Wanted try something different other than Grandeur in December. The service on the ship was excellent. This is something we have grown to expect on RCCL. Our cabin attendant was excellent. Joseph was not very talkative but he was prompt and pleasant for his service.

Anthem sails out of Bayonne and we live in NJ so it was an easy ride. After exploring parking optons to try to control costs, we parked at the port which was an excessive $22 a day. (Other local parking lots seem cheaper until you add in Bayonne City taxes, etc. Then the difference is minimal.)

We have sailed on Carnival several times, but were ready to take a chance on a ship that left out of New Jersey where we live. The fact that we did not have to book flights and hotels was awesome. Cabin #10134 - deck 10 balcony room (just for reference). This is our 3rd trip on Anthem in 7 years.
The good on the ship: Waiter in the English Pub was AWESOME! Big happy personality. Nearly all of the staff was very good aboard Anthem. Entertainment (with the exclusion of Spectra) was great. We Will Rock You is a must see. Most of the staff in the shops were very helpful and polite. ...

We chose the cruise as we stayed in New York for a few days and were drawn to the itinerary and wanted sail out of New York. The cruise port (once you get there) was good, embarkation was easy and quick, disembarkation was good apart from RC managed to drop and split one of our suitcases, not sure how but they did.

We chose this cruise first because it was to cruise out of Cape Liberty. The second reason we chose it was because it was a 9-day trip. We had cruised on a 7-day and a 9-day before having children. Sailing on this cruise were myself 56, husband 55, son 25 and his fiance 25. This was our second cruise on Anthem. We drove from our home in Northern Virginia to the cruise port in Bayonne on the day of sailing, a Thursday, and traffic was amazingly smooth. And it is so nice to drive to port and not have to worry about the weight of your bags or whether they will get lost!

We enjoyed our cruise on Anthem. Keep in mind that a larger ship does not necessarily mean more to offer, just more people in this case (in our opinion). We enjoyed our last RC ship Jewel of the Seas as much as Anthem, maybe even more.
