We chose this Cruise Trip to North Europe, as this covers four stops in Western Norway, besides Copenhagen and Goteburg in Sweden. This was our second trip on Costa Ship. Very happy with their Itinerary, since main attraction was to visit Norwegian Fjords. Vast variety of food and comparatively far better Entertainment compared to others. Overall a great experience and Value for money. One suggestion for those Taking this Cruise at Warnemunde Germany. Warnemunde is nearly 2 to 4 hours by Train or Coach from Hamburg or Berlin. For individual/ group travelers, who not taking direct Private Taxi/ Car from Hamburg or Berlin to Cruise centre, the better way is to Embark on this Cruise at Copenhagen. This will avoid all the hassles of getting to Warnemunde from Hamburg or Berlin One suggestion for Costa: Being an Italian liner, there should be some free Pizza and Ice cream stations. They have Shore Excursions for different language groups. At Norway ports, private excursions to Fjords are available at cheaper prices. Read Less

Where to start? we have travelled for years both ocean and river cruising, and never on a mega-ship before! To begin with, if you like your sleep! forget it! this modern ship has cabin doors which are of the automatic slam shut ! variety, consequently 24/7 doors are being slammed the length of the vast corridors, and no one thought to hang on to the handles as the doors closed, why 24/7? because of discos and casinos there was always something going on. As for the dining! being of a free style variety! you either joined the chaos of top deck diners, with all of its constant noise, and shoving to get food and find a table, or you joined a few free restaurants which in the evenings were so popular (no surprise!) that you then had to queue before a table became free. Obviously you could choose to pay extra and dine elsewhere. With most busy ships numbers of passengers can disappear with many activities but with 4,000 passengers and approx. 1500 crew there was no where to escape to apart from the llibrary and the smokers room!! A word of warning, if using the main theatre which is canted so everyone gets a good view, however near the top of the stairs two short steps follow each other so that the number of people stumbling and even falling, occurred each night we were there, one night an elderly gentleman stumbled down them and went crashing into a seat back, did anyone care? Needless to say a stop in Stockholm was cancelled because of bad weather (this is quite often the case as its a floating dock!), so we had to spend two days of a short 10 day break going slow to waste time. If we missed the stop why could we not have made it a day earlier to Copenhagen as compensation, as it was for the two days the decks were roped off! so had to stay inside, and as many ended up with the ships cough! at $250 dollars for a brief visit with the ships GP and a few antibiotic tablets. This was a special cruise for us as it was our first cruise and we were looking forward to sailing at night so that we could spend each day exploring a new country. In fact we only stopped at 2 of the 5 ports. We had no information prior to joining in Copenhagen that we would be there for 2 days (we would have arranged to arrive on the ship later and conduct a tour of Copenhagen), although those joining in Germany had been told to embark at Copenhagen. We missed Germany, Sweden and Finland and spent an extra day in Estonia. What a waste of time. The ferries were running from Tallinn to Helsinki, but the modern, high tech, stabilised Norwegian Breakaway could not sail the short distance. At a Q&A session with the Captain and Hotel Manager over 500 people voiced how angry they were that NCL had ruined the cruise offered nothing to compensate i.e. no free movies or internet or dining options. The entertainment stagnated and certainly the Flyboys had come prepared to offer a different show from the one already seen by everyone, but were never asked to do so. The inside cabin was clean, roomy and well designed. The food was good but the buffet was absolutely packed and like a cattle market. The junior staff were generally helpful, but the more senior they were, the more evasive they became. We were told by the Captain that the decision not to visit the other ports was made by NCL Head office in Miami and went to the President of NCL for the final decision. Did they apologise, offer any sort of compensation or do anything to try and compensate for all the disappointment. Nothing but excuses and poor entertainment at sea. Read Less

The ship was suppose to go to places I wanted to see, but three ports were cancelled and we stayed on the ship extra days. We were suppose to go to five ports but only went to two, Estonia and Russia. Port calls in Germany, Finland and Sweden were cancelled. Bad weather was cited for the reason but there had to be other reasons since we bypassed Helsinki even thought the storms had passed days earlier. The shipboard entertainment was so-so. It was mostly solo acts, such as a single singer, violinist etc. My wife and I left some shows early since they were boring. I knew in advance beer ($8.30 a bottle) and soft drinks ($5.00) would be expensive so it was not a surprise. I just didn't drink as much as I would have liked. Still the food was great, the cabins were great, the service was great and we had a very good time but regret not seeing what we paid for. For old people, such as my wife and I, it was a relaxing vacation. Read Less

