Cabin: Edge Veranda Stateroom

I sailed on the two week Celebrity Edge crossing in April 2023. It was my first celebrity cruise, and my first crossing, since Covid, so I’ve been away a while. The ship was only half full - 1400 guests, and almost that many crew on board. I believe there were literally only three kids on board, and perhaps four or five folks in their 20's. Definitely an older crowd.

Staff are professional and friendly. Cabin attendants say hello to everyone that passes by, bartenders remember your orders, guest services is accommodating and promptly fixed the two small items I raised with them.

I think the ship is beautiful. Lots of wonderful public spaces. The overall color palette is very neutral and contemporary – lots of grays and sophisticated patterns. Each of the four main restaurants has different decor. I think my favorite was the black and white gloss of Tuscan, even though that’s not an especially Italian look. Eden was striking, and didn’t feel like the large cavern I thought it might; it’s divided into several separate very useful areas that work well over the course of an evening.

Cabin Review

Edge Veranda Stateroom

I booked an infinite veranda (E1, really, but that wasn't on the list) on deck 8, near the rear elevators.

I don’t spend a lot of time on the outdoor balconies, and prefer a shady spot myself. I loved the new layout, where the balcony section is more a part of the room, and you have the drop-down window when you want the fresh air. I did find that the windows are disabled fairly frequently. Whether it’s for cleaning, or concerns about the weather, or something else, I don’t know. But there were several times when I pushed the buttons, and they didn’t work. After a day or two, I realized a "window disabled" flag would be visible on the touchscreen that controls the air conditioning and lights. That was convenient.

Overall I absolutely love the cabin. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of storage, the bathroom was a bit larger than the typical cruise ship cabin. I missed the Solstice-class cabinets over the bed; those were convenient extra storage, but this cabin had plenty of hanging space, drawers, and lots of bathroom shelves, too.

I had a chance to look at one of the solo cabins on deck six. I think that would be plenty of space for one person. The only thing missing would be some drawer space, so when I book that, I will be sure to take packing cubes or something.

The cabin attendant was great – Celebrity is still doing twice a day tidying up, and I think they’re changing sheets every three days. So it is the full service I remember from a few years back.
