As we embarked here we stayed in Rostock overnight then took the train in Warnemunde. After getting settled in we wandered around Warnemunde and enjoyed the beautiful town. Great for just walking and enjoying the sights.

We docked miles from the town at an industrial dock. (Other large ships were berthed in the centre of Warnemunde. We objected to the high fare for a shuttle ride by Celebrity so joined with others on the dock for a taxi to Warnemunde. A lovely charming town. We decided to visit the IGA Park and the Ship Museum which was highlighted in our guidebook. Built for an International Flower Festival in 2003 the photos looked wonderful. "The hop-on-hop-off bus stops here". We took a local train (what a contrast to British ones - clean uncrowded and punctual). But we found a huge expanse of abandoned weed strewn concrete without a bus or taxi in sight. The park did exist but was deserted and overgrown. We decided not to look for the museum! Luckily we eventually found a local lady who phoned for a taxi to take us back to the ship. Maybe we should have taken the shuttle...... Read Less

We made our own way by train to Rostock, and then on to Bad Doberan to ride the Molli steam train to Kühlungsborn Ost and visit the seaside. It was fairly easy to do by public transport, and lovely to see some countryside instead of just cities. At the station at Warnemunde go into the ticket office to buy tickets for the return trip to Bad Doberan, then the Molli shares the same train station so. Read Less

Travelled by shuttle bus, no charge. Nice old town but I suspect rebuilt after WW2. No real need for a tour here, just wander, shop and have a beer.

The dock is actually in Warnemunde which is A very nice town with an exceptional beach well worth a visit. BERLIN is three hours travelling meaning you loose six hours sitting on a bus round trip what a waste of time

Viking handled the excurions into Germany very well. We boarded a train, sat grouped by excursion and easily got on and off. Our guide was excellent.

We just walked into town (note, when leaving ship, head right!). Nice little town, easy to walk to and around. Not a lot to do though.

Super cute town and walking distance from the ship. Unfortunately, it was a holiday for them and most shops/restaurants were closed. Due to its size, we didn't want to spend the money for an excursion but we enjoyed our time in town.

We booked a private full day tour through a local tour company. Since we had previously visited Berlin for 5 days we didn't want to spend the time it took to get there from Warnemunde. So glad we explored the area. We had a great day!

Pretty little fishing town. Nice and clean and superb beaches. Most places were closed as it was a bank holiday the day we visited but a pleasant little port.
