A little background, my husband and I are 55 and 50. This is our 9 cruise. 5 on RC and this is the 4th on Celebrity. We have found that staying a couple of days before the cruise is much more relaxing then coming in on the same day. So my husband and I with our 2 dear friends rented a airbnb in the Carolina area of San Juan. We went to dinner at El Ambique and had the Mofongo, can you say yummy. We ate their twice last year. It's that good. The service is super. We went to the Carolina Beach the next day and it was very nice, a tad windy but sooo relaxing. We felt very safe and comfortable in this area. We did see a good presence of police on the beach which was nice. I tried real hard not to look suspicious. On embarkation day we took an Uber to the port.

Embarkation: We were on the ship in 10 minutes enjoying a glass of free champagne. One thing I appreciated was that the captain and officers greeted you as you came in. I always like to know who's responsible for getting us around safely. The ship looked very nice with all the updates and had a much more open airy feeling.

So off we went to our room. The new thing they are doing is they leave the sea pass for you on the door in a sealed envelope. I was thinking can that be safe? No worries people, If the envelope is tampered with, just bring it down to guest relations and apprise (that's my big word of the day) them of the situation. I have not heard of any problems with it. I think doing it that way gets you on the ship even faster. WOOhoo. After we put our valuables away in the safe that was not screwed into the cupboard any longer. I felt like taking it with me as a joke. We did tell our cabin attendant but we weren't overly worried about it. We have never had any problem with theft on board. Then off to the Oceanview café to begin the eating frenzy.

Ocean View 4

Our room was an ocean view and the remodel was well done. I think we had even more storage with the new configuration than before and we didn't pack less either. Our room attendant Vency was awesome, very sweet, humble man. The bed was very comfortable. The bed also doesn't have that bar in the front where we had to lift the bed to get our luggage under. Easy Peasy. The bathroom was nice. I liked the new door on the shower. It kept the floor from getting super wet, compared to a curtain. It also had a nice leg rest for us ladies to shave our legs.

There was a safety handle that was placed awkwardly and I banged my elbow on it once but was able to avoid any other mishaps. Water pressure was great, also temperature. Yes , there is only one outlet on the vanity, but we brought a 3 plug adapter and that does not get removed from your suitcase like the extension cords do. The only complaint I really have is you can clearly hear your neighbors t.v. Granted we had an adjoining room but even our friends who were not in an adjoining room had the same problem. Usually you would have 1 door on your side and another door on their side to buffer the sound but there was only one door, we could even see the light come through. I don't think the rooms are as soundproof as they used to be, or we had super quiet neighbors in the past. But all and all we were pleased with the new room.
