We took the family of 11 on a Thanksgiving Cruise. We paid $200.00 per cabin to have "priority embarkation and debarkation"...HAH! do not fall for this ruse. We were the only people that knew this...the staff didn't know this, it meant nothing to the cruise staff and in fact, it hindered us getting on board. When we tried to board, the staff said priority boarding did not apply out side of the ship (?) and we were in a huge crowd of hundreds of people trying to get in the ship...mostly going under taped off lines until the police were called because of the commotion and moved everybody back further. If you broke the law as most did you got on right away because the staff was clueless. On board my 81 year old husband could not connect his medical breathing machine by the bed as there are no outlets. I called the room steward and she said they were on the vanity...I asked if she wanted him to sleep on the vanity? She brought an extension cord that stretched across the room that we tripped over. We are not infirm but it was hard to avoid the extension cord stretched across the room.We were sprayed down with bleach each time we went into public places as there was norovirus on board and they would not let you into dining rooms unless you were thoroughly hosed down. Every condition of' priority' was disallowed even though we were in suites. So we tried to connect with the room steward but they were not available until the second day...we slept in our clothes as did the entire family the first night. Really? a $20,000 vacation and we are sleeping in our clothes...never never again! Read Less

They make them two at a time, cut them in 4 pieces each and serves 4 people two pieces each. they make grilled cheese, but they don't grill them, they toast them with mayo inside. Not good. Long line here too. But wait, they have chicken nuggets, french fries and pizza by ordering room service but you must pay for these items. Plus you'll have to wait on the phone and for it to be delivered. TABLE SERVICE: people in Lido did not p/u dishes, they waited till your done Dining room; four of us eating brunch. My wife's food came after we 3 were done. She had to eat alone. Kids menu had mac and cheese but it was to fancy for kids. Swimming pools: baby and toddlers in diapers not swim wear. Kids ocean program: these people are the best. They did a great job for my grandkids. Read Less

First time doing a 7 week cruise and had heard great things about NCL. Wow was that the furthest thing from the truth. Before we even boarded the ship we received an email from our travel agent the day before with this: "Costco Travel received the following information in regards to your Norwegian Star sailing November 24, 2019 Due to a full immigration inspection, check-in for Norwegian Joy's sailing on November 24th has been delayed and will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the ship's new departure time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Please arrive at the pier during the new check-in hours. " Well they flat out lied to everyone on board the ship, the reason for the delay for due to a NOROVIRUS outbreak on the ship and they were still trying to contain it. We were a party of 10 that my mother-in-law had saved years to send us all on and almost ALL OF US came down with some sort so stomach illness while on board. We were not informed about the illness until we were at our muster station which we were told by other passengers but by that time is too late to get off the ship. And I didn't even begin with the almost mob seen they had outside trying to get on the ship with no one directing people where to go. They eventually had to call in the port authority to help with crowd control. While on the ship, mini golf, the library and ping pong where all closed due to the sickness. But for some reason they were able to keep open there money makers in the Casino, Video games and the go cart track. I find it very interesting they close down some of the free entertainment but kept open the ones they make money on all day. Lines at all the restaurants were out of control, at the buffet everyone had to be served and could not touch any of the plates, silverware, condiments which I understand due to all the people getting sick. But EVERYTHING TOOK FOREVER TO GET, plus if you wanted to get reservations to one of the nice restaurants good luck unless you wanted to eat dinner at 9 or 9:30PM. Shame on you Norwegian you should be giving all 3800 on board a refund for this disaster of a cruise. This ship needs to be in quarantine until there are no other reported cases of the NOROVIRUS and you sent the same ship out again the day we got back. Read Less

After my Mother saving for years to take the whole family on a cruise (all 10 of us) we departed on November 24th, 2019. There was a delay in boarding that we were lied to and told it was an immigration issue. It was not, it was a norovirus issue. The lines were so bad and the people were so upset it was getting dangerous. The police were called to manage the crowd and I had to remove my children from the situation and go back after a while. unacceptable from the beginning. The shore excursion in Mazatlán was a nightmare:it was the open air bus with not enough seats so we were down below, the bus caught on fire, it was 3 and a half hours and advertised as 2 and a half, the bus was unsafe and uncomfortable. All 10 of us got sick. The staff was rude and clearly overworked, exhausted and at their wits end. Lines everywhere-very few dinner reservations, mini golf closed, ping pong closed, library closed. All because of the virus. It was horrendous. Read Less

Went on the Norwegian Joy Nov 24-Dec 1. Ship had Norovirus outbreak. Ship was filthy. Our stateroom was not ready until 10:00 PM the first evening. Hallway smelled like poop and throw up.. Crew was extremely rude and un-friendly. I am sure they were being overworked due to the Norovirus out break.. Very poorly laid out ship. Focus seems to build as many state rooms as possible. Pool is very small and loaded with kids. Sun decks were very crowded. for 3800 people there was not enough pools nor deck space. Been on 10 cruises this was the worst. Entertainment really was really poor-- Footloose and elements were boring (don't waste your time) . Food in the specialty dining was very good but service is very slow - The buffet was very crowded and dirty.. I would never recommend a Cruise on the Joy... We have been on a sister ship the Escape and that was a nice cruise. Read Less

