Family wanted to see Alaska and had been planning this for about 6 years. I'd just come off my first post-Covid cruise on Celebrity in May, so my comparisons were recent. I liked RCI for the ship layout and expectations for the younger kids activities. However, I had memories of much better food quality and activities from last cruise on this line (15 years ago). First, room was nice though third bed on the couch was hard as a rock. Room 10205 should be avoided at all costs - next to crew entrance and listened to scraping and clanging all night. The end wall video display did make the room seem larger and lots of storage everywhere. Room steward was excellent.

Food was a huge disappointment and eating, sleeping and swimming were only plusses on ship. First night tried Your Time Dining and took close to two hours for the meal with one person getting food every 10-15 minutes. Switched back to scheduled dining room after that and although service improved and some dishes fine, still had problems with cold food and menu rarely varied. Used paper menus but didn't list the vegan and children's choices (had to look on App) and reused with stains. I'm sure they were short-handed but not up to expectations.

The App was shoved down your throat as a requirement and we'd planned for all the family with phones to use the messaging service to stay in contact. The WiFi went down regularly which would have been understandable had the NOT CHARGED per person per day (pd upfront) to have the messaging. That was $8 a day for a mostly useless service.
