This is our fourth cruise with NCL (Majesty, Epic, Bliss, Getaway) and we have another five already booked for the future. We love NCL because of the value, the unlimited drink package, the freestyle dining, no unexpected charges, the Latitudes program and so much more. We just became Gold -- we're a little disappointed in how little the benefits increase between Silver and Gold, but we won’t be Gold for long!

This was our first Getaway cruise. The cabin: I loved the little foot rest in the shower for shaving legs – haven’t had this on the other NCL ships. Balcony seemed smaller than the other ships we’ve been on. We use a cruise line approved powerstrip that staff kept unplugging, which caused items we were charging while we were gone to not be charged. Also, usb charger near bed would be great. The dining: Amazing. It was our first time with LaCucina and we were blown away with the quality. We always love Cagney's and this was the best yet. Garden Buffet: excellent, except guests kept using the water station by the juices/coffee to fill their large water bottles. Many guests were filling a cup and pouring it into the bottle over and over for sanitation concerns, they said. Pointed out that there are waterbottle filling stations but they said they didn’t want to walk that far to use it. It caused a line to form everytime and many of us were frustrated cause we just wanted a glass of water. Perhaps a convenient bottle filling station in that same area would help this. Also, in the dining rooms, would love to see desserts-to-go as an option. These are the best desserts on the ship but You're so full....but dessert later in the cabin would be wonderful. Casino: HATE the smoking in all the casino slot areas. We like to gamble and I have to say this is the first cruise on NCL we've been on that had this and we didn't spend nearly as much money or time here because of this. Many guests were complaining about this. We didn’t see a separate smoking area on this ship. Gift shop: Love all the cruise ship (Getaway) branded items (There was nothing on our Bliss cruise). We also saw a significant line of clothing that had some sort of cruising saying on the front and very small NCL logo on back. Not a fan. Would like more Getaway or just NCL logo attire, like NCL sweatshirts, tanks/tees (for women), jackets, caps, beach towels/bags, swimsuits, etc. Lastly, we love the Hero cards for crew who rise above the expected. It would be fun if crew had NCL waterproof stickers to give out to guests who they appreciate for being overly kind, fun, patient, etc. Many people put stickers on water bottles, luggage, etc. An inexpensive way to additionally advertise NCL and it's fun for crew and guests (maybe they'll behave better and create a "who can get the most stickers"). Can’t wait for our Cruise on the Encore this October to Alaska (our second Alaskan cruise LOL). Oh! And our first time using the VIBE Beach Club and it won’t be our last. Thank you to Kevin and the rest of the crew up there for making our cruise super special. One last thing, my husband and I love playing skeeball and collected hundreds of tickets. But when we went to spend them, there was nothing but Uno and a ton of kid things. Would be nice to see more items for more age ranges. Overall, this was such an amazing and relaxing cruise. Can’t wait for Alaska in October!

Getting off the ship was ridiculous. Mainly because many people were using birth certificates instead of passports which takes longer to process. Get a passport people!!!!!!!

Port Reviews

Antigua

Hated getting off in Antigua. Only port that had stupid amounts of locals trying to sell taxis, excursions, etc. It was annoying and ridiculous. Next time in this port, I may just stay on because of this unless I have an excursion.