Our recent trip aboard NCL Joy was a horrible disappointment. Getting onboarding was a disorganized mess with long lines and no one to communicate what was going on. Then we find out that the ship had the Norovirus. The ship was constantly being cleaned. Our room steward was hard to get a hold of and didn't answer the phone. Our toilet went out and once fixed had a horrible odor the entire trip. The food was mediocre and the service was slow in the dining rooms. The shows were good, but if you didn't booked reservations before you boarded, you couldn't see it. So much for freestyling. They announced activities in the newsletter that were a misprint or cancelled. If you weren't in the Haven, your menu options were limited. Carnival's regular menu was much better. Most people get to enjoy one vacation a year and we felt that we were being nickle and dined at every turn. If you didn't spend extra on speciality dining, your meals were suboptimal. The service was also very slow. It was not a Joy sailing on the Joy at all. Read Less

Over all the experience was horrible. Every crew member encountered was unfriendly. SAVOR RESTAURANT: It took over 2 hours to order and eat at Savor restaurant (we ate there daily at B, L & D). The serving staff could not get the orders correct (i.e. I would like 7 hard boiled eggs, and they bring 2). Missing drinks when ordered. Took 20 minutes to even get a person to come to the table with menus. There were lots of people standing around at the restaurant. GARDEN CAFE: Each food station had to have crew serve you. When you asked fore a second scoop of something, they glared at you and acted like it was an inconvenience. Tables were not bussed and finding a seat for a meal was difficult. OVERALL RESTAURANT: They ask you to wash hands every time you go into a restaurant (Washie, washie, happy, happy). However, the washing, the hand sanitizer or the spray from a squirt bottle does not work against Norovirus. The food was bland and not very appetizing. I had 7 layer cake from Cagney's Steakhouse and it was just okay. Each time we chose to have cheesecake, it was warm. Food was not be taken out of any restaurant. One of the people in my travel party brought fruit from the Garden cafe to the Atrium for an activity. She was verbally attacked by a "cleaning up person" around the Atrium Bar. CHECKING IN PROCESS: Bags were given to the drop off location. When joining in the line we were then given a paper that said the Norovirus was on the previous cruise and 2% of crew and guest were affected. We had to wait a long time in the terminal building. There was a person handing our bottle water (which I appreciated) but she looked every person that asked for water up and down before giving it out. CRUISE ACTIVITIES: There were a fair number of free events, however the majority was pay to play. I have heard that Norwegian "nickel and dimes you" throughout the cruise. When there was a free activity (like in the Atrium) there were so many people there, there was no where to sit. It also was very loud and couldn't hear what was being said on the microphone. The GLOW PARTY (formerly the WHITE OUT PARTY) was the only bright spot of the entertainment. QUIET SPACES: There was two places we found quiet. The deck 8 outside walkway (however people were loud out there too) and the Brew House Bar. People would walk in the hallway outside the room talk and laughing loud without a concern for people sleeping at midnight. NOROVIRUS: The ship gave information that our cruise had only 19 people with the condition. However the doctor on the ship told me that 50 rooms were affected. That doesn't add up. A person in our group was quarantined for 48 hours because she vomited once and had diarrhea once. When she told them she thought the chicken was bad from lunch, they did not even address it. Other people we talked to on the ship also said the chicken was bad and reported to the cruise staff, but was dismissed as not a big deal. DRINK PACKAGES: I chose to have the Ultimate Drink Package for myself. Unfortunately I had to pay for the Soda Package for my son who does not drink soda. On tip of that Gratuities were ridiculously high - 20%? This cruise line did not have a "sipper bottle" and all of the drinks had to be asked for at the bars. There is only one option for people who want soda and are a Diabetic (Diet Pepsi). CRUISE SHOPS & MERCHANDISE: If you wanted to buy big expensive jewelry, watches or clothing this is the cruise for you. Every other cruise I have been on they would have merchandise with the ships logo (polos, t-shorts, towels, etc..). This cruise had very little of that. For around 4 hours of the entire cruise they had t-shirts to sell (buy 4 for $40). However they did not have all of the sizes in stock and I couldn't get a matching shirt any of my group. RACETRACK: We were really looking forward to this. My 18-year old son wanted the unlimited race track pass. We waited in the line on-board to purchase the pass. However when he showed up to the line for his first race, they said he was beyond the weight limit for the cars. This was not posted on NCL's website nor was explained at the reservation desk when we purchased the pass. I am sure that I am missing tons more. I would not recommend booking a Norwegian Cruise Line cruise in the future. Read Less

