If you are looking for a fun cruise and you don't want to take a week off of work or a week away from your kids - I encourage you to check out 3 night weekend cruises. I took this cruise in March with my two sisters to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was a great mix of relaxation, great food and entertainment with a party atmosphere. Moms will understand how great it is for someone else to cook and clean and you have no responsibilities.
The amount of time on board was just right. I turned my phone to airplane mode in the terminal and never looked back. I only needed my phone for the Royal Caribbean app and to take pictures. It made the time go by SLOWLY - just what we wanted and needed.
The ship was at capacity including lots of kids and young adults on spring break. There was still plenty of adult only spaces to enjoy. The youthful spirit on board made the day at Coco Cay a fun party atmosphere. We enjoyed the water slides, the ice skating and the food tour in Nassau. The 70s party on the last night was so much fun - don't miss it.
We had a balcony cabin and with three adults, we had two twins and a bunk that came down from the ceiling. I worked out great for us. If you are on the fence about the extra expense of a balcony - it was well worth it! Spending mornings and evenings there listening to the ocean was a highlight.
We took the food insight tour through Royal Caribbean. We wanted to see some of the island and patronize local businesses. Our guide Keith was wonderful and showed us some sights including the Queens staircase. We toured a run distillery, two other shops and had lunch at a local restaurant which included Bahamian beer or soda. I enjoyed trying new foods and helping local businesses. Be prepared to tip the guide/driver in cash and we also gave a tip to our server at the local restaurant. Book early - we saved about $25 on the tour price.
Had a great day at Chill Island and the Oasis pool. It felt like spring break and that is just the vibe (at the pool) we were looking for. We snorkeled on our own and saw the sunken remains off of chill island beach. If you are looking for a vibrant snorkeling experience, I would book an excursion. One tip -- bring towel bands to secure your towel to the beach chair. It will help you find your chair since everyone has the same color towels.
