We are a couple who made many ocean cruises but wanted a change so opted for Viking river cruise knowing how good their ocean going cruises are.To begin embarking was a breeze just turn up and board .First impressions of the boat were excellent gorgeous muted colors everywhere.Staff very friendly and most helpful. We had booked the top suite called explorer suite. The suite itself was very nice though more bijou than appeared in photos. However there was the biggest complaint we had .It was situated right next door to a very loud generator which was running for most of the cruise. Probably not a problem for most people but for a very light sleeper like myself a disaster. In fairness management offered a seperate cabin which enabled me to get some sleep. Food on the boat was acceptable certainly not on a par with the top ocean going lines but I understand that may be the norm for river cruises.Staff most certainly did all the could to satisfy any requests. The choices of menu were pretty limited. On staff throughout I could not speak too highly they were excellent responding to any request with charm and efficiency. The itinerary however was a bit disappointing in reality very little sailing almost 3 days in Lyon and two days in Avignon .On entertainment virtually none. Overall lovely ship superb crew but some reservations as mentioned

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom

Beautifully appointed though everything particularly the bedroom smaller than anticipated.