I wish I could say I hadn't felt shanghaied being aboard the Norwegian Joy on the cruise that left Los Angeles on November 24th, but I did. I wish I could say I understand the business practice of not informing booked passengers of the real reason for the change in boarding within the voicemail messages and texts sent out on November 22nd, but I don’t. Informing people of the reason for the delay while they are standing in line waiting to board the ship on the 24th may be legal but it is unethical. It is also disrespectful of their decision-making rights. I understand that some of the more fortunate guests living in the LA area made the decision to postpone their cruises after reading the letter given to us as we stood in line at the terminal. For the majority of people who flew into LA, this “option” was not a real one but only words on a paper. Once we got aboard the ship, it didn't feel like a vacation at all. There was stress and tension everywhere. There were also long lines for everything because we weren't allowed to touch anything for ourselves, even grab a glass of water. We had reservations for Thanksgiving dinner, but once we saw how long we'd have to wait in line to get into the restaurant, we paid extra and went to a specialty restaurant. The cabin was typical of a balcony cabin, but because the attendant had to disinfect and sanitize all the rooms continually, we only saw her once a day, instead of the standard twice a day. The crew really tried to make the best of the situation and worked very hard. The best part of the ship was the Observation Lounge on the 15th floor, which as the cruise went on became more and more crowded. By the end of the cruise (the last sea day), there wasn't a table or seat to be found. We have cruised the Mexican Riviera many times, and in light of the onboard situation, we decided to stay in our cabins or keep a low profile. While I believe never say never, I don't see myself taking Norwegian Cruise Lines again. For us, it was a waste of money, no vacation, and extremely stressful. Plus the deceit of being lied to, on NOT being told the real reason, but that it was an immigration problem, and then told about the norovirus colored the entire trip for me. Read Less

1. Lack luster entertainment. The cruise director was extremely boring. Trivia games were not entertaining. Overall, there was nothing to do on the ship. DJ the comedian was good. The magician Leone Ettien was good but tried to sell his magic kit which was very tacky. The friday 7p show was terrible. 2. Staff was unfriendly. Wait staff Cleaned dirty dishes on dining tables instead of going into a private area. 3. Gala nights were not at all exciting to the extent that we didnt even dress up for the 2nd gala night. 4. Timing for dinner was very inconvenient. Main meals (lido market) stopped at 2p and 8:30p for dinner which was very odd. 5. Club Hal was cancelled? The kids room was a pathetic little conference room. Unclear as to why the arcade space was limited to 7-17yr old kids during most of the day. Having at least that space for all kids would have been helpful but let's be clear, the arcade was limited and ultimately boring. With 300 kids on board, one would think more of an effort would be made to entertain them. Staff did not change duvet covers even if they were stained. We had chocolate stains on our bedding throughout the cruise. The shops were over -priced and lacking in style. The Thanksgiving sale was a joke. This experience was terrible and we will never go on HAL. Read Less

This was our first cruise as a family. My husband and I are both in our 30’s. My son is 10 and daughter is 5. Unfortunately Royal Princess put such a bad taste in our mouth that this would be our first and last time on a cruise. We we’re ready to come back after the 2 day of our 7 day cruise. Here are a couple things why. We were told by our travel agent that this ship would be kid friendly which was not at all the case, my kids were bored the entire time. The Kids discovery is only open 9 hrs a day and they chop that into 3 hours so by the time you drop them off you need to pick them up again which would of been fine if they were actually having fun. My daughter never wanted to go and my son only went because there was nothing else to do for his age. They didn’t have any activities for them outside the Discovery camp. They’re activities were mostly for people who are 60 and above, the only thing my husband and I enjoyed was the comedy show. The food was absolutely awful! Very low quality with no taste when it comes to seasoning. My husband and I both lost weight if that gives you an idea of how bad the food was! Everyday was the same thing only some minor tweaks. If you want good food be prepared to pay for it because all the ones included in your ticket are horrible. Overall we were extremely bored and spent 80% of the time in our room, we felt very disappointed and let down. Please take my review very seriously when making your decision and explore better cruise lines when it comes to food, cleanliness, and Entertainment. Read Less

The library had 22 books in it for 3900 passengers...the least stocked of any ship I've been on. Better bring your own books or you'll be bored to death. Only two dining rooms for anytime dining...and one will only let you in after 7:15pm. NCL is much better at their dining options and anytime is all the time. A much better cruise line for dining. I cruise on holland america because they are the line that Legendary Blues Cruise charters. I would NEVER pay to go on this line otherwise. This last trip, end of october 2019, was especially bad. The food, especially the desserts and baked goods, were a travesty! While there was occasionally a decent item- flourless choc. cake, the popover rolls on the salad bar, I found most items to range between bad and disgusting. As a pastry chef with experience working in large scale operations (caesars vegas) in addition to small, fine dining establishments, i can tell you there is no excuse for food this bad. The apple pie was like a block of rubber, the choc souffle was accompanied by a sauce of watery cocoa, the cupcakes were frosted with some unknown rubber substance, the cookies were bland and overbaked, the ice cream was the cheapest pre-purchased crap available, the breads, rolls, etc, were flavorless and stale, etc. The hot food in the dining room was okay, but quality has definitely slipped in the last year. The buffet food was mediocre to bad- the pasta tasted exactly like Spaghetti-O's. i paid full price for a veranda cabin at the back of the ship (room 8175) Nice room, but not sure if something is wrong with the engines or what, but the constant vibration make it look like a strobe light when the bedside gooseneck lamp was on. That would have been okay, except every 20-40 seconds, the ship would give a jolt that would physically move me in the bed. I will continue to sail on this line only because of the great music and passengers on the blues cruise, but if you are looking to cruise for pleasure, definitely look elsewhere! Read Less

