We so much anticipated this cruise as we had never before sailed on an NCL cruise and had heard great things about it. I had been on 2 previous Alaskan cruises, both with Princess, and was anxious to see what NCL had to offer. What a disappointment. The actual cabin space was fairly good. It was a little tight at the end of the bed area - two people could not pass each other, as the room was too short. Also, there is a divider separating the toilet from the rest of the bathroom. At first glance it looked like a good idea, but when using the toilet we realized that when sitting on the commode, your knees were agains that wall and your arms were squeezed at your sides. Have no idea how overweight persons can cope in that tight area. The shower area however, was more spacious than most we've encountered on other ships. The public restrooms were the diritiest we had ever encountered on a ship. Also, the cruise staff was not friendly, nor were they interested in making the cruise enjoyable. The dining room staff was actually rude at times. The ship had an automatic tipping charge put on the bill of $12 per day, so there was probably no reason to give good service. They were getting $24 a day for the 2 of us. The buffet food was the same every day, nothing creative at all. And there was not sufficient seating in the buffet area - as soon as you got up to get more food your seats were taken by others, even tho a jacket was left on the back of the chair! Almost all of the activities were geared toward children or young adults, and the children on board were running wildly and loudly thoughout the ship. We are not old fogies, but when you spend so much money for a cruise, you expect to have an enjoyable experience. And on our last evening, 3 of the specialty restaurants and one of the main dining rooms were closed. We were travelling with a large group and had an assigned dining time of 5:30 for all of us so we could sit together and they closed the dining room we were assigned to. When asked the reason why, the crew member responded "we are getting them ready for the next cruise". What about those who were on the current cruise?? I guess they were ready to get rid of us the day before we docked! We have taken many cruises and this is by far the worst one ever. We will stay with Princess...they seem to appreciate their passengers!
