The worst and most expensive cruise we have ever done

This was a bucket list holiday for my husband and I travelling from Minneapolis, Minnesota to New Orleans. We paid over £6000 each for a 14 day holiday - a majority of Americans paid $20,000 per cabin. We travelled from Redwing Minneapolis to New Orleans in an inside cabin. This was the cheapest cabin available. Our holiday started on 12th September and ended 26th September 2022. The weather ...

Slightly disappointing trip

This cruise was booked in 2019 for sailing in 2020, but eventually we did it in April 2022. New Orleans to Memphis. Check in at the Hilton Riverside the day before, plus Covid test, was straightforward. We did not stay at the Hilton, but on departure day made our way to the Hilton by cab. We had booked the pre-cruise excursion, which was excellent. Amusing and informative guide for a 4 hour ...

We had been on this lines American countess in the northwest 2 years ago and had a wonderful time. With all of the Covid precautions we felt very comfortable. The ship was lovely, but the trip began with a mechanical problem that held us over in New Orleans for an extra day. Being experienced cruisers we did not find this upsetting, besides, an extra day in New Orleans is a bonus. I do have to ...

I have been on over 20 cruises and I believe I can evaluate from experience This was the worst cruise that I have ever been on. The irony is that that Cruise line did not care These were the low points; BOAT dirty. I have dozens of photos of filth, cigarette butts, dirty dishes and glasses. The Boat went no where at the start because it broke and they told us nothing. They ...

Great river cruise - don't worry about negative reviews

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Queen

This was our second river cruise - the first was a few years ago down the Danube in August. The American Queen is a very special ship, not only because of the beautiful furnishings, collectibles and artwork which is abundant, but because of the paddlewheel. Its power is ever present, and is mesmerizing. Visits to the engine room are encouraged. We cruised from New Orleans to Memphis. The ...

We (my wife, myself, my daughter and her spouse) had always wanted to try a US Cruise Ship on the Mississippi River, We started at New Orleans and traveled to Menmphis, the hotel the ship chose was a part of the pre trip was excellent and we actually booked it via separate reservations a day early, The room on board was nice, however our steward was at best poor, in fact the ship changed him ...

Cruising the Lower Mississippi

I was invited to join friends on this cruise. New Orleans is a great place to visit pre-cruise. Our hotel was within walking distance of many attractions. Cabin was small but compact, clean and orderly. The bathroom was good size and the walkin shower excellent. Amenities included were shampoo, lotion, shower gel, nice size bar of hand soap. The food was plentiful, many choices, and of ...

Excellent Experience on the American Queen

We sailed on the American Queen from New Orleans to Memphis in March of 2019. Due to mother nature the river was too high on the river when we sailed. The American Queen had to make a few adjustments from our original itinerary. However, this process seemed to be done very well. We were notified in advance of what would be changing before getting on the boat, and still were able to see ...

Very enjoyable with one unfortunate flaw

After having taken three ocean cruises, the cruise aboard the American Queen was a very nice change. We enjoyed the more personal service that is possible with a maximum capacity of 430 passengers. We appreciated the helpfulness and pleasant demeanor of all the staff we encountered. The boat and its furnishings are very nice and seemed to be well maintained. The only equipment problem I noted ...
