I chose Princess Cruise Line due to their ratings and their port of calls / excursions. One month before we were set to cruise I received an email stating that we would not be stopping at Ketchikan. That was the port I was most looking forward to doing the excursions. They did however offer another port, which I too signed up for excursions. On the day of the cruise in our stateroom their was a document stating that the ship was running on two back up generators and we will not be going to the substituted port and another port will be cut short (to which they changed our excursions without us being able to choose) and we skipped another part of the trip all together.
One day during the cruise the captain came over the loud speaker and asked all necessary personnel to come to the engine room. Another problem in the engine room.
The purpose to fly from across the country was to see the ports of calls / excursions. We saw more ocean and more time on the ship then I had wanted to. If I wanted to see all ocean I could have stayed on the East Coast. The intent was to see Alaska. We saw little of Alaska and instead spent lots of time on the ship slowly sailing.