PacifIc Coastal cruises are great for a relaxing getaway but not this time: 2.5 hours for embarkation and the lifeboat drill after 11 pm was just the start of this disaster vacation that created more stress an angst than one could ever imagine! When it was time to get off at the ports they were long lines weaving around the entire ship. Try booking specialty restaurants – nothing was ever even available yet there were still lines to waiting for them to tell you that nothing was available. Except for some special instances the food was average at best. Forget the bus say unless you wanted to spend an hour walking around trying to find a seat. Oh and if you want to try any entertainment don’t even think about it on the ship. Embarkation I got a taxi to the port in LA and we instantly hit serious traffic the second we got to the port entrance. It took half an hour to go half a mile. I ended up getting out of the taxi and walking the rest of the way. I then had to stand in line for security for 40 minutes and once I got through that there was 'priority' check in. 'Priority' with NCL means anyone who has ever cruised with them before whether that's a 3 day cruise or whether you have spent 6 months on board. Needless to say this was another 40 mins and a complete joke to be called priority. Disembarkation It took over 2 hours to get off the ship and through customs. It was like nothing I have ever experienced before. It was chaos and I can honestly say they should not cruise out of LA if they don't have the capacity to get everyone off the ship in a decent time. Loads of people missed their flights due to this. Once on board the ship itself was beautiful but it was just so overcrowded. Unless you book all your restaurants in advance you will be eating at 10pm or 5pm. Cabin I had a studio cabin and was horrified to see the bed had shrunk by half on this ship. It did give a bit more space but when a cabin is this small bed size doesn't really make much difference. As usual upon arrival both of my pillows smelt badly of man sweat so I needed two fresh pillows which Norwegian just don't seem to have.So it was a week of sleeping on sunken in sweat pillows that stank. My cabin steward cleaned my cabin whenever she felt like it rather than every day. My bin wasn't emptied on a daily basis and the cleaning was really half hearted. Dining As always the food in the main dining rooms were lukewrm at best. This is a theme throughout NCL and something they just cannot get a grip on. There were plenty of specialty dining options but I noticed that all of them apart from Teppanyaki are now a la carte so gone are the days of having more than one starter. And Teppanyaki is now up to $39. The food in Teppanyaki is definitely the best and the only one where you might get value for money. Le Bistro was disappointing (overcooked meat and chewy) as was Ocean Blue (tasteless lobster). Los Lobos wasn't anything special and La Cucina is bog standard Italian fare which isn't worth paying extra for. I didn't go to Cagneys on this ship but I have been before and after being served a cold steak I have never returned. The buffet is just low quality food as is the food in the Observation lounge. Entertainment Low grade shows not even worth sitting until the end of. The main show was SIx which was basically 6 women singing stories about being the wives of Henry VIII. No substance and nothing special. The singers weren't that great either. The Beatles was just boring. There were no shows that displayed skill, talent, dancing, acrobatics, just boring singing. The comedian was okay but again nothing special. There were the same old game shows Not So Newlywed and Deal or No Deal. There was a new one called the Wheel of Ill Will but it wasn't that great. Service The staff generally seemed quite miserable apart from Carla and Nestor in the Sugarcane Bar who were always smiling and upbeat. I accidentally booked my airport transfer twice once at home in the Uk and once on board. At no time did Guest Services say to me 'oh you have already booked a transfer' and when I took it up with NCL at home they refused to credit my card and offered me onboard credit.Which I refused. I am yet to see if they will credit my card. Ports & Shore Excursions Mazatlan - I got left behind by the NCL tour operator and had to find my own way back to the ship. Went on the Stone Island trip $89. You go on a catamaran across to the island (peninsula) and then you get in a cart to a restaurant overlooking the beach. You can go on the beach but the tour guides tell you that you will be bothered by sellers. I sat in the restaurant and was bothered by sellers in there every two minutes so I couldn't imagine how much worse it would be on the beach. I met a lady travelling solo and spent the excursion talking with her. We asked the tour guide Delize if we could join the 3.15pm group instead of going back with her at 2.15pm and she said that would be no problem and she would add us to Erika's group. She came back and said it was all done and that we would be leaving at 3.15pm with Erika. At 2.51pm I noticed everyone had gone. I asked a waiter at the restaurant and he said yeah they left about 10 mins ago. I panicked and spoke with the restaurant manager called Jorge who was frantically trying to call Erika who wasn't answering. In the end we had no choice but to get in this random guys truck and be taken to the pier, which was pretty scary when you are alone in Mexico in a place that has a travel advisory for US citizens not to travel. When we got to the pier the catamaran had already left so the guy was whistling for them to come back. They eventually turned around and came back but it was the scariest experience of my life. The tour operator didn't even say anything when I got on the catamaran and the lady I had met on the excursion who also got left behind asked her when did she realise she had left two passengers behind. She said they left over half an hour earlier to sail to see the rockface at the entrance to the port and blamed it all on Delize. When I got onboard we reported it to guest services. After 24 hours I hadn't heard anything so went to see guest services again. Another 24 hours passed and I contacted the lady who was also left behind and she said Shorex had called her the day before offering her 50% of all her excursions back and I was annoyed because I hadn't had any contact from NCL at all. She said she had an appt to see the assistant general manager Dieter Welp at 6pm and could I join her. I was just horrified that nobody had bothered to contact me about what had happened at all. We met with Dieter and it resulted in nothing more than a refund of the excursion which was paltry considering what had happened. I took it up with NCL when I got home and they didn't want to know. Would not listen to me or bother to contact Dieter Welp to confirm what happened just basically called me a liar and said it was all my fault and begrudgingly offered me a dining package on my next cruise (which you get included with free at sea anyway). As if I am ever going to want to cruise with NCL after this huge failure. I am a Platinum member and have always been a loyal customer of NCL but to leave two passengers stranded and then not even take accountability for it is shocking. If you can't be safe on an excursion with NCL then that's not a cruise line I want to travel with. Puerto Vallarta - did the Marietas Islands Eco Tour with Vallarta Adventures via NCL and wasn't that impressed. We spent 90 mins on a catamaran sailing to the islands. When we arrived we were taken snorkelling as we were not allowed on the islands. The fish there were not that impressive and the water was cloudy so you couldn't really see much. There was the option for paddle boarding and kayaking but there wasn't really enough time. We then were taken around a few rocks sticking out of the water to be shown the birds and then we headed back to the port. We did stop once more to snorkel but there were three dead eels floating in the water which didn't make it very tempting to jump in.Again we were not allowed on the beach. Cabo San Lucas - I did the Exclusive Beach Resort at Me Cabo Melia hotel which was beautiful. Not very far from the port and very luxurious. Only had 2 hrs 45 mins there despite our excursion being advertised as 4 hours. The food was included as was one drink. The main advantage of coming here was for the free Wifi. The food you chose off the menu and I had the fish tacos which were really good. This was my last cruise with NCL after 12 cruises in 3 years with them as I am so disgusted by their attitude and behaviour. From now on it's Celebrity all the way as the level of service and the all round quality is far superior. You should be very careful travelling with them as once you are off that boat they do not care about you at all. Their own member of staff was murdered in Roatan and all they did was cancel the cruises for a week there. I think that speaks volumes about them as a company. Read Less

