arrived in san diego from australia stayed overnight at the doubletree hotel very comfortable but next time will stay at the holiday inn at the port for convenience.embarkation was well organised and quick. went to the mariners lunch which was excellent but also found out it was open to everyone including first time cruisers so why bother saying it is a special lunch for repeat travellers.cabin was very good and the bed comfortable our room steward simon was greatand very efficient no complaints there.captains cocktail party was non existant virtually one glass as you walked into the vista lounge and that was it not the usual savouries etc and waiters offering another drink.in the 43 cruises i have done this was the worst reception i have ever had.entertainment was very good but unfortunately a lot of things started at 9pm and as we were on late dinner at 7.45pm and the service was slow we had a choice of leaving before the end of dinner to see a show or to enter the show half way throughformal night again was a disappointment, there has always been a dress code for formal night and i have always liked to travel with holland america for that reason as it is always nice to get dressed up on holiday for a special evening, but not in this case people were coming to dinner in jeans etc no jacket or tie it may sound snobbish but if there is a dress code then surely it should be enforced.all in all i feel the standard of holland america has slipped and the line has lost the class it used to have. i doubt it will be my next choise for cruising
very comfortable beds plenty storage space and very clean
