We have cruised Celebrity extensively but have never sailed on the Summit or out of Puerto Rico. We we were traveling with our two adult daughters and this timing and itinerary worked with their schedules. My husband and I had been to all the ports, but liked them enough to return. The early onset of winter in Boston made the trip even more welcome.
We arrived the day before the cruise and had a lovely room overlooking the port at the Sheraton in old San Juan. Unfortunately, Celebrity docked at the PanAm pier about a-mile away but it was still fun to see the other ships. After getting lost in the rain that night, we stumbled into a very nice restaurant , Parilla. After breakfast at the hotel the next day, we took a free tour by golf cart through OSJ. This stay In Puerto Rico seemed like a vacation itself, unlike our Florida departures. We also had a wonderful beach day and lunch before heading back post-cruise.
My husband and I have a strong preference for the larger, newer S class ships and weren’t particularly looking forward to being on the Summit. Since it was a busy, port intensive itinerary, we figured it wouldn’t matter.
The cabin was attractive and immaculate. The location was convenient and-no noise issues,
Did a free tour in OSJ. Charming.
