Sail Date: Nov 2022

This was our second cruise on the Koningsdam. We first cruised October 2021and had an excellent experience. An editor rating 5.0 was not accurate as the ship did not live up to the high standards. The service was not outstanding, nor was the cuisine excellent.

Embarkation: Our arrival time was 2:15pm however, we arrived at 10:30am the woman in charge of the entrance just let everyone in. That was great as we did not have to wait hours to board. We boarded with group A no one was checking the letters on the boarding passes.

Dining/Bar Staff: The menu in the dining room was limited. It was apparent that the wait staff and management in the dining room were not trained, nor did they have enough staff to handle the number of guests. On the second day we were given a pager and told we would have a 30 min wait. One hour later I checked on my table - come to find out there pagers we not working. We spent 4 hours trying to have dinner. We booked the specialty restaurants for the rest of the cruise. The bar staff were slow to acknowledge customers and serve drinks. The customer experience was not enjoyable.

Cabin Review

We were surprised when we boarded HAL upgraded us to a balcony from an inside cabin. The TV in the cabin was large enough however, the satellite link was spotty. It's hard to believe that in this day and age that the ship can-not link up to a satellite for internet and television. We pay dearly to use the Internet on the ship. If RCL can hook up to Elon Musks SpaceX's Starlink HAL should too. If you are planning on doing some light work on vacation you won't get much done.
