottom. The tour guides were also topnotch, and very well versed for our tours. Only complaint was one of the optional tours we added, the Vienna Highlights tour. It was about $140 additional per person. Anyone thinking about this tour should not waste their time; just do the regular Vienna City Tour and add on Schoenbrunn Palace ($59 per person). With the Vienna Highlights tour, we got no time to shop or do our own exploring, which the City Tour did allow. The only difference was that our tour had an included lunch. It was a fixed menu (with pasta as the main course) and no substitutions. The lunch was VERY average and basically cost us an extra $80 per person, very disappointing, especially since we had to pass on the waltz class that was part of the Vienna Highlights package just to be able to see and go into some sites we would not have otherwise been able to do. Notwithstanding that, I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone (just avoid the optional Vienna Highlights tour as mentioned above. Cabins were a bit smaller than I thought but, since we did not spend a lot of time there, not that much of an issue. Read Less

Actually our trip was longer, we did the Castles & Legends tour which adds two nights in Munich, two nights in Salzburg before taking you to Passau to board the ship. My rating for the cruise portion is definitely five stars - I had a couple of issues w/ the land portion which I attribute to rainy weather(no fault of Viking), the newness of the land portion and logistics, and the Munich hotel that we stayed at. The service was impeccable on the Legend, from Program Director David Morgan (who was absolutely the best organizer & communicator) to our cabin housekeeper, Timea. Viking runs a very organized program and ship which made for a stress-free vacation. All we had to do was show up, they brought our bags in, and we unpacked, and we just let Viking organize our lives for the next eight days. Food was excellent, interesting entrees and starter courses; nice variety at breakfast(including sparkling wine @ 7:00 AM!), bounty of salad at lunch as well as interesting small plates of appetizers, a variety of main entrees for lunch or you could have a casual buffet lunch up in the lounge. In fact one day I wasn't interested in the luncheon entrees so I went up to get a burger from the casual buffet and brought it back down to the restaurant. River cruises don't overfeed you (though you can overeat) like big ocean cruises, but we always had cookies available all afternoon w/ the coffee & tea service. I did mention the sparkling wine at breakfast, beer, wine, soft drinks are included w/ lunch & dinner and they served very nice wines(local to the region) - not some box wines. Almost all excursions are included, there are a few that are optional and cost extra. Program director David would do a briefing each evening to discuss the plans for the next day's excursions and any needed changes. With regards to ports, I wish we had arrived at the ship earlier to see Passau, we only did the walking tour & organ concert and then sailed by 1:00 PM to get to our next destination. We only have a few hours in Bratislava - for some reason I thought we had a much longer period - it would have been nice to have spent some more time there. Coming into Budapest at night was stunning - Viking had really thought through this itinerary for the most visual impact. We were very busy every day going on excursions in our various ports. Going to Cesky Krumlov was an absolutely delightful day trip. There was some entertainment each night, but quite frankly we were beat by the end of the day so we were not interested in staying up. Viking would provide bottled water in your cabin and also provided bottled water as you left the ship for your excursion. For disembarkation, some had very early flights & had to leave before breakfast was available, Viking provided wrapped sandwiches in addition to pastries for those folks to take with them, a very nice touch. We appreciated the lack of formalness for dinner - made it much easier for packing clothes. If you book your flights w/ Viking, they handle all transportation to and from the airport. We went to Budapest airport via bus depending on our scheduled flights. There were two Viking reps at the airport but they were useless; on a Sunday AM, there were hundreds of passengers for Lufthansa and the queues were unbelievably long - the departure terminal just cannot handle the volume of passengers. Probably would have been better to stay a couple of extra days in Budapest and leave midweek. Other reviews were critical of the age of the Legend - it was fine, maybe the curtains are bleached from the very hot sun and the carpet is well walked on but the ship was very clean. I had heard that it was being taken out of service. With regards to the land portion of Castle & Legends, my first poor impression was checking into the Westin Grand Munich - we had arrived on an early AM flight, picked up by the Viking rep, bussed to the hotel and then proceeded to sit for several hours before we were provided a room, Viking should consider making arrangements w/ the hotel for arriving guests to have a room even if check-in is not suppose to be until 3:00 PM - front desk was unfriendly and curt when checking about availability and while we were waiting, another group of tourists arrived and they were given their rooms right away. The Neuschwanstein Castle is high up on a road that is at least a steep mile climb up. Either Viking needs to make special arrangements w/ the shuttle company to bus everyone up or include in the literature that it is a strenuous walk up. As part of our Munich City tour we stopped at the BMW building - not sure why - and got into Salzburg about 5:00 PM at the height of rush hour. Traffic on the interstate was extremely crowded late Friday PM - would have been better to leave Munich earlier and miss all the interstate traffic on a Friday afternoon. Sheraton Salzburg was an excellent hotel, conveniently located by Mirabell Gardens and close to the Old Town - Salzburg was very worthwhile to visit. On Sunday, we did the Sound of Music tour(including Mondsee) & Sankt Gilgen which is near Mondsee; we seemed to be spending time in these villages (for lunch) when we could have gone ahead, traveled to Passau, get settled on the ship where there was a light lunch being served and have a chance to see Passau. Especially since it was raining heavily all AM which made it unpleasant for touring sights. We were extremely pleased w/ the cruise & ports - so glad that we chose Viking and the Danube for our first river cruise. We have already booked a two week river cruise on the Seine & Rhone for 2017 with Viking! Read Less

We chose this cruise to see a different part of Europe from those previously visited. The cruise and tour were very well coordinated with the staff and crew anticipating our areas of uncertainty and individual needs. We particularly enjoyed the tour guides in the smaller cities who shared their childhood memories in their home town. Several of them had visited, or lived in the US, which gave them insight as to how we would interpret their presentation. They also gave us the best value lunch suggestion (Travellers Pub in Chesky Krumilov) Food was very well prepared, though central European entree cuisine is , by nature, redundant. The American options, available at every meal were a welcome alternative. Portion sizes were moderate, allowing enjoyment of multiple courses without overeating. Beer and wine, included at lunch and dinner, were terrific. We were encouraged to bring aboard local wines for between meal enjoyment . These were inexpensive and excellent as well. Unlike other cruises we have been on, the staff did not pressure us to buy "extras" . but rather quietly suggested and additional complimentary glass of wine or beer to take up on the sun deck after meals. The viking representative at the Budapest departure airport was particularly helpful in a chaotic check-in process. While the cost of the trip was significant, there were no surprise costs and no skimping. THe value was very good. Read Less

From the time we landed in Munich to our debarkation in Budapest, Viking handled everything smoothly and seamlessly. Our hotel rooms in Munich and Salzburg were extraordinarily good, and the cabin aboard the Viking Legend was comfortable and convenient. The food was delicious and well presented, with an interesting variety of local fare, served with bottomless glasses and cups of beverages of our choice. The staff was not only professional and efficient, but they seemed to truly enjoy their work, indicating to me that they are well taken care of by their employers. No personal request was held to be inconvenient to them. Our tours and excursions were guided by local people in every port, so they knew their subjects intimately. The drivers were smooth, efficient, and personable. Onboard entertainment was interesting, too, though the lounge entertainer for cocktail hour and evening hours was rather too schmaltzy for our taste. We also had plenty of time to wander in each port and to hang out onboard, so we were neither over-stimulated nor bored. It was an ideal vacation, the best we've ever had, and I look forward to cruising with Viking again. Read Less
