I'm writing this review with another night left. Me (28yoa) and my wife (25 yoa) last took an NCL cruise in February of 2022, it was such a great experience we bought their Cruise Next credits for future cruises. Staff were so joyous and friendly, service was top notch, food and entertainment were next level, and multiple staff members made meaningful impacts on our cruise.

The NCL Getaway, on the other hand, is fraught with rude passengers (should have paid more attention to port location of NYC), but most dissapointing is rude crew. Less than half of time crew will say good morning ect, less than half will greet you at dining instead they just have their notebook out and look at you, critiques are not welcomed or entertained, staff appear overwhelmed, under trained, and under staffed on a too full ship. Staff seem to need to know to serve women first food, and not serve only one person at the table. Most of the time I would get my food first, very rude - sometimes 5-10 minute delay on the other person's food. Dined once in the Tropicana room, took 50 minutes to get water, we walked out and complained to manager said he was "sorry". Last cruise, we waited over an hour for breakfast (also Tropicana) manager arranged us free signature dining the following night - customer satisfaction is not the priority.

A week before our cruise we were told they cancelled a port in the DR on the twelve day cruise to. Based on reviews on here, they knew they were going to do this over a month ago. We left NYC port late, and the night before we arrived at our first port we were informed we'd be arriving three hours later than planned due to weather, and all shore excursions were cancelled. We would not arrive at Puerto Rico at 7pm, but graciously they extended our stay until midnight. This had impacts to the entire itinerary, each port was impacted. The port days went from nice early arrivals and late afternoon departures, to 1pm arrivals and late evening departures. This was a net loss of 3.5 port hours (~5%). No compensation offered for last minute cancelation of DR port and this itinerary impact.
