We went on this cruise to accompany our soon to be 88 year old mother who originally was going to do this trip in 2020 with her husband who has since passed. Oberammergau was on her bucket list, so the Viking cruise was a great way to do this and end it with the Passion Play.
Viking is wonderful, the service, the staff, the ship--all great. The tough part is for anyone with any sort of mobility issue--shortness of breath, bad knees or hips, difficulty walking for any reason--there is A LOT of walking involved on this cruise. Each port has an included excursion, most of which are walking tours of the villages in each port. You may start out on a bus, but then to walk along cobblestone streets and uneven terrain or steps and inclines---very tough for some.
We started in Amsterdam--walking tour of that Old part of the city. Tons of walking. Mom did not go.
We had the low level cabin and it was fine! There was window that when you look out, you are looking at the top of the water. You have to be tall to be able to look out the window (5 foot 8" at least) Plenty of storage space and the showers were amazing with lots of water pressure.
