This review is positive. I mention that because negative reviewers tend to nit-pick on air a laundry-list of minor annoyances. This time, I choose to ignore the minor things. I also will not compare this cruise to the many others I have taken. I went on this cruise to have fun. I went with a small group of 6 people. We intended to eat and dance and enjoy the ship. We have been on the Spirit before. The cruise was fabulous because of people... the people we were with, the ship's staff, and the people we met both on and off the ship.
The food was superb, as was the service, and the dining staff and other cruisers. The music and singers and shows was outstanding. We struggled to figure out which groups to visit so we could dance (ballroom). No, they did not specifically play ballroom-type music, our group simply adapted to the music and songs being played. We had never been to the Western Caribbean before and the destinations were enjoyable as we did three excursions... two from the ship and one on our own. But, as we have learned, it's not about destinations. Cruising fun, enjoyment and excitement is all about the ship's environment and the people you are with and the people you meet and enjoy. We have about a dozen or so cruises under our belt and they are fun because of the people we cruise with.
Advice? Cruise with people you enjoy being with OR, be the kind of people others enjoy being around (this has proven true time and time again). Failing that "requirement", you risk having a fun time. For this cruise, we put a "tick mark" on "fun and successful". Outstanding were the singing groups from the Philippines... wish we could take them home with us!
We mostly cruise using inside cabins because they are only for sleeping. We would like more space, which we got on this cruise since we were assigned one on the 11th floor. It was oriented Aft to rear and was roomy.