We cruise once or twice a year usually on Princess or Carnival, the reason we decided to go on Norwegian is because we wanted to try out a new ship and since Bliss is a brand new ship it made our decision very easy. Embarkation: We were traveling with two children 3 and 11 months so we had a stroller. Bliss only has 16 elevators on average about 10 elevators less then any other ship we've been on with less passengers so to get on and off the ship or between the floors every-time took very long time and was very frustrating. Dining: The garden buffet had a good selection but several times we've encountered food to be under cooked. Dining rooms took forever to get your food (we were a party of 9) but still it should take hours to eat. Special dining were the worst, not only it took forever to get your food but we got food poisoning TWICE in two separate restaurants (not just couple of us but the entire party). When my kid was trowing up the next morning the manager approached us took our information but nothing came of it. Service: Through out our years of cruising the service on Bliss was horrible. Not sure if crew is overworked or there is something else going on but they were rude, unresponsive and service was just slow. It is like you were asking them for a favor every-time. On-board Experience: EVERYTHING IS EXTRA on the ship, I was surprised that the water slides were free since they were charging for everything, also if you wanted to go to some shows or restaurant you had to reserve ahead of time. The first day we got on the boat everything was already reserved and we had to get on a waiting list for most of the activities. Also there is not that much open/roaming areas on the ship, it seems that they tried to put as many state rooms on the ship as possible. Cabin: Was ok, smaller then on other ships, had a nice size bathroom but i wish the closet was designed different. It was right next to the couch and getting to it was tough. Read Less

This wasn’t our first cruise experience, but will for sure become the last on Carnival Imagination. The stinkiest ship ever. The nauseating blend of urine, bleach, old furniture, filthy carpets was so horrendous that I had to hold my breath when we first stepped on board. I should have left right then. We stayed on deck 7, right by the guest services. The room and bathroom were so stinky that I poured half a bottle of my perfume just to tolerate it. The filth and dirt are everywhere. The dirty baseboards, the stains on the carpets, dust and dirt in the buffet area was so bad that I would rather skip a meal that experience it. We were traveling with a toddler and it was a challenge for me to let him run freely - he would pick up trash, dirt, dust. In addition, in 4 days they didn’t change our bed a single time. We were provided with pillowcases with stains and I noticed them again on the last day packing. I felt so sorry for the crew and staff members who work on this ship. They are doing their best to provide great customer service. Benjamin and Jacki are always fun and cheerful. Kuddos to them! The choice of food in the buffet was very limited and mostly unhealthy. The dining menu was rather simple; there was not a single meal that I would say was exceptional. It was ok, mediocre, average. In fact, on the last day of cruising I got a severe food poisoning from a burrito that I had for lunch from the buffet. I spent all night vomiting and was so happy that this “vacation” was over. Never again I would go on Imagination. This ship should go for a full renovation because it is unacceptable for a company to treat their clients with such accommodation. Read Less