We chose this cruise as a first time visit to the British Isles. We have sailed with Princess in the past and have not be disappointed. This sailing was a sold out ship so it was very crowded onboard but Princess handled everything very well. Our only disappointment was boarding the ship in London/Southampton. Very disorganized from arriving at the airport to boarding the ship. After we boarded the ship everything else went smoothly. I think there should have been more enrichment activities offered. Some of out shore excursion were too rushed and the tour guides could have been a little more knowledgeable, but over all we were not disappointed. Entertainment was great as usual. Food was very good. Our cabin was roomy and well appointed. Disembarking the ship went smoothly and our extra days in London in one of their recommended hotels after the cruise was very nice. Great first time visit to Britain. We did not have any children in our group but we saw many families with children traveling together. Definitely will cruise with Princess again. We have 2 more cruised booked with them! Read Less

We chose this cruise to see the Baltic. We added a few days in Germany after the cruise to pursue seeing my Husband's Grandfather's homeland of Germany. We highly recommend this tour and cruise line. It was great getting on in Germany versus Copenhagen. I think the check in was easier, and we had a day to relax while other's were touring. One down size was the excursions. There was too little time for bathroom and shopping breaks. Russia's 2 day excursion about killed us in it's pace. I think maybe next time I would do the on-off bus excursions. We did this in Berlin. It allows more personal time, and the audio purchased at the palace was great explaining everything. In defense of the excursions; they are safer than going on your own, and the limited time in port does sometimes warrant a full schedule. All of our guides were great. All accommodations, entertainment, and staff on the ship were great. Time spent in the spa was heavenly. Meals in the general areas were delicious. We went to three specialty restaurants: Cagney's Steak House; Le Bistro's French Restaurant; and La Cochina's Italian Restaurant were superb. Everyone be prepared to spend two hours for dinner in any of these restaurants. I highly recommend 5:30 pm reservations, so as to walk some of the food off and to avoid missing any 7:30 entertainment. I noticed most of the fellow cruisers booked these later in the evening, though. On a night we decided to miss the 7:30 entertainment we did book a later time, which did work out (this dinner was no later than 7 pm). The Breakfast Buffet on deck 15 is great prior to your shore excursions. It is quick, while providing excellent food and service. An inside cabin worked wonderful for us. We had comfort, and our cabin was in the most convenient part of the ship (Port Side Mid-Ship) room 5161. We can't wait to book another cruise. We had a great time. We loved our ship and the places we visited. Kudo's to everyone on staff on the Getaway! Read Less

The ship is very nice. The pools are OK. The team - excellent. No real shows at night. the food is very very bad. the lowest of the lowest quality of ingredients - for instance: the was only rice Pilaf and they try to convince us that the RIZZOTO is good. the Chops are only with fat, almost no meat. Also this is a Baltic cruise - they do not serve SALMON !!! the staff is ordered to cheat. I asked for Non paper Salami, the guy looked at the refrigerator below him and said: there is no more left. After I argued loudly, a manager came and told him to put in on the buffet. The guy, that few seconds before, pretended to look for it and said: no more left, simply pulled it out and gave it to me, without even blushing. I assume that this THE policy. and it happened again another day. They Charge a lot for the WIFI - but you hardly get a connection. They urge NOT to leave tip to the staff that you meet, and they collect AUTOMATICALLY 10 Euro per day per person for this purpose - BUT - do not tell you that this is optional and you can ask not to deduct, and from randomly asking staff people if they get TIPS from Management - all of them said NO. which means that the money went to others. I have many more examples. my recommendation - skip MSC. try others - they are much better (from Experience) Read Less

