We chose this cruise because the original Amazon cruise was cut short due to Covid. As a result, more Caribbean islands were included, sailing from San Juan, heading south, and then return to San Juan after visiting about 10 islands. While the island landscape became familiar, the excursions were unique and enriching. The tour guides were informative and conscious of the needs of the group, always small enough for questions. We saw the influence of Spain, England, the Netherlands, and the US on various islands, and learned of the original inhabitants. Coming out of Covid, the islanders were gracious hosts, thankful for visitors. Onboard, the highest quality in food and amenities was always found. We enjoyed relaxing and listening to a live string ensemble of young musicians from Ukraine (at a time when they must have been concerned about their homeland). We were so happy to make new friends from around the world, who were equally excited about resuming the cruise life. The specialty dining was fabulous, and service was superb. We especially enjoyed the nightly entertainment, which concluded a busy day, was just long enough to leave a smile on your face. In quiet times, we enjoyed reading in the Explorer's Lounge, and even went outside to enjoy the night sky. This was our first Viking cruise, and the experience was so positive that when we returned home, we scheduled 2 more, for next year.
Spacious, with every amenity at hand. Two flat screens which provided tour info and personal entertainment. The steward was always available, and made the daily Covid testing very simple.
