First, a couple of complaints, then some observations, and I'll save the compliments and wrap up until last.

We booked this Alaska cruise and obtained a two story "sky view" suite with the express purpose of viewing the glaciers from the ship as advertised and as scheduled on the venue by RCI. We were notified the night before that the ship would make the glacier approach at approximately 6AM the next morning and planned our activities accordingly. However, when we awoke and opened our sky windows at 6AM the next morning, we did not see glaciers, but instead the commercial docks of Juneau. We obtained no explanation for over three hours. Then the Captain came on the intercom to say that a young boy had fallen over a railing, broke his arm and the ship had diverted directly to Juneau. We had earlier seen many young people running through the ship unsupervised, and even heard their shouting and excitement while they were running on an upper deck above us.

We never had a chance to view the advertised glacier from our suite, nor did we receive any consideration or even an apology from RCI for the venue change. While I understand medical emergencies and I realize that Quantum is a large ship, I also believe that RCI has a duty to supervise its younger guests in such a manner as to minimize their chances of injury and impact on the experience and advertised venue relied upon by other guests. Unfortunately, based upon my observations, I do not feel that duty was met, and the result was not only an injury to a youngster, but also a severe disappointment for the vast majority of its other guests. Once again, RCI offered no consideration or acknowledgement of its role in this disappointing change from its advertised venue.