We chose this cruise due the fact we wished to see Baltic cities we had never visited before. The issues that I wish to address are far too many to enumerate so I will attempt to limit my review to those concerns which prompted us to provide a negative review. CABIN. Our cabin, although comfortable and as described, exhibited several sanitary and material deficiencies. The toilet (near the base and aft corner) had a standing accumulation of "waste water” (color and scent of urine). Our attendant was quick to resolve the issue by sanitizing and absorbing the standing fluids. Although I attempted to reassure my wife that this was an oversight due to short turn-around times in port, the waste water once again began to accumulate around the base of the toilet. I contacted Customer Service (in person) and was told that the problem would be resolved shortly. We were visited by "technicians" to evaluate the problem, however, after assessing the leaks (staring at it for two minutes) indicated that "if it happens again, let us know!" The problem was never resolved throughout the cruise and required continuous attention by our cabin attendant (who was of tremendous help yet unable to correct material deficiencies). We requested (and were denied) another cabin or like accommodations. The ship's captain sent us a bottle of champagne with chocolates regretting this inconvenience (which we later gave to our attendant) but there were no further attempts to mitigate the problem. (I have attached a photo of the "waste" water in our bathroom). Material Conditions (excessive wear) and cleanliness were significant issues. The cabinetry, drawers, dressers, tables, and sofa exhibited extensive areas of distress due to wear and age (photo provided). Some of the drawers (per photo) were so soiled and dirty that chose to leave part of our clothing in our suitcases rather than store it in the drawers. DINING. The quality and service fell short of our expectations. We considered the entrees to be mediocre and were very limited in variety. It's the small things, e.g., three salt shakers before one that is not clogged due to moisture. A few grains of rice would have resolved this issue. Waiters and staff were unable to communicate adequately in English, German or Spanish. It was a challenging scenario in attempting to fulfill our wishes for meals. ENTERTAINMENT. We consider the entertainment to be sub-par compared to other cruises in which we have taken passage. SERVICE was "par excellence"! Our cabin attendants (in particular) were totally responsive and most considerate in meeting our needs. We were well at ease in rewarding them directly for their sterling service. If there was a specific problem area with service on-board it was that we chose a cruise with 3,800 passengers and no matter how many the staff, they were overwhelmed by the demands placed on them. (Lesson learned: our next cruise will be limited to a carrier with passenger of Read Less

We enjoyed the most our cabin with balcony. On the beginning it is difficult to orientate, but finally we found everything rather quick. The food is ok in the restaurants, but is a little stressy. You see the personnel running all the time and therefore you are not relaxed by that. The wine is good and price is correct if there is not always 15 % of service at each time. But the beverages Packages are too expensive if you are not a big drinker. And don’t forget: All exclusive is not full pension. The captain’s diner is just an extra glass and a dessert and more stress for the personnel We enjoyed our stay, but as we did not need the entertainments a cruise is not really our thing, for most of the people it must be fine to have swimming possibility, casino, shows etc. The excursions are not always good organised, but still they are interesting to do. And at every port it is possible to see or do something special if you like. We had a calm sea so it was absolutely beautiful and fantastic to be on board. Read Less

I wanted to see some of the Scandinavian countries, The cruise itself was excellent. I did have a major problem that was NOT of Princesses making. I was to board the ship in St Petersburg. The day I was to board I was robbed - my passport, money, credit cards . I was able to het a new passport from the Embassy - it took about 2 hours. I had a friend with money and credit cards so I was not stuck. Princess was a tremendous help with all my problems. My phone did not work on the ship. They allowed me to call all my credit card companies to cancel them,, call home, enabled me to get cash from home. I also could not return to Russia as my visa went along with my passport and there was no time to get a new one. They were able to get me a new ticket from 1 port before my planned debarkation in St Petersburg. It was a reasonable price for a last minute ticket. I cannot say enough about their helpfulness. They were never impatient - I was very upset about the whole incident. It is great to know that when an emergency arises they will work with you to get everything done. THANK YOU PRINCESS!!!!!!!!! Wanting to explore the countries in the Baltic Sea we selected Regal Princess on the size and age of the ship and were not disappointed. The service and presentation of the staff are outstanding, they are always very professional in all interactions with passengers. We had only come off a Royal Carribbean cruise Sydney to Singapore 4 days prior to our Regal Princess cruise and were very disappointed with the Voyager of the Seas experience given we had been on 5 previous Royal Carribbean cruises over the past 10 years. The mini suite though smaller than the Voyager of the Seas suite was very comfortable and the outlook via the balcony was wonderful as we cruised the Baltic Seas. The entertainment was not as good as we have previously experienced and suggest you are seated at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the show as there are a number of seats on the sides of theatre which only provide a partial view of the stage. The only port which was walkable distance to the town centre was Oslo, there were shuttles provided however at a cost. Be careful the shore tours did not appear to leave on the times specified. It would appear Princess line do not enforce passengers to sanitise their hands prior to entering any restaurants. Until they appoint a crew member supervising passengers with this procedure the cruiseline places itself at a higher risk of gastro outbreaks. Read Less