As an experienced travel agent I had not sailed with Carnival since 1989. We decided to try again, much to our dismay. There was nothing except the steak house to commend this cruise. The dining service was in some cases energetic but without adequate training poorly provided. The food was of poor quality. The music sources all had bass turned up so much above the rest of the music that all one could here was THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. The thumping was often heard a full deck beyond the source. Every venue was very cold, 67 degrees by actual measurement. The late evening entertainment provided by stand up comedians was ok but for the gratuitous foul language forced into the acts. There were as expected many children and teenagers. Unfortunately, many were using the corridors as a raceway throughout the day and into the late night. Loud conversations were often conducted up and down the halls without regard to time of day or night and thus often making sleeping difficult. The steak provided the only positive of the cruise. good food, well prepared and served pleasantly. Read Less

All activities on the ship required reservations that you needed to make prior to the cruise which we never were made aware of. The employees were miserable and had the worst customer service skills. The kids splash academy was full and couldnt take anymore kids as it was a first come first serve basis. Everything costed extra, only food was included. Shows, go carts , arcade and many more things were all extra but they were all full. This ship was beautiful but the experience and sercice was horrible. I will never go on another Norwegian cruise. The pool had little to no entertainment and it was packed with only one pool for families to use. I would highly recommend a Royal Caribbean cruise over this one anyday. To top the cruise off my 10 year had access to charge to his room 1500. On the arcade and the cruise line never flagged the account or notified us .When i found out about charges there corporate office in Miami argued with me stating it was my responsibility to pay the amount. Please safe yourself the headache and disappointment do not go on this ship!!! Read Less

My wife and my two children (ages 8 and 4) came on this cruise as an extension of a California Disney vacation. We were looking forward to a relaxing spring break family vacation, and certainly expected a similar experience to our prior 6 cruise experiences with other companies. You will be extremely disappointed. This is not a family cruise. Staff is largely ignorant of any cruise activity or procedure, the children activity center is opened odd limited hours, which in turn limits your own ability to book any adult time. The ship is crowded and ill-designed — be ready to wait long lines at any eatery or elevator — the food of poor quality unless you are paying for it. Cabin is smaller than Disney but ok. Very disappointed with our experience and especially for the kids. I will not travel in this boat again. I wish I had read more of the other reviews before I booked it. Read Less

