NO SOAP - RADIO : Cabin 5023
On the previous cruise we were upgraded to a porch - not a balcony. This time we had a larger room. I suspect that since there was no porch, the room was larger by the area of the porch. I preferred the oceanview room over the porch.

I was very happy with the size and amount of storage in the cabin. One minor annoyance was the crew washing down the outside of the porthole at 1:00 am on two different nights, which woke me up.

I stayed in 8134 an obstructed view balcony room. MSC upgraded my room after their price went down. Note they were only willing to do so because I booked directly through MSC. My other friends and family that booked through a third party were not allowed to upgrade. My room was great, spacious and lots of room for everything. When I arrived it was very dusty and look like it had not been thoroughly cleaned. I asked my cabin steward to please detail the room that night. When I came back from dinner it was spotless and all the nooks and crannies were cleaned and dusted. Even smelled fresher. However my mother staying in ocean view 8161 did not have the same luck we asked her steward to please sanitize the bathroom as it smelled disgusting from the previous guests and nothing. She asked every day and was ignored. This is her first time cruising and she did not want to make a big deal out it so she let it be. Read Less

Our Oceanview Stateroom with a porthole was small but fine, and was quite dirty upon our arrival. Corners of shelves and corners of the floor appeared to have never been cleaned. Dust and dirt was caked in the corners. There were cut toenails on the carpet, and hairs in the drawers, for example. (And the bathroom always smelled like sewer gas!) After tracking down our cabin steward, he said he had been in a rush, and would clean it again for us, but by then we were trying to unpack, etc. They apparently do not routinely provide washcloths either. We had to ask special more than once, because we hadn't been given any. He told us "this is a European ship"... he would get some to us if they gave any to him, and there was no guarantee. There was no 110 volt outlet near the bed to use for my CPAP machine, and when I went to the front desk to ask for an extension cord, I had to pay a $30 deposit to ensure its return. The ugly extension cord was falling apart and had to be stretched across the small cabin for the week. I think a ship sailing from Miami should have easily accessible, working 110 outlets placed appropriately throughout the cabin. This was not the case. One at the desk, and one in the ceiling of the bathroom. Both worn out and wiggly. Read Less
