We decided to book this cruise because we have booked the Viking Neptune World Cruise departing in December of this year. Having never sailed on an ocean cruise with Viking, we decided to take this trip before final payment was due. Based on our experience, we're thrilled to be sailing with Viking on the World Cruise next year.
Pros:
The service, especially in the restaurants, was outstanding. Also, the bar staff at the Living Room was terrific. The food, while maybe not quite as good as the service, was still very good.
Cabin space was terrific. Easy to share. Not large, but space planning was brilliant.
We did the paid Gaudí Architecture & La Sagrada Família. Our guide was not particularly good, our group was large and some folks had trouble keeping up. I'd recommend booking this via TripAdvisor or Viator rather than through Viking and simply getting a "skip the line" timed ticket for La Sagrada Família, which was amazing.
We did the paid excursion on the World Cup boat. We'd enjoyed it the first time we did this (in Australia), but this time it was not as good. Perhaps we (and the other sailors) are just older. It was hard work!
We did the walking tour. Our guide was phenomenal. We walked 12,000 steps that day, learned a lot and took some great pictures.
We did our own bike tour. It was great because we were able to visit both the new part of town and the historic citiy.