Took a Mexican cruise on Royal, was my 4th cruise on Princess...all I can say is OUCH! It has been 12 years since I have been on a cruise.....I LOVED (PAST TENSE) Princess until now....I am used to the smaller ships, 2600 passengers, as if that is small....but Princess really messed up the line...You cant add 1000 more passengers, ditch one pool and revamp the menu so it is like a high end buffet, and I am not talking about the Horizon cafe....I am talking main dinning room...we were told that there was a new head chef for the ship, even the employees were complaining on how bad the food was....1 less pool and 1000 more people means, you aint getting into one....PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, NO PLACE TO GO. HAD WHAT WAS AN OWNERS SUITE, WAS GREAT, BUT THAT WAS IT. The ship was busy all the time, everywhere you went... NO place to just chill without People everywhere....movies under the stars great idea except for one problem...no aft pool so PEOPLE ALWAYS THERE,, NO WAY YOU ARE GETTING INTO THE POOL...Sanctuary pool also BUSY ALL THE TIME and at night kids in the pool as well. .so many people that there are not enough elevators to get around, always always always waiting for an elevator.....and when you are in the elevators, guess what, no air conditioning in them so you are sweltering as you hit EVERY SINGLE FLOOR. As far as food the only place that the food was good was the international cafe off the Piazza. As a suite passenger in the past with Princess, we were treated like royalty..not anymore...the few perks that are offered to the suite passenger does not make up for the lack of service, did not feel any more special then the avg joe who payed ALOT less then I did....Service in the suites only area of the restaurant sucked...had to move to a different area to get mediocre service at best...THE table side special food prep, was not done table side and it was the same every night of the cruise, was pasta with a very bitter tomato sauce.....Head waiter was an a-hole to say the least......even the specialty restaurants were mediocre......there was nothing special about the food, bad in most cases.....heard After was on ROYAL by a few different travel agents that ROYAL has a very bad reputation for most of the things I am complaining about....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on ROYAL, heck at this point don't waste your money on Princess.....spend the extra money and go on a true luxury cruise line. BIGGER IS NOT BETTER, no way no how! I know some of you haters are going to say some crap to me about something, so I will add this.... I had a hip replacement 2 months earlier and taking the steps was not an option.....and for the haters....go ahead..sling your best shot...I know you are all out there. I had multiple surgeries over the years, hence the reason I had waited 12 years for the trip....I deserved the suite...again haters be very careful on what you say, I have no problem coming back at you. Norwegian Cruise On The Bliss. If you are thinking of booking a cruise with Norwegian on the Bliss here are some important things that will enlighten you and maybe help narrow your decision between cruise lines. I really wish some of this info was available before we booked for 6 people. 2 ocean side rooms, 2 kids 4 adults with my Father in-law being disabled and needing a wheelchair. Our trip started off on a very bumpy start with a 3 hour boarding process at long beach. Ugh.. We notified NCL that we needed assistance to 1 in our group but they informed us no wheelchairs available at that time so they had about 7 disabled people stuck sitting on a bench outside the terminal in the sun for over an hour. No water offered to them or another area to sit in the shade. Was so bad! My father in-law was a total trooper and said I’ll stand in line cause he didn’t want to take a chair away from anyone else. We made him stay put. Finally NCL sent over an assitant and brought everyone inside but told all the family’s they would have to separate everyone except one family member, (just dumb).. Had no idea if we would be able to see them again with the 1,000 plus people in line till we boarded. As we got into the main check-in after waiting in line for a hour plus they then made you take a number to wait in another line.. What rocket science figured this one out??? So now another hour plus line after your number was called. Complete disconnect!! We were hoping that Dad wasn’t having to deal with this madness but well he was as I looked across and saw him in a line of 5 trying to get though the special assist line. He literally was in a line of 5 for more then an hour.. Just crazy.. It took 1 hour to process 5. Recap, NCL separated our complete family and made him wait in another line for well over a hour after sitting in the hot sun for over a hour.. NCL really knows how to treat disabled people! I’ve never seen anything like it.. This is America not a third world country.. We are blown away with this. Wait it gets better. Once finally getting to our state rooms we asked about getting a wheel chair. Figured we would have no problem.. Ha.. Nope. “Sorry sir, we are out of wheelchairs but maybe you could head down to Guest Services and ask them.” So I went down and low and behold another line 30 deep. Just keeps getting better. I picked up the lobby phone and called to see what options we had. Amazing that we were able to get ahold of a NCL member. They confirmed that no wheelchairs were available but if we wanted to go anywhere just call and a NCL member will pickup and drop off. Well we tried that a few times and it was a bust. 20 to 30 min pickup time and once you are at your destination that they take the wheelchair so now you have to call and request a pickup. This clearly wasn’t going to work. We attempted another try to find a wheelchair and they found one. That was a relief until we were given the bill for 195 bucks and the challenge of trying to maneuver through the hallways with all the service carts in the way. Clearly NCL is not taking Handicap or Disabled guests as a priority. The Bliss is not setup to truly make it easy to get around with small hallways, no center elevator and crew not trained. We just found out about disembarking is going to be the same issue. No priority. Another fun fact in the wisdom who’s ever in charge of getting luggage off you need to have your luggage outside your cabinet by 11:00 PM the night before so if you need to get ready the next morning you’ve better have what you need. Great so with all the extra stuff your Dad needs like meds and other crucial things we need to find a place other then his bags that need to be taken beforehand.. We already have a bunch of luggage to content with so it just make more things to desk with. NCL is very safety conscience so little surprised they are having all the guest clog in the hallways with bags. If there is an emergency no way we would be able to pass all the bags with a wheel chair. Makes no sense! The ship is beautiful and their newest in NCL fleet but be prepared to be nickel and dimed to death.. We paid for everything in advance including 6 nights of fine dining so wanted everything included but we were so wrong! They kill you with the WiFi for 300 for a week per guest. And if you want to keep in touch with your family and kids they have a basic NCL connection that will run you about 10 per person so you can text from phone to phone while on the ship after downloading the NCL app. Should be free! You also get charged 15 dollars per day per guest and if you want soda for the kids or adults that package is another 50. Oh and no free bottled water! Race track and Laser tag cost and if you don’t signup the minute you get on the boat forget it. Books up in super quick. Another bummer. Be careful about room selection. We booked directly with NCL thinking that they would know the ship better then anyone else. Wrong! I got talked into center upper deck for the following reasons; - less movement for bad weather - restaurant access Well not having a center elevator is a big issue with wheel chair and almost every night on the main pool deck there was a party with the music playing full blast. Both rooms vibrated until 12 almost every night. We didn’t sleep for 4 of the 6 nights on the ship. I’m for everyone partying but I want to be able to retreat to a quiet place to sleep. So basically center ship DO NOT STAY on deck 12,13,14 or 15 unless you don’t want to be sleep. I did complain a few times and finally got some help with the DJ bringing down the level days later. It was crazy that they would turn the sound all the way up with only 75 guest on the deck that can hold 1,500 plus. Doesn’t make sense. In all fairness they would have moved us but the ship was completely booked. Also tough when you have assigned cabinets next to each other. Dinning experience was mixed feelings. Our favorite was; - Ocean blue - Cagney’s - The Local - Le Bistro - Savor - Taste - La Cucina Ocean blue and Le Bistro were epic! Worse food and service - Los Lobos 2 hours to eat with reservation and food order came back wrong 3 times on two different items. My kids finally gave up and just didn’t eat dinner. Then the manager tried to compensate for our bad experience by not charging for the side of beans and flour tortillas. I pretty much said please charge me and walked out. Bad with a side of more bad. Food was also terrible. Kids left and went to the Garden Cafe buffet to try to eat some dinner. Entertainment: Good luck getting into any of the shows if not booked the minute you get on board. We paid for the only show we could get into which was Havana (and was a 10:00 evening showing) but with our dinner running late at Cagneys we missed it. And yes we got charged anyway.. Another challenge is getting a hold of someone of Guest Services without going to the counter. I’ve must of called at least 20 times within the 4 days and only was able to touch base over the phone 5 of the 20. Best time to go physically is before 7 or after 9:00 if you don’t want to wait in line. The only person who has been helpful really is the General Manager Belkys Sanchez. She has helped with the noise the best she can. All and all is has been an experience with more lows than highs for our first experience with NCL. Sincerely the Barbera’s Read Less

