My husband and I were invited by my sister and her family to cruise to New Zealand on the Majestic Princess to celebrate her covid-delayed 30th wedding anniversary. This was our 3rd cruise to NZ on 3 different cruise lines and our 2nd cruise since Covid.

The Majestic Princess is using the Medallion App system. This means you can order food, drinks, check schedules, find your travel mates, book dinner reservations all from an app on your phone. Although it wasn't 100% successful all the time it is a really terrific system and I hope other cruise lines adopt the technology.

Our cabin was R732 - an aft facing cabin on the Riviera deck. I had always wanted to try an aft balcony. I enjoyed it, but would not book again. The balcony itself was huge and had 2 recliner chairs with footstools and a table. However there was no roof so you were at the mercy of the elements and also had people looking right at you from the floors above. There was a cabin above us and then a public area above that, so no popping out in my nightie to check for dolphins!! The soot from the chimney was not as bad as I anticipated however the smell was strong at night when they are obviously burning off garbage and that meant we couldn't have our balcony door open for fresh air.

Deluxe Balcony

Our cabin was R732 - an aft facing cabin on the Riviera deck. I had always wanted to try an aft balcony. I enjoyed it, but would not book again. However there was no roof so you were at the mercy of the elements and also had people looking right at you from the floors above. The cabin itself was fairly standard. Comfy bed, double couch, desk and chair, TV - all the usual things. There are 2 USB ports on the right side of the bed - not both sides which annoyed my husband who sleeps on the left. There are power points on the desk - from memory it was 1 US, 1 Euro and 1 Australian point. Our cabin attendant was Bobby and he was lovely. You rarely get a bad attendant from my experience. Only the best and friendliest get the personal cabin attendant jobs in my experience.
