Having been on the Getaway a couple years ago, we chose Escape for both the class of ship and the itinerary. We had a flight arranged by NCL so arrived the day of the cruise - no issues and the transfer to the ship made everything seamless. The line up to embark was very long but went fairly quickly. Stateroom was ready right away which was great. The Escape has a ton to do - with so many passengers, you'd think it would be crowded, but it wasn't really. Waterfront is always my favorite place to walk around! I think my only complaint would be the smoking area in the adult only section of the pool deck...smokers are essentially beside the walking/running track and they are out early - exercising right beside a smoking section seems a bit odd but it certainly didn't ruin my trip.

Teppanyaki is a must - we thoroughly enjoyed it - excellent food and entertainment! We frequented O'Shehans as well - great pub food. The complimentary eating areas are great, we did not have a bad meal. The buffet was also awesome with a lot of variety plus daily hamburgers and pizza which was a hit with my son.

We stopped in Roatan, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya and Cozumel - tendering at Harvest Caye and Cozumel, which we hadn't done with the Getaway. We did book 2 excursions - snorkeling in Roatan and the Mayan ruins/lunch in Belize - both booked through NCL and both fun.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

We were in 12122 - a balcony cabin. There was plenty of room for the 2 of us and the balcony view was unobstructed. This was the first time staying in a forward cabin - we felt the waves more but it wasn't an issue for us. We did have some rough seas with lots of wind and there was a whistle that came from the balcony door - but only on those wavy nights. If prone to queasiness, you may not want to stay that far forward.

Port Reviews

Roatan

Kayaking was also included. It seemed that this was a newer excursion but it was well done and I hope they grow in popularity.

Harvest Caye

Visiting Mayan Ruins - great excursion!

Cozumel

Have been in Cozumel before - wandered around and made some purchases - it was a nice day but went back to the ship early

Costa Maya

A touristy port - lots to purchase. Walked around then ended up spending much of the day on the ship.