Affordable worth it price. I miss the tropical beach weather so we decided to do the 7 day cruise in mexico. A day in every port wasn't enough! There's so much things to do. During sea day we were able to do a lot of stuff although I must say there's isn't much for couples. Sea day would be so much if we're traveling with family or friends. Only elegant dinner, spa and pool lounge was enjoyable for a romantic gateaway in the ship. Everything was fine until we're on our way back to los angeles (long beach) port. The ship's direction was against the waves so imagine how rocky it may have been. It was the worst for me. It felt like I was drunk the whole time. Especially at night we could hear like heavy metal dropping and while rocking heavily. It was the worst. There's 3 days left in ship before we arrive home port so those days were my only complaint. To think i have meds with me too. I just think it would have been a nice vacay without the dizziness. Lol. But overall it was ok and fun. Another thing i would suggest to get a cabin 6th or higher floor and in the middle to avoid being dizzy all the time or just so you won't feel everything moving esp with kids! The highlight was the last night too when they had a big party with everyone and it was so much fun. Be prepared to gain so much weight bec food was very reasonable and tasty for me. Read Less

They sent as a coupon. 1) My husband booked me a 2 hours spa treatment. I was taken in late for my treatment, while i did the seaweed wrap the therapist left the room , and never bothered to come check on me, and ask how i was doing. The massage was probably the worst massage i have ever had. Once the treatment was done, she was trying to sell me $ 350+ worth of products, and trying to talk me into purchasing additional treatments, by pointing out my skin is sagging, my eyes are puffy etc.....very intelligent:) They put a bottle of water in your room, but there was no label or warning that they were going to charge you $ 5.75 for it! When we got the final bill they raised the daily mandatory tips at $ 14.50/person. The food in the buffet was same every single day, without a fail. As far as entertainment, not much , there was only one show worth the time in the whole week. In the day time , the ship was like a dormant boring place, unless you had plenty of cash to spare you would keep yourself entertained because all they did , tried to sell you anything. The library had no books, other than speciality travel books and such. To conclude, I think I am pretty much done cruising. Read Less

This was a family cruise with my elderly in laws. From the moment we boarded things were broken. Elevators were being repaired the whole 10 days, toilets were not flushing the air conditioner blowers were broken there were leaks and they were drying out carpets, varnishing railings on deck 7 making it impossible to actually hold onto railings. We saw a ceiling tile fall on a patrons head during our last day at sea. One particular day at sea we were at the horizon court and they refused to serve my father in law juice because it was past breakfast and they wanted to charge him. We have been on many cruises but over the last 6 years we have been sticking with princess cruises. We will NO LONGER cruise with princess after our last cruise and cancelled our next cruise with princess. This ship had just gotten out of dry dock and we watched them work on pipes over the eating area outside of the Horizon buffet and the pool deck, it was disgusting ! Floors wet with sewage on decks with rooms, plumbing in rooms that did not work, cold showers and smells, fans in hallways 24/7. Some people had to be sent to an unused room to shower. Marijuana smells that went right into our grandsons room every day all day. Head room steward ignored the problem even tho he knew where the pot smell was coming from. Many guest complained, at least 10 rooms complained about the same group of guest smoking on their balcony every single day, nobody did anything. Room service was terrible if they showed up at all. Order food at 5;00pm and it came at midnight after guest services called them 3 times. Excursions poorly planned and ship held up for hours waiting for guests to come back to ship. Over charged many times and made 4-5 trips to guest services to fix the financial issues that princess could not keep straight. This was by far the worst cruise we have ever been on and to pay that much for a vacation and be that disappointed is not right. We will NEVER sail with princess again, especially because our complaints and concerns went unresolved and ignored like we were nothing. If Princess cannot appreciate its guest we will not longer consider them a vacation option. Read Less
