I always wanted to experience the Christmas markets in Europe and doing it via a Viking river cruise was the best way. This trip visited the Christmas markets in Basel, (Switzerland); Breisach, Freiburg, Mannheim and Rudeshim (Germany); Strasbourg, (France), Cologne and Dusseldorf (Germany); Dordrecht and Amsterdam (The Netherlands). It seemed like Viking had the premier docking spaces in each town, easy walking distance to town but away from all the noise and crowds. Browsing the markets during the day is fun, but tromping through the Rudeshim market at night with a glass of gluhwein in hand is a forever memory!
The Viking Sigyn was elegantly decorated, no garishes lights as was seen on some of the other river cruise vessels. The ship shined from bow to stern and the common areas were bright and clean. After a full day of touring it was wonderful to sink into a chair with a tablet or book.

I don't see the value of a larger cabin since so very little time is spent there. If you are spending time in your cabin, you are missing out on the interaction with the other guests and all the wonderful scenery. With the Aquavit terrace having a 360 view, I don't bother with a balcony stateroom as I have found that I don't use the
